Won't get fooled again
May 16, 2017

I got a promotion for twelve bottles of wine for the introductory price of $69.99, shipping included. After reading the rules and regulations and understanding I would automatically receive wine shipments at a higher price, but that I could cancel at any time I decided to give this a try. Imagine my surprise when learning that $69.99 charge somehow morphed into $114.00. To Vinesse's credit, after immediately cancelling my membership the charge was removed from my credit card.

Dear Pat F.,

Thank you for your review and sharing your membership experience. The only time when the introductory price would not be applied to a wine club promotional offer, is if the respected wine club member had already taken advantage of a promotional offer, in which they will not qualify for the promotional price on the introductory club shipment. If this was the outcome when you had cancelled your membership, you should have been told this by our customer service team. In this case, we were able to reverse the $114.00 charge to have it removed from your credit card account.

DO NOT buy into this scam
May 16, 2017

I had an offer for 6 bottles for $50. I never received any notification that i was going to be charged $136 for a second order. I called them fuming the representative was very unprofessional and basically told me to deal with it or cancel my membership which i did. I am very disappointed in Vinesse. I wish i had checked out their reviews before signing up.

Dear Jeeleigh A.,

We appreciate you taking the time to post your review about your wine club membership experience. I am sorry to hear you were not informed about the pricing of future wine club orders, after the introductory wine club shipment priced at $49.99. Depending on how you enrolled for the wine club membership, the details about future shipments, including the price, should have been noted either on the priority order form (if the promotional offer was sent in the mail) or in a confirmation email (if enrolled online or over the phone). Also in the packaging of your introductory wine club shipment, there should have been additional information about your wine club membership and the details of future wine club shipments, including the price and schedule dates of the next 3 orders. I am sorry to hear level of customer service you received when you had called our customer service line. Our company's goal is to provide excellent customer service with a courteous and professional attitude. Sharing your experience will help us in areas of improvement with our wine club membership. Thank you.

Stay clear of Vinesse
May 12, 2017

Joined the American Cellars club which is part of Vinesse. Introductory bottles of wine were good, so decided to stay with the club. The second batch of 6 bottles had 4 decent and 2 bad wines. Third shipment had 4 bad wines and 2 good. They also double shipped an order and charged me twice. I had to call Vinesse and stop payment for their error, and have the double shipment cancelled. Then they sent a letter on April 7th, stating that I would be charged a $30 yearly fee due to a new California law. Before receiving any more shipments I cancelled my membership on April 14th. They still charged my credit card for the $30 membership. I called and they refused to reverse the charge. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT BUY FROM VINESSE! Besides the hassle and errors of using Vinesse, I found the wines to be over hyped, and I can find better wines at a better price locally.

Dear S. S.,

Thank you for taking the time to send us your review. As a wine club provider, Vinesse does take a great deal of care in the wine selection process when choosing wines to feature to our wine club members. We also realize that our wine club member's taste for wine is a completely subjective from one another, and we want each and every one of our members to be satisfied with every bottle they receive. For that reason, we do offer a 45-day satisfaction guarantee with our wine bottles. This means we will offer to replace any bottle of wine our member is not satisfied with within a 45 day period of shipment delivery, at no cost additional cost. The replacement bottle(s) will be included in the member's next wine club shipment. In a situation where there is a double wine club shipment and the member is charged twice, we would want to have the duplicate order cancelled before shipping, but if it had already shipped, we would then take the efforts to have the shipment returned. Then would address the duplicate charge, to offer a credit for the returned shipment. Regarding the $30 annual membership fee, the fee is returned back to our active members in a form of a $30 wine voucher that is mailed to them. The wine voucher can then be used towards a future wine club order or can apply it towards an online purchase from our wine shop. If membership is cancelled and the member did not redeem the wine voucher, in most cases, the wine club will issue a $30 credit back to the member's account that was used for billing. I would love the opportunity to further review your membership account to confirm what all transpired, especially the outcome of the $30 annual membership fee. At your earliest convenience, can you please either reply back in a private message or contact our customer service line at 1-800-823-5527 so I can further assist you? Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM PT - 5:00 PM PT. Thank you.

Dishonest company... Don't be fooled
May 11, 2017

My first order arrived a week or two late and the wine was good but nothing great Got an email in just a couple of weeks later stating they were getting ready for my next shipment! Whoa-I didn't order anymore. Called, spoke to a nice woman who assured me the shipment would been canceled and they wouldn't charge my credit card. Well guess what. They did try to deliver the order which I refused and they charged my credit card to boot! When I called again to get them to refund my money... oh, well they could do that but I would have to pay the shipping to and from Plus a 15% restocking fee. They said I never called to cancel because they don't have it in their records! I assured them I had... they lied about the order, they lied about my not calling and now they want money from me for something I didn't order or want! I have canceled their membership and am requesting my credit card company not to honor their demand for me to pay for their mistake! Run folks! This one is a scam!

Same problem and I DO read fine print.
March 29, 2017

I signed up for the great introductory offer and there was NOTHING that said I was joining a club. I got the second shipment for $120 - after waiting a week for it to be delivered - and I'm done with the "convenience". I'd rather shop myself. I plan on cancelling my membership today, hopefully with no issues. Also... why am I not able to cancel online? I do not recommend.

Hello Catherine,

We’re very sorry to hear that your experience with us was anything but pleasant! We strive to ensure that each of our members’ expectations are met above and beyond what they would experience with any other wine club. Our tasting department carefully selects wines from wineries who have fine-tuned their craft into unique and special varietals to be sent to you, our valued members. With our years of experience in this vast industry, we’ve built exclusive relationships with wineries all over the world. Many of the wines we offer are not available to the public, and you won’t find them anywhere else. With our huge selection of wines that we offer, we run specials to entice wine lovers of all kinds. It is listed on all of the promotions we have that you are enrolling into a wine club that include automatic future shipments. The price is listed with this information as well as there being no obligation to continue with us should you choose not to. All of this information is also listed within the confirmation email that we send out after an enrollment is completed, granted an email is put on file. Within this email, you can see the dates of your 2nd and 3rd wine club shipments as well, in case you need to make arrangements to alter them. We would like to apologize if this was missed for any reason. Our members are able to delay any shipment for up to 6 months, no questions asked. We also offer the option of slowing down the automatic shipments to occur every other month or once a quarter. All of these options are listed within our Member Service Portal on our website, where you can cancel any wine clubs you are enrolled into with us. We would invite you to try our wine club again with this new information as it seems it was missed on your first attempt with us. We appreciate your feedback as it will help us grow as a company..

Deceptive scam.
March 16, 2017

Initial offer appears attractive. Fine print may have revealed, but I had no idea, that I would automatically receive 6 bottles of pricey wine automatically some weeks after the initial order. Package came with cooking recipes but no invoice. Hard to find the company's contact information. Dor to door is fine, but go to Costco. You'll do much better.

Hello George,

Thank you for the feedback in regards to our services as it will help us improve as a company overall. We would like to apologize for any unwanted wine that was sent you, as this is not our goal as a company. On all of our promotions we do state that by placing an order for the introductory offer you are enrolling into a wine club where you will automatically receive another shipment consisting of 6 wines the following month. The price of the future shipments is listed with this information. Also listed here is that there is no obligation to continue with us and that you may cancel at any time. This information is also listed in the confirmation email that we send out after an enrollment is completed, granted an email is put on file. Within the email, you can see the dates of your 2nd and 3rd wine club shipments as well, so that you can make arrangements to alter them if need be. We understand that this might have been overlooked, and for that we do sincerely apologize. Our members are able to delay any shipment for up to 6 months, no questions asked. We also offer the option of slowing down the automatic shipments to occur every other month or once a quarter. All of these options are listed within our Member Service Portal on our website. You can manage your account here or just simply contact us so that our representatives can make any/all adjustments to your membership for you. We do understand that everyone has different wine needs, and we want to do our very best to make sure we’re able to accommodate said needs. We spend a great deal of time ensuring that all of our shipments arrive to our members in the best condition possible. From storing the wines in our warehouse to the measures we take in ensuring that the bottles arrive straight to your doorstep safely. Due to the measures we take to ensure you are able to enjoy the wines directly after the shipment is delivered, we do have a restocking fee in place to help with these costs. We use temperature controlled trucks to guarantee our wines arrive with the same high standard of quality as when they left our facility. Again, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience in this matter. We do appreciate your feedback with this review.

Scam!
March 14, 2017

Just like everyone else. I ordered my first case with Vinesse which was fine but then the second month they charge me $130 for 6 bottles without my authorization, and do NOT send any emails of the dates that they were going to ship. Scams! I disputed with American express who were just as worthless Vinesse. Please people do not order from them. Go to local store. Vinesse needs to go out of bussiness ASAP!

Hello Mike,

Thank you for the review on us, as this will help us better our services for other members. We do strive to make each and every one of our members experience with us both personable and memorable. Although you seemed to enjoy the introductory offer of wines, we would like to apologize for any frustration we may have caused. We do state on all of our promotions that there is no obligation to continue and that you can cancel at any time. Also on our promotions, we also do state that you’ll be receiving another wine club shipment the following month with the price listed. This information is also provided in the confirmation email that is sent out after your order is processed. Depending on the filtration options within your email, said email may go to your junk/spam email because we are a business. What we normally recommend is to add us to your contact book so our emails go straight to your inbox. You are able to return any unwanted shipment back to our facility for a credit, as we don’t aim to ship out unwanted wines to members. Again, we do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience in this matter.

Very deceptive business practice.
March 14, 2017

I agree with several of the other reviews -- this is not a wine club you want to join. Not clear that I had to proactively cancel the next order. I didn't even know how to access the website where I was expected to cancel future orders. Shipping costs are the highest of any wine club I have ever dealt with.

We do state on all of our promotions that there is no obligation to continue and that you can cancel at any time. We understand that people sip at their own pace, and we do all that we can to be able to suit the wine needs of anyone from casual sippers to connoisseurs. Huge Scam! Do not be fooled!
March 8, 2017

It sounds like I had a very similar issue to multiple people on here. I purchased my first order without a problem. Today I was shocked to see a box with 6 bottles at my door and a charge for $120 that I DID NOT ORDER. They do not send any follow up emails or receipts after your initial purchase and they do not make it clear during the initial purchase that you are signing up for a monthly service that is not confirmed each time before shipment. After speaking with multiple representatives I was informed I could return the wine at my own shipping expense and also pay the 15% restocking fee. I will never shop with Vinesse again and I hope that other people can be spared this frustration.

Biggest complaint is that you only ship UPS, which is the worst shipping company ever. They would not allow me to redirect shipment to a UPS store. Fed Ex did when I was in WSJ Wine club (got out of it because I joined this one) You need to allow the use of FedEx, or any shipping company the customer wants! I had to pay for wine that I could not accept at home because UPS only delivers when I am at work which was shipped back. I then had to pay a restock fee, then had to pay to have it shipped back to a UPS store which charged me $10 to pick it up. All in all, 6 bottles of wine that was supposed to cost about $90 cost me about $180! RIDICULOUS!

Hello Don,

Thank you for the feedback with your review as it will help us become better as a company! We apologize that your experience with us was anything less than an outstanding one. We do strive to meet and exceed all of our members wine needs! We understand the frustration and inconvenience with needing to be present to sign for shipments of wine, as many of our members are busy during business hours with work and what not. Due to the shipments containing alcohol, it is against the law for a courier to drop off the shipment without first obtaining a signature from an adult 21 years or older. For shipments going to CO, we have certain obligations with UPS as our courier. Typically, for members that aren't able to arrange for someone to be around during business hours, we recommend shipping your wine to a workplace. This is generally a convenient alternative, and it actually saves $2.50 on having our shipments delivered to a business. If shipping to your workplace isn't a viable option, another possible solution is to have the shipment held at the local UPS facility, as they will hold the shipment for up to 5 business days, free of charge. You can arrange for this after they attempt to deliver your shipment to your residence. You would be able to swing by a local UPS facility on a week end and start enjoying some of our delicious wines! In reviewing your account, we do see that we had to send out a replacement shipment to you due to the failed delivery of the first shipment. We did issue a refund for the first shipment, in the amount of $59.99, which should already reflect in your bank account. It was a refund less our 15% restocking fee. We have this in place due to the condition in which wines are returned to us after being returned to sender are often unable to be resold and they are disposed of. We take special measures to ensure that the wines reach you in optimal condition so that you can enjoy them immediately. If you don't see the credit on your account, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Support Team as they will be happy to look into this for you. We issued a credit immediately upon receipt of the return of the first order. Again, we would like to thank you for the feedback you have provided us. It is through these types of encounters that we are able to improve and provide an even higher standard of service.

Vinesse.com Wine Club

Looks like a lot of people do not read or may do not know what they are signing up for. The http://www.vinesse.com/ wine club is fine. No issues. Deliveries are on time and the mix of wine is fine. Does it cost more than the store, yes. But I am paying for the convenience and experience of getting wines I may not other wise try. Saves me a trip and research when at the store. I tend to spend too much time researching instead of just trying.

Just make sure you read the details and know what you are getting into. That is all.

Bad customer options
February 28, 2017

Similar to other folks, I signed up for the first shipment, received a ton of emails about wine offers but none confirmed the shipment of a monthly order. When that came, the shipping fees exceeded the per bottle expense. I tried several times to log on to the site, asked for a password reset and it never came. Just cancelled. Don't do this one. I much prefer Nakedwines.com. (and, No, I don't work for them.)

Stay away from this wine club!
February 19, 2017

I wish I had seen these reviews before signing up for one of their promotional offers. I got 8 bottles of reds for $50, and then waited for an email regarding a next shipment so that I could decide if I wanted to accept or reject the shipment. No email ever came. Instead, on a day that I was expecting another package delivery, the Vinesse delivery came. Without inspecting the shipping label, I signed for the package. BIG mistake. It turned out to be an unasked for delivery of 6 bottles from Vinesse.

After several phone calls to 'Customer Service' it turns out the only way for me to know a shipment was about to be sent, was if I went to 'my account' every day, to watch for the notification. I have never belonged to a wine club where they did not clearly let you know beforehand that a shipment was pending, and where you could either accept or reject it.

We finally settled on a lower price, and now I have 6 bottles of wine that I had never asked for, and probably could have gotten equal or better quality, for half the price.

Stay away from this company!

Hello Stew,

We're sorry to hear that your experience with us was anything but pleasant. We do aim to satisfy any and all wine needs from casual wine drinkers to connoisseurs of all kinds! We offer a wide variety of red and white wines from all of the world to better accommodate said wine needs. We'd like to apologize for any confusion over future shipment dates when you enrolled into our wine club! Our aim is not to send any unwanted shipments to our members. We think there might be some confusion over the Member Service Portal as well. This is the tool on our site that helps customize each and every one of your wine club shipments with us. We list all information about past, present, and future shipments within the Member Service Portal. You wouldn't need to check this on a daily basis to keep tabs on any upcoming shipments, as these dates are listed under any wine clubs you may belong to with us. In addition, you can alter the shipments dates by delaying the shipment to better fit your wine needs. We also give you control over how many bottles are sent, as well as the wine preference that will accommodate any requests you may have. In addition to the Member Service Portal providing shipment info, we also supply this information in the confirmation email that is sent when you first enroll with us. We provide the first, second, and third shipment dates to keep you well informed of shipments that will be arriving. Of course, you can alter these dates and delay any shipments for up to 6 months at any given time. Again, we're very sorry for any confusion over how to manage your wine club with us, but we would like to thank you for your feedback. We will work even harder in bettering our brand to best fit your wine needs in the future!

After an initial purchase 'deal,' I didn't hear anything from Vinesse for 2 months. Since my wife and I are retired, we are often away from home. When we returned from a roughly 2 week road trip, we found that UPS had tried 3 times to deliver a half-dozen bottles of wine (cost with delivery charges, over $120), held the wine for a few days and returned it to Vinesse. I was shocked when my charge card was billed for about $40, for a wine I didn't specifically order, which I never saw, didn't expect, and was returned to seller. This was supposedly a return delivery charge and restocking fee.
Vinesse had my cell phone number and could have either texted me or left a phone message some time during the 2 weeks we were away and we could have either had UPS hold the wine longer for a small charge, or returned earlier, since we can set our own schedule. None of this was done. When I called Vinesse on this, their rep stated that in the literature sent with the original deal, this return/restocking information was stated (true). When stated that I didn't even know that the wine was coming, they offered to send another 6-pack (for the same $120+) but absolutely refused to refund or credit the $40, simply restating their written policy. Fortunately, when I disputed this with my credit card company, the nondelivery charge was removed, but their customer rep was absolutely dedicated to getting the company that money. After the discussion with her, I immediately cancelled my membership. The only good thing I can say about these guys is that their wine quality is actually pretty good, but service is really bad!

I never do reviews, but I am ticked by these people so I am doing this one. I signed up for a short time just to get some wines sent around the holiday season and then a few more maybe to pick up United miles. Tried to delay before my card was charged when I saw the next shipment was going to be a $125+. Decided it wasn't worth that price, so called to cancel at various times for a week straight and never got through. I emailed to try to cancel after that, was told I could only do that on the phone. Then they charged my card and sent the wine anyway. Now they tell me I can send it back but I have to pay the $100 shipping fee. Don't waste your time, go to the store.

Hello John,

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience with us. We are, however, happy that you were interested in receiving the wines that we offer and earn United Airline miles in the meantime. It’s a really great way to earn 6,500 frequent flyer miles and also be able to enjoy various delectable wines from all over the world! Our hours of operation for our Support Center is 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST, Monday – Friday. Our reps are available during these times to make any and all necessary changes to your membership to best suit your wine needs. We do see that your enrollment occurred around the winter holidays, and we apologize if you had difficulty in reaching us. Although we weren’t closed for the holidays, we understand that people are very busy around this time of year spending time with family and friends. Your second wine club shipment processed and shipped out of our warehouse on January 6,2017, which is also when your card was charged for the shipment. We received email notification of your request to cancel on January 10,2017. The shipment had already left our facility and was unable to be stopped when we were made aware of you wanting to stop the shipment. Charges can take 3-5 business days to post to your account, which may be why you may see the charge post to your account after you had emailed us. We apologize again for any inconvenience in this matter. We ask that any alterations to a shipment be done prior to the scheduled shipment date so that we are able to accommodate said requests for our members. Information about all upcoming shipments are located in our Member Service Portal. This portal provides all information about past, present, and future shipments as well as the ability for our members to alter them themselves from the convenience of their home (like delaying shipments, changing wine preference, and altering the bottle count for your shipments). It isn’t our goal to send out any unwanted shipments to our members. In understanding this inconvenience, we have issued a full credit back to your account. Please allow 3-5 business days for this credit to post within your designated credit institution or bank.

I joined Vinesse Wine Club through a promotional offer. In the fine print of the T&C, it indicates previous members MAY not be eligible for the promotion. Since I was a previous member, I was not eligible. However, Vinesse did not inform me, and went ahead and charged my credit card the full price of the wine, and did not credit me with my award points. At the least, they should have informed me, instead of charging my credit card more than I authorized.

Bait and Switch Scam
February 12, 2017

Bought through AAA. Com good deal on first shipment, then second shipment $133. Ridiculous. Then for Christmas they send you a case at $259+ you never committed for. But say it is part of program. You can send anything back. Or you pay not only a hefty shipping outbound but even more back. Plus a 15% restock fee. So the wine is now $22 plus each bottle. Do yourself a favor. Go to local liquor store. We have a Total wine, Half the price for this crap.

Hello,

We’re sorry to hear that your experience with our wine club didn’t exceed your expectations! We do try and make every one of our members time with us personal and memorable. With our promotions through American Airlines (you mentioned AAA, but we don’t have any affiliation with the American Automobile Association), we do try and make the pricing for future shipments known. This information is listed on the enrollment page, within the confirmation email we send after the order is placed, and also on our website. We apologize if this information was missed at any point. We do put a great deal of effort into ensuring that each and every wine club shipment reaches our members in pristine condition by using temperature controlled trucks to ship the wine out of our warehouse in Napa, California. The holiday shipment is one of our most anticipated offerings that we have annually. Although many of our members love receiving these limited time wines, we do attempt to contact members to give them the opportunity to inform us that the shipment is undesired for any reason. The wines we offer are often wines that are not available in any other wine retailer, including Total Wine. The exclusivity of the wines we offer are curated from excellent relationships with the wine makers that work with us in delivering great quality wines straight to your doorstep. Many of our members enjoy receiving wines from all over the world directly to their doorstep without having to step a foot in a store. The aforementioned reasons are, in part, why we have a restocking fee in place for returns that are sent back to our warehouse. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience that may have arisen during your time with us. We would love to have you try us again sometime in the future!

YOU HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. All wine has to be signed for. You have to wait all day. They auto bill and say they send email before hand, but send so much spam mail, you cant figure out what is what. They have a terrible return policy. They charge shipping way to much, then return shipping and a restock fee. Might as well just keep the crap and give to homeless. There tactics of sending dso much email is over whelming. Don't join, you will be sorry. Your $89 dollar charge will become $130++ then they send you stuff you did not order, and say it is a special Christmas event.

Hello Ben,

We often let you know about these specials via email, as this is the most convenient way to let our members know. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you as this isn’t our aim at all! You can always unsubscribe for them within any email we send you. Simply click the unsubscribe link and the emails will cease to be sent to you.
We understand any frustration that might be associated with having to sign for shipments, and we totally agree with you that can be a drag to miss a delivery due to the need for a signature to receive these unique wines! Due to the shipment containing alcohol, it’s a federal law to have an adult at least 21 years or older sign for the shipment. It is something we wish we could work around, but as of right now all companies that offer at-home wine deliveries have to go through this process. To try and make this process easier for our members, we offer our Member Service Portal on our website. Any and all information you could want to know about your past, present, and future shipments are located here. Simply login, click on the wine club you are seeking information about, and voila! Everything from tracking information on past and present shipments to future shipment dates (that are editable) to any wines you have received in previous shipments. We like to leave our members in control of their shipments, after all who knows your wine needs better than you!
The restocking fee that we have in place in our return policy is due, in part, to the measures we take to ensure that the wines arrive to you in the most ideal condition possible. We ship the wines out of our warehouse in Napa, Ca in temperature controlled trucks to avoid any type of spoilage that could occur, as other couriers do not offer this method of shipping. We apologize if you received any shipment that was unwanted, as this is not our goal as a company. This is not the ideal experience that we strive to attain for each and every one of our members. We put significant time and effort into all of the shipments. The holiday shipment that we send out is one of our most beloved offerings we have each year. Although many of our members love receiving this shipment to either give as gifts to loved ones, or keep it for their own personal consumption, we do attempt to contact members to give them the opportunity to let us know if this shipment is undesired for any reason. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

January 23, 2017

No confirmation email. Tried to blame me for incorrect t email. Used knock off 3rd party shipper wh lied about delivery attempt (GSO) whoever they are. Shipping company wanted me to be home a whole day for another delivery attempt. Told them forget it. I was home the first time when they said they were delivering. Just a bad taste whole transaction.

Keep away from these guys!

They nab you with their promo offer and make it very hard to cancel. They ship out the next consignment without checking if you're ready for it. I cancelled the membership but they had already shipped out a consignment, and though I never accepted delivery they insisted on charging a 15% fee for Restocking and Shipping costs. Stay away and go with WSJ wines instead. You can order as and when you want.

Hello Nilita,

We do apologize for any misunderstanding with the way in which our wine club operates. We do have scheduled deliveries set up for your wine club. You can alter these dates and customize orders, but we do ask this be done prior to a shipment processing. Again, we do apologize for any confusion in this matter.
