Horrible experience I sent money to my sister on the 3rd and today is the 9th and she still hasn't received it. Every time I ring customer service am told different stories. Mind you this wasn't a bank transfer and they say they can't refund either. Either refund me or give my sister the money! She has gone to pick up the money several times and they told her they can't recognise the mtcn. Close up or sell the company to someone who can do better.
I live in California and have been sending money to missionary friends around the globe for four years, (see image below). Western Union makes $4.99 every time I send money and we have had a decent relationship. Occasionally there is a glitch and I have had to go the old fashioned way and use the local Walgreens. Recently they wouldn't transfer funds for me and requested that I email their Global Consumer Reinstatements department, which has no physical address or phone number and no accountability. That department asked me for information, which I provided. Everything except an ID number, which as I explained, "what ID number?" because I had given them myWU number, what other ID number is there? The response I got was: "We regret to inform you that according to our internal policy and local regulations, we cannot disclose any specific details why your service has been discontinued." From Diego Op457. There other options, so it's not the end of the world, but what a bad business! After four years of service, they cut me off without explanation. Don't use them.
I have been using Western Union for over 10 yrs. The service when sending online is inconsistent. It works 85% of the time for me. Error codes come up and you have to call them or send an email which they are very hard to get hold of. They ask for information like name, address phone no. Etc which is already on their system. One time they said you have made too many transactions, evertime I try to put it through is considered a transaction. Its a good idea the I have a back up money transfer company which I fortunately have, instead of having to go and see a WU shop to sort the problem.
I have transferred money to my account in India and it's been cancelled. When I enquired the Customer service they just said it's been cancelled and refund back to account takes 10 business days. This is such a reluctant service and this is not the first time making me to give this feedback. When they cannot offer the service they should not debit the money and put them on hold for weeks to get them refunded. I would never recommend this to any one prevent one from using it. Holding the customer's money in their accounts for weeks has become the way of their working style. Such a great service in holding up someone's money for weeks. When you can't do it, just stay away Western Union.
I rate them with one star because it is not possible to rate with 0 stars! They do not explained me what is the reason for what do not give me the money, made me to go to a Western office to take the money ( available status on tracking) and when I tried to get the money they said that there are blocked for verification). The amount was little around 100 EUR and they said to try with a little amount in condition that the expenses to send money are high. I do not recommend!
Western Union blocked me for receiving and sending money in my country which is Tunisia for no reason and when I asked them why they sent me an e-mail after one week to tell me we cannot provide you with the reasons why. You are just blocked! But when I go to another country and take the money with my passport I can take it! Money gram is better
I have asked my client to 0ay through western union on 26th. After the transfer western union sloppy routine thing to do is make the sender and receiver wait for 2 hrs, then after several hrs silently ask for customers id via email from sender.
Their online method is sloppy, their customer service is pathetic, their system gets shutdown every now and then and you cannot view details via MTCN. When you call them and give MTCN their agent are so stupid say this LTCN number is wrong and contact your sender. In fact they dont know that i am their father in digital world and anybody can check things online, the reason to call wu du, b agent is to confirm whether it can be picked up and the place is open.
Don't trust "no fee for your transaction" coupon; before you enter your credit card info, it says no fee, but then once you enter your credit card number, you will be charged for the transaction fee. I called customer service and they stated there is nothing we can. I would definitely not recommend using Western Union ever! I will never be sending money through them ever again.
Western Union tries to hold your money as long as possible because they gain money when they keep a transaction on hold.

After using Western Union for many years, I have actually discovered what a scam they really are. They are over charging customers for money transfers. It is very important that you totally read and understand the conditions as to how your fee is calculated. If your money has to be converted to a different money you can bet that you will not receive a true conversion rate and will receive a minimum amount of what you send based on the conversion rate used by Western Union. There are a huge number of ways to send money that are fair. I will never send a penny through Western Union again.
Agent doesn't take care entering receivers information which causes delays for the receiver. Took over an hour to sort out and this was the second time this happened
My brother got scammed out of 1400€ because of an employee who was clearly working with the scammers and when we tried to get our money work or at least have the employee fired so he doesn't do this to someone else all they could say is: "we're sorry". We didn't get our money back and the employee did not face any consequences
Ps: this was in 2018 and we ultimately had to give up on ever getting our money back. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND USE OTHER MEANS OF MONEY TRANSFER!
Don't trust western union for your money, they steal you're money, they pick up your money without your knowledge and your disable father unable to buy medication
Probably the most frustrating Company I have ever dealt with. The App is appalling and only works intermittently. Their intrusion into your life by asking personal questions to transfer money is a breach of the Privacy Act in New Zealand. Seriously there are plenty of alternatives, use someone else
I was trying to send the money from Saudi Arabia using WU. BIG MISTAKE. They seized 5000$ of mine. They don't answer me emails. They don't answer my calls. The customer service in KSA does not exist. I am planning to hire a lawyer otherwise the money will be lost. This situation is extremely flustrating. I will never ever use this scammers again!
They have an app that supposed to assist their customer to send money online, after several security questions didn't work.
I had to call western unions customer service 6 different times because each one of those that answered did not help and made things so much more complicated. And also each one of their agents were telling me different things on how to get my refund back or why my claim number wasn't working. Fortunately, the last call i made was a lady who actually understood and fixed everything for me. This took me 5 hours total from going back and forth to places that had western union and with customer service to finally getting my refund back completely.
My account has been frozen and W U for 2 mths and I am offered no reason. They are not contactable unless you want to talk to someone who has broken English in India. They simply are not accountable for any action they take and I am told I have no right to be told why my account has been frozen.
This is truly a terrible company, they bang on talking in circles. I suggest that if anyone has issues with this company it would be a lot easier to switch to money gram or another sender than it is to suffer the indignity of having to deal with total incompetence and stupidity that comes from the mouths of these underpaid call centre workers who just read you $#*! off the sheet. What an abomination, the company should be closed down.
I wired money to Grenada money was not received I call WU who gave me the run around and insisted that I pick up the money in the Bronx two hours after sending it from Brooklyn which makes no sense why would I send it from Brooklyn then travel to the Bronx to pick it up two hours later costumer service refused to help all they did was give me the run around.BE AWARE OF SCAM AT WU
