We originally were going to purchase another manufacturer before choosing WeatherShield. Not only did they save us money but they were able to make the size window we really wanted for our great room which was a very tall casement window. The windows look great and the doors even better - we purchased the Contemporary series of windows and doors. I have had no problems compared to what has been described on the website. I have no problem recommending them.
Our new windows were installed about a month ago, September 2018. On arrival, two were broken (wouldn't open), a third broke within a week (won't lock into place when closed) and several came with the wrong colors - I ordered all brushed nickel, three came with black hardware. It's obvious they're not a good quality product. It was a mistake to order Weather Shield. I gave two stars because they have agreed to change out the wrong color hardware for the correct color.
I bought 7 windows from Weather Shield. All of them suffer from air infiltration problems, and some of them are hard to open and close.
When you contact their customer service, they start by helping you to find the problem. When they run out of possible solutions, they just stop answering you and refuse to honor their warranty... The funnier thing is that when you do a bad review about them, they will publicly answer to contact them to solve the issue but when you try to contact them, they don't reply!
Terrible company. Windows installed in our new home developed leaks. Weather Shield would not replace them so we had to sue them to get results. Years later and after costly legal bills they finally agreed to replace the windows. They sent the wrong size on some of the windows and now refuse to honor the agreement - back to court
I have many of their windows fail and fog up seals don't last and the support is not good. Said that I could buy new replacements for half the original cost since they are more than 10 years old. But the price they quoted was just a few dollars less than original price. So why buy window again from them if they failed once already... Tim
We built a home 9 years ago. Only 2 months after moving in, more than 40% of the panes' seals failed. We have had more seal failures, mold, condensation problems. I had contacted the company many times, and they were indifferent to the poor quality crap they are putting out. They did very little to help us fix the problem. Some of the windows are in such poor condition, we will have to replace most of them within the next five years.
Ten years ago we built a new house. We installed Weathershield windows. After three years the window seals began failing. Moisture began condensing inside window and mold began growing between the sheets of glass. Several doors also failed. Upon attempting to get them replace under warranty we discovered that the full warranty expired after two years. Also, they would provide glass panels but not the frames so the contractor had to take the windows apart and set the glass in the old frames.
In the last two years virtually ALL the remaining windows have failed. NOW the local business that sold Weathersheild has gone out of business and no other rep will respond to our calls -presumably because they don't have a dime in the game. Weathershield won't respond to our calls either.
We are now having all the glass fabricated and replaced at our own expense.
DO NOT EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM WEATHERSHIELD.
Answer: The front of my house looks like a joke. They totally changed the appearance of the house for the worse and blamed it on codes. When does roofing codes require you to cover brick window frames with aluminum and tar? I'm too embarrassed to even post a picture.
Answer: Ours has really bad pile (if that is what the felt like stuff is called) that shrinks
