I mistakenly ordered a whole assembly when all I needed was the filter. Ok, I understand shipping the product back would be out of my pocket. I DO NOT agree with a $21.90 restocking fee. By the time I paid their restocking fee and the return shipment costs my refund would be $32.52 from the $72.99 I spent on the item.

Less than half of what I spent. Looks like I will keep the item and look else where to do business.

I find them in general over priced but I do need to be fair as well - they shipped on time and nothing was damaged.

I understand your concerns with returning and am sorry to hear that the item that was ordered wasn't exactly what you needed. The reason we charge a restocking fee is because we want to continue to keep prices as low as possible. When an item is returned, there are additional costs associated with processing the return. Companies that do not charge restocking fees pass the costs of their Returns Department onto their customers through higher priced items. Instead of raising our prices and charging every customer for frivolous returns costs, we only charge a restocking fee for items that are a standard return.

I love shopping online and I dealt with hundreds of companies in my lifetime. Never in my life have I ever came across a company like The Webstaurant Store. An online Store from HELL, customer service probably got their training from Satan himself. Bought a large item from them and got a used item, I tried to get a replacement or refund but got nowhere with the customer service from HELL. They wanted to charge a restocking fee and shipping to return the item back to them. They wouldn't even give me a refund for the lousy piece of crap they sent to me. This is a warning to anyone thinking about buying from The Webstaurant Store, please STAY AWAY!

I was doing business with WebstaurantStore and loving it. Then I placed an order and I received an email stating that my order was on hold and that I needed to provide a copy of my driver's license and/or a bill showing my billing address and credit card number.

Wow, that's weird, I thought it was a phishing scam. Turns out it's not. Suddenly Webstaurantstore decided that a repeat customer, with zero problems, is a fraud risk for a $67 order. They shifted our business relationship from great to non-existent.

I wrote a complaint stating it's unreasonable to request a copy of someone's driver's license to buy coffee online, especially when I'm a repeat customer in good standing. I received a response stating there was "suspicious activity from my IP address". Which is complete nonsense. So not only are they wrong but they're now implying they're monitoring my computer connection? WTF? They basically said, yeah it's an inconvenience but just provide the information we requested. They even acted as if they were doing me a favor by not cancelling the order and giving me a chance to comply.

WebstaurantStore is acting very suspiciously and demanding information I would not provide to any online business. Again, keep in mind this was for a $67 order. It's not like I was buying a $10,000 cappuccino machine.

Well, I'm now very worried about the security of my credit card number and other information I've shared with them. Demanding such info as a copy of one's driver's license is what scammers do when they're attempting to steal someone's identity.

Jerry, thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review of your experience. I assure you that this process was not meant to an annoyance and was only a one time request. The internet is just becoming an ever-increasing dangerous place to shop and we take pride in being one of the safest sites out there. I can also assure you that no one in the company has access to anyone's full credit card information. We only see the last 4 digits as the remaining 12 digits are randomized and are not accurate in order to protect our customers making it technically impossible for that information to be stolen from our site. What was requested was something showing the billing address, such as a piece of mail that showed the billing address but did not have to be a drivers' license. Again, we try our best to make sure our customers accounts are safe and wanted to make sure you, as the card holder, were authorizing the transaction which is why we asked for this information. Our e-commerce risk team would be happy to talk with you further in order to better explain why this information was requested if you reach out to them at [email protected].

I can't say enough about WebstaurantStore.com! Great prices, great products, and their website is about one of the best to navigate through, so much so, you shouldn't ever have to deal with Customer Service. But if you do, Customer Service is Top Notch!

I was set to buy everything I needed for my reception, I was in the process of checking out and realized shipping was almost the same price as the plastic lightweight cups, silverware, dishes, tumblers, and napkins I was going to order! I was shocked. They have an option to ship to a residence or ship to a business. I tried both. To ship to your house is about $20 MORE expensive then to ship to a business! Just to test the shipping out, I took everything out of my cart except 60 small plastic cups. The shipping ended up being FORTY DOLLARS, I laughed out loud with that one, my cups cost $16 and they want $40 for shipping!?!?! WHAT! What a sham of a company. If you factor in the cost of shipping and tax, you save WAY more money shopping literally anywhere else. Everything on this site can be found on Amazon. GO THERE. The good reviews are absolutely written by the HR department or an employee... they all read the same. So glad I never ordered from Webstrauntstore, I have zero faith in this company. To summarize other reviews that I read, your stuff often arrives broken, NOT what you ordered, and not as advertised. AND you have to pay your own shipping back and a 30% restocking fee, EVEN IF ITS THEIR FAULT. And don't even think about trying to solve a problem with their "customer service".

Since we do not absorb shipping costs into our wholesale prices, we do charge the full shipping charge for each order. These charges are calculated based on the weight, dimensions, and distance the order is traveling. Usually the more you purchase at one time; the better your shipping cost will be per item. You are correct in regards to shipping in that it is more cost-effective to ship to a business as shipping rates are lower to commercial addresses.It is our hope that we offer a low enough price on our items to still offer a competitive total price, even with the shipping cost included.

In regards to other reviews you mentioned above, our warehouses do package each shipment with care to ensure that your items arrive intact and undamaged. However, there is still a small chance of accidents occurring in transit. If anyone ever experiences any issues with their order upon delivery, we just ask that we are informed as soon as possible so we can resolve it. If a mistake is ever made on our end, a restocking fee would never be charged. The only time a restocking fee is charged is if it is a standard return. By charging restocking fees, we are able to keep our item prices lower.

We hope that you will give us a try if you're ever needing to order restaurant supplies in the future.

I see that we had requested a video but the file was missing from the first email we received. We had spoken with you on 2/19/18 and had stated that once we have the video we can begin working toward a resolution with you. The item has a 6 month replacement warranty and we are happy to work toward a resolution with you through the warranty but will need the video for our records to determine if it is just a part or if the unit is fully defective. I put an incorrect order in by accident. I immediately, within three minutes, tried to adjust the order online. They do not offer online cancellation options. I called right away to have them tell me that basically orders are not reversible period. Unbelievable!

Bought a Vollrath vegetable chopper that's advertised as "a versatile manual food processor that can handle all of your fruit and vegetable prep work."

Product crushed (not diced) tomatoes, wouldn't cut 1/4" inch thick sweet potatoes and had trouble dicing carrots. In short, it was a disaster. Called Webstaurantstore to see about return and they said can't accept a return because we used it once.

I thought they were joking. We paid over $200 and they falsely advertised the product to do something it cannot do. Instead, they told me to call the manufacturer.

One star is too high and I'd never do business with this company ever again.

Shipped another uncalibrated scale

It's been two months after my initial order and finally received my replacement scale.

It is also uncalibrated and in a damaged box and needs to be returned.

If I'm lucky they won't make me prove it's damage again before issuing a refund.

I arrived a scale that arrived uncalibrated and upon calling customer service was not permitted to return it as damaged for a full refund. Calibration costs $60-100 or the original price of the scale- I was stuck paying $200 to get it up and running.

Also, my guess on why the scale received 5 stars in every single review? They just don't post the bad ones as they "review" all submitted reviews. Cheap and dishonest business- never again.

Their return policy is horrible and they have the same lame excuse every time someone post a bad review concerning it. They claim it is to keep their cost lower to give customer's better prices. That is not true. You can find the same or similar items with Amazon and I strongly encourage anyone to look elsewhere to avoid the scam they have on returns. No other company I have ever dealt with has such deplorable policies. If you have to return something they charge 30% restock fee. What a total rip off. They will respond to this review with their standard hogwash. Other companies are competitive with their prices. Here comes that standard reply. Wait for it...

Horrible Horribe Company

Buyer beware. If you purchase an item that you have to return, they charge you a 30% restocking fee plus you have to pay to return it. They claim that it is to keep their pricing down which is a bunch of bologna. I could have ordered a very similar item from Amazon and would have avoided this scam altogether. Take my advise. Avoid this company. Chances are Amazon has whatever you need at a competitive price and excellent customer service

Buyer beware

I purchased a heat sealer which came damaged and not in working condition. I immediately reported it. They told me I needed to cut the cord and send a picture, which I did. It is now ONE WEEK LATER and they are still giving me excused as to why a replacement sealer has not been forthcoming but "hopefully" an answer should come by 5:00 Monday (I write this review on a Friday). Horrible company and their shipping rates are absurd! It is no wonder they have 70 one-star reviews and very view 5 start reviews.

Great company

I spend $5000 a month with webstaurantstore for paper goods. I have spent over $100,000 on equipment from webstaurantstore in the last 5 years. If i ever had any issue, it was dealt with quickly and efficiently and professionally by webstaurantstore. The Turbo Air reach in come with a 5 year warranty. I had an issue with one recently that was 3 years old. Called webstaurant and a local tech from Fesco(local company that i use for all of my other maintenance) was at my place in 1 hour. Problem was fixed and webstaurant paid fesco. I never even saw an invoice.

I was able to locate your order and see that it was determined through photos of the unit as well as the serial number, that the correct item was received and there was just a protective film over the door. Typically we are unable to accept returns for items that are not in their original packaging. However, we did make the exception to bring this back to sell on our Outlet site at a discounted price. Lost my Bussiness

I ordered a steam table and realized I had order the wrong type for my facility. After 15 minutes I got help from an on line service there and they told me it was put on a truck and was in route. I am very sure this was a lie. I am in the customer service industry and there is no was there service is not that efficient. I tried on several occasions to get this order stopped and to order a more expensive unit but they told me I would have to pay for the shipping then pay to get it shipped back then pay for the more expensive unit sent. They have lost all of my business and a lot of money also. Very very poor customer service.

I recently purchased a Waring commercial blender (BB900S model) through Webstaurant. It was slightly less expensive than available through Amazon, but I regret it and would never order through them again. I'd owned this same model for three years previously and was very satisfied with it; however, this one didn't blend properly and was excessively noisy. After going back and forth with them multiple times, including sending a video at their request, they told me that neither they nor the manufacturer would honor the warranty since it sounded fine to them. I'd have been much better off ordering through Amazon and will avoid using this company in the future.

We do track any and all complaints we received regarding items we sell and we do not have any for this product at this time. Additionally, our product specialists stated the issue reported seems to be the standard burn off smell when first beginning to operate the machine. After reviewing the video you sent, our specialists as well as the manufacturer have deemed the unit to be working properly so there is nothing that would be covered under warranty at this time. However, you can take the unit to your nearest service center or mail the unit to Waring in order for them to take a closer look.

They are dishonest. They lied about a cancellation, shipped it anyway knowing it was unwanted, and charged a $1,000.000 restocking fee! They have a restocking fee in fine print... so that the credit card companies have no choice but to let them take this money form unsuspecting customers. BUYER BEWARE. Stay away. Save yourself from getting ripped off.

We do record all of our phone calls and have record of all emails and chats but did not receive any regarding cancellation of the other items on the order. We had asked that if you did have proof of an email that was sent, to forward this to us and we would be willing to waive the restocking and return shipping fees. I just read some of the replies of a WebstaurantStore representative to the complaints of many customers. Very polite responses, but in the end a lot of runaround and a lot of unsatisfied customers and "nothing" they can do or will do to solve the issues. It is unfortunately built in to their business model. So glad there is a forum to let others know the experience of actual customers and the frustrating aspects of dealing with WebstaurantStore.

My client had a restaurant kitchen repair job and I ordered a sink per my client's request. Because he cannot operate his restaurant until this repair is completed, I was told to order the sink with next day shipping. I was notified of it being shipped out within the next day and it was scheduled to be delivered the next business day by 8pm, which was a pleasant relief. I even contacted both the shipping carrier and Webstaurant's customer service to ensure of scheduled delivery. They said yes. The day of delivery comes around, 8pm hits, and I still have not received my order. I check the carrier's online tracking service again, and the delivery date was pushed to the next business day. I contacted a Webstaurant's customer service representative regarding this issue, and all I was told was how sorry she is. There was no compensation whatsoever, which I think is standard procedure. Both my client and I are facing financial losses. As for the company, they definitely lost an otherwise frequent customer.

Stay away they scam you
November 18, 2017

I purchased a 12qt pot to replace a 12qt pot i owned. The pot was purchased on Sunday, received on Tuesday and attempted to use it on Thursday. It was then that i realized this 12 qt pot was SMALLER then my other pot. I contacted the company and they told me it would be a 30% restock fee along with shipping. I explained that this wasnt the correct size i even sent them a video showing how is is not 12qt. This was their response Also 12 Qt. Is a nominal measurement. This means it is not going to be exactly 12 Qt. This is an industry standard for items. The best way to explain this is when you go to Subway and order a 6 sub, are you getting exactly 6 of sub? Possibly I guess, but more likely is that you are getting a 5 ¾ sub or a 6 ½ sub. The 6 measurement is not exact, but it is used because most people understand what that size is and should look like. UMMMM NOOO if i buy a 12qt pot i want an12 qt pot. STAY AWAY FROM THIER THIEVES!
