Pay by check, NOT credit card!
January 26, 2020

I paid $ 39.95 for the eight-bottle intro offer, then cancelled membership. So no chance for them to keep billing me. At $ 5 a bottle, excellent value. Trying the first, Miguel Flores Malbec, right now, and it's fine tho not worth the $ 21+ list price. Always remember the four rules of life: Never play cards with a man named Doc. Never eat at a place called Mom's. Never get involved with someone with more problems than you. AND: never give random sites your credit card. You're welcome!

What a croc!
January 13, 2020

SIgned up for membership and then cancelled. They continued on and then didn't accept responsibility. They also dropped off shipments without my direct signature and continued to bill me. When calling about it, they offered to charge me a fee and restocking cost, and then cancelled... STAY AWAY FROM VINESSE and their TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Extravagant credit charge
December 26, 2019

I ordered 6 + 2 btls of wine for a Christmas gift which was charged correctly to my credit card. Today I check my credit card bill and they have added $144 to it. When I called them they tell me I joined a club and another shipment is already enroute. Not Happy with them. Don't do business with them!

Shady operations
December 20, 2019

Ordered from this company about six months ago. Wine order was mediocre. Received a letter dated December 10th informing me that they would begin charging membership fees for legal reasons and that I would be charged a membership fee sometime within the next 30 days and provided a voucher for the membership amount to essentially get my money back in discounts. When I checked by credit card statement, they had already charged me the membership fee on the date the letter was created. Essentially, ensuring that I would have to order more wine in order to get my money back. I never gave them permission do charge me, nor did they give me time to cancel my membership. I was able to dispute the charge through my credit card company, but it was definitely a shady tactic to try to lock me into more wine purchases.

Too Many Questionable Issues in My Opinion
November 21, 2019

I initially received a mailing from this company advertising their wine club which had conflicting information. In prominent wording, the offer appeared to offer 2 extra bottles of wine to be included with the six they were offering. However, another insert in the mailing led me to believe that you might not get the other two bottles until you have received your second, full price order. I contacted the company and, after some research they did, they confirmed that you would only get your two extra free bottles with your second order, not as indicated in the prominent wording. With that I told them I was not interested in their company and that their advertising package left a bad taste in my mouth.

A few weeks later I received an advertisement from Vinesse wines for what appeared to be a similar offer of two free bottles with the first shipment. I called the company and they asked me to read a code number on my mailing address for the advertisement. After checking that number, customer service told me that, Yes, the two free bottles would be included in the first shipment. With that assurance I placed an order for their introductory package.

When I received the shipment of wine, I was a little concerned that there was no included information about connecting with their online website to monitor and schedule or cancel wines. I located the site online, but could not initially log into the site. There is no apparent way to begin your enrollment online because you need a passcode, etc. I subsequently made phone contact with their customer service people and they provided me with a number that they said should be used to gain entry. Unfortunately, that number did not work. Later I learned that the number they gave me was simply a customer number that did not get me access to the My Account Records.

Subsequently, I established contact through their chat feature and they manually gave me access. There is no way from the site that you can cancel your membership and stop future deliveries or charges. Their frequently asked questions section had no info on how to cancel. That concerned me. It prompted further research on my part about this company. They have much less than a stellar reputation.

Through the chat feature, typing with one of their representatives, I have now hopefully canceled membership and will not receive any future deliveries or charges. Because of my concern about this company, I contacted my MasterCard issuer to advise them not to accept any future charges from Vinesse Wines. However, I learned that the initial offering charge came from something called American Cellers Wine, a company I have never heard of.

In my opinion you should exercise financial caution when dealing with this company. There are many bad reviews about their wine, customer service and improper billing activities and apparently better business bureau complaints. Beware.

Visited once the website and suddenly received a confirmation of club membership, which never requested or confirmed. An amount much above order cost of $29.99 was withdrawn from my account! On all my mails afterwards the reply is only silence! Just an advise, never get in any contact with those people/company.

Stay away!
October 30, 2019

I ordered the introductory special. I then received a shipment of 6 wines ($144) without warning. I have been a member of other wine clubs where you at least get a notification that a shipment is on its way. Avoid Vinesse at all costs.

I answered an ad for 6 bottles with two bonus bottles. After I received the shipment the first wine I tried was a "bonus". California Pinot Noir 2017. The cork was so dry it broke apart trying to get it out. It was obvious this wine had not been stored properly. The wine tasted like vinegar with a terrible after taste. When I called customer service and got Eric the "manager", he said they would replace the bottle with my next shipment. This was not what the ad said. Eric truly did not care about me, the client, and told me he would just cancel my membership. I said fine. Stay away from this company. They do not stand behind their ads, could care less about customers and send bad wine. If there were zero stars that's what I would give them.

Worst online shopping experience ever
October 11, 2019

I ordered the wine online and wanted to cancel right away, was put on hold for 20mins, as soon as I got connected, the agent told me it's been an hour since I placed the order which was only 30mins, and they said there's nothing they can do to stop the shipping, but i can refuse the shipment but they will refund minus the shipping and 15% of restocking fee. I've never been through an experience that I can't cancel within 30mins. And the agent were lying about the time. It's totally a fraud

BUYER BEWARE
October 2, 2019

I ordered their introductory special. Info said no strings or obligations. I understood I was joining a wine club, but previous clubs always notified me to ask if I wanted the next shipment. They, apparently, offer no notification. I received a shipment and called immediately. I had to return the wine to California at MY EXPENSE ($30) and sustain a 15% restocking fee. I had originally paid by check, and they had WITHDRAWN $153+ FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. When I called 2 weeks later to inquire about my refund, they claimed they never received the return.

A total scam. There are better, cheaper wine clubs out there.

Bad wine, bad service, terrible prices
September 30, 2019

I have received two shipments so far and all have been poor quality wine. When I tried to cancel they wanted me to pay restocking fees although they claim you never pay for wine you don't like. And the customer service person I spoke with ended up lying to me although I don; t know if he did that on purpose or just because he didn't know what he was doing.
Avoid at all costs.

Fraud! Avoid doing any business with them!
September 17, 2019

Do not be enticed by the seemingly "lucrative" offers from Vinesse. Avoid doing any business with them! To put it bluntly, Vinesse's business model is based on fraud. Their Customer Service is terrible and moreover, virtually unreachable. Furthermore, the quality of most of their wines ranges from bad to mediocre.
As a result, I canceled my membership after the initial delivery of wine because I didn't like its quality. Six months later, my husband responded to Vinesse's offer and authorized delivery of 8 bottles of wine for a total cost of $40 (using my name, which was already in their system). There was no opportunity to review or confirm the shipment nor any other records/notification of the charges. To my surprise, the next day I received an email welcoming me to Vinesse, and my account was charged for $120! Vinesse renewed my membership without sending me notice and charged an unauthorized amount from my credit card, also without notifying me of new charges.
I was unable to reach their customer service by phone, but finally someone responded via chat. In short, I was told that I could not cancel the order because it was "in process". Upon delivery, I did not accept the shipment and but was still charged for the shipping.
I have seen some similar complains on the blog, it means that this deceptive strategy is their standard practice. It looks like their business model is tricking and deceiving their customers, extortion. If they wish to make changes to the payment authorized by a customer, they MUST at least notify their customers about their intentions and update the order before its review. They should provide an opportunity to review and confirm an order so that customers can cancel or modify it, as any normal online company would do.
I am in a process of disputing their charges with my credit card company and certainly, not a Vinesse's customer.

Not as good as Touring & Tasting was...
August 27, 2019

I was a "rollover" member, had been with Tourning & Tasting for about 20 years, loved their magazine and wine selections and the website was very useful. So when the "merger" took effect, I waited to see how things went. Well, I was underwhelmed with Vinesse... wines were ok, most I'd never heard of but gave them a try. But over the past two years, the quarterly deliveries became hit and miss, the wines were just ok, and I missed the old Touring & Tasting classiness. I call this morning to cancel my membership. Even finding a phone number for the company was hard, not shown on website, but it is *******527 should you need it.

Got 3 auto-shipments before i realized they were taking money out of my checking account which made me overdrawn and now have to pay a penalty. The wine opener arrived with the first order and had 4 screws with 3 openings on device. Fixed that and when i went to open a bottle the auger went right through the cork into the bottle.the wine choices are pitiful often sending 3 of the same kind in one shipment. Bought through the NRA, read the fine print!

Scam
August 8, 2019

After initial shipment they sent another, which was refused. They charged "shipping" and restocking" fees anyhow. Said they didn't notify me because they didn't have my email, which was clearly on the order form. Given the other reviews, they evidently have numerous ways of dealing dishonestly. Think of how much money they can make on the same case of wine that they can send numerous times to victims who don't want them

Scam! Scam! Scam!
July 18, 2019

Saw an ad on Facebook with an introductory offer of 6 bottles for $29.99 with absolutely NO mention of automatic enrollment in a wine club... In fact, it stated that there was no obligation to purchase anything else. I placed the order and immediately received an email stating that I was now enrolled in the "American Cellars Wine Club" and I would be receiving monthly shipments of 6 bottles at $16 each plus shipping. In no way did I ever agree to any enrollment nor was I advised that the initial introductory offer automatically enrolled you.
I immediately sent an email cancelling my membership and my initial order and received no response. I called and was told that the ad stated that I would be enrolled in a wine club... WRONG!

Stay away from these thieves!
