I am a retired special education teacher with a love of reading. I live in Chesterfield, on the edge of the Peak District and am at my happiest sitting in the shelter of a drystone wallI, with a flask of tea, with a new book to read. I have bought books and DVDs from WOB and have found their service second to none. Apart from their ability to redistribute these items, giving them a second (or third) life, which is something we should all embrace, but the variety and choice is fantastic. And as they are so affordable, it has allowed me to investigate unfamiliar genres and authors, without the fear of wasting money.
Just started on Robert Macfarland's "Landmarks", which is so far enchanting, and have finished Roger Deakin's "Waterlogged", which is a book I came upon by chance, on WOB and is a fascinating essay exploring the English love of open water. This, along with my continued exploration of 20th century British poetry, has me down as a now regular customer, and enthusiastic acolyte of WOB.
Excellent value, great service in a world where books have somehow become so devalued they are treated like old tabloid newspapers - though unsuitable for lining the cat tray.

The order came very quickly and the packaging was fine. Of the 4 books, only 2 were in ' like new ' condition. The other 2 were very good and good. This is an old problem with WOB, but means a buyer cannot rely on their description of a books condition.

I ordered a language learning course that should have contained 6 CDs but only contained the 3 relating to the 2nd part of the course. I have contacted WOB twice to rectify but have had zero response. Customer service was similarly awful last time I had a problem (they sent me the wrong books). All the books I have ordered from WOB have been in excellent condition, some are obviously brand new. I buy fiction books and rarely pay over £5 for a book. Postage is free and books usually arrive pretty promptly.

The book was a very good price and delivered quickly but unfortunately, the usual very thin plastic packing meant one corner got damaged. It is a great shame that WOB's otherwise excellent service is let down in this way. I would be prepared to pay more for better packaging.
