What with the lockdown and sequestering, my career opportunities disappeared for now. A client told me about Upwork and how I could utilize my fallback skills as a proofreader and editor freelancing. I have since landed a few jobs and hope to increase my workload soon.
The world around us is changing and our workspaces are evolving. Upwork has provided us with the perfect platform, according to the constantly evolving technology, to connect businesses and business owners with freelancers.
Upwork is very user-friendly and intuitive. It is a great platform if you are new to freelancing and looking to build your client base. As you grow, my suggestion would be to wean yourself away from Upwork's services, mainly because of the fees. If you are ever going to go full-time freelance for a living, you will need to be free from Upwork's exorbitant fees.
Takeaway: Great for beginner freelancers. Not good for long-term, full-time freelancers looking to make a living from their work.
I really have enjoyed my time on Upwork so far. Any issues I have had upwork is very quick to respond and help me out.
I'm so happy working on this marketplace. Easy to use and their team provide great support. They provide what you need as freelancer.
I have been using this before a year and gained many contracts. This platform provides very good clients and if we stuck in any contract upwork support team ready to help us.
Upwork has helped me and other freelancers around the world to have an income in this challenging time. It has a very user friendly website and app. The customer support is very helpful, responsive, and understanding. The community is also great. It's very informative and helpful when you have questions. I haven't encountered any rude clients and so far they are all nice people.
I have been using this platform for last 1 month and i am very happy to be a part of it. I have earned quiet alot of money as well as gained many contracts.
Good platform for all the freelancers.! It difficult to get a new job as a newbie and you have to purchase the connects as well.!
I am working on Upwork from last 7 years and it has made my life very easy in term of ecpenses. Thank you Upwork team
Better to avoid trusting them, they take 20% for nothing.
Can't even protect my work from a cheaters. Who looking
Many times I do the work, spending my time and resources - but client take results and escape without payment under upwork protection,
Upwork never listens to reports about suspicius hirers, even allow them return their deposite.
It's just wasting time to build profile and look for rating there
I have more than 1 year on upwork. And I got only 70$. Its not the amount which I was thinking about. Drawback of Upwork is less connects (According to me) It should be unlimited.
Amazing Platform. This was my dream to work on Upwork. Your payments are secure and you can find genuine client and genuine work here. You can get your work and payment certification from Upwork.
Have experience about 15 years in IT, think upwork.com is cool place for clients and freelancers. Good cooperation
Upwork has helped me, my friends, and my family. Especially during the pandemic time, great that we are able to earn thru this platform
I've looking and search for a good and nice freelancer platform and there's it. The excellent platform that can help clients and freelancer to work together in a secure way
I've used the site as a freelancer for 6 years (originally O desk). To begin with it felt supportive and despite the huge competition from freelancers charging barely anything and clients wanting ridiculous amounts of work for pittance I started to build up work. I had 1 issue with a client and the support team resolved it fairly and quickly.
Nowadays I'm constantly getting emails about ‘changes to their terms' which are usually not beneficial for freelancers. The ‘connects' system is the final straw for me. Upwork already takes 20% of all my earnings (they charge the client 10 or 20% too on the same work) now they want me pay a monthly fee to be allowed to apply for jobs that make them their money? It's no longer viable for me, I'll use my few free connects for occasional jobs but I feel a bit ripped off by Upwork.
Up work is a very good platform for every hardworking freelancers.
I did working on upwork 2 years, i am top talent now, yes begining is difficult, you need open up a new prospect by you talent or Professional knowledge and communication and judgment...
but if you really have sth, don't worry, you will find you will got fair treatment.
Upwork is great to finding freelancing jobs. Great system and support. I wish they will review their fees and bring it down.
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away
Answer: This is not the place to inquire.
Answer: No, just 20% of your job when we talk about fixed price, and same for hourly but after some week it's been 10%
Answer: Go to Settings › Contact Info › Click the Close my account link. If you meet the requirements, click the button to confirm that you want to close your account.
Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
Answer: Because of their policy changes which are geared towards the client rather than the freelancer. They have dug their own grave with their policy changes of late.
Answer: Go to Get Paid on PC or Mobile, you will see 3 dots in front of your payment method, tap to select edit/remove to change them. Go to Billing Method on PC under Billing Section and tap three dots to change (edit/remove). Thanks
Answer: Be part and see, dont look at the sold mine reviews people, upwork can bush you to reach.
Answer: I agree with Sam. This place is a scam. They have bad reviews everywhere. Katrina is probably working for them!
