I have a university degree and work experience in the relevant field. Upwork keeps rejecting my application and It is really interesting why I am not considered as good enough for them. They did not even bother to explain well why my application was rejected. They just sent me an email implying I do not have enough skills (I listed my skills on the website though?). They just create unnecessary obstacles for people who are willing to work.

It's been a month since I am on Upwork and it's a great platform where a
Skill person can grow his business and become successful.
Before joining Upwork, 8 months back, I never thought that skilled experts like me, who live in developing countries, can join the global workforce just because of where we are located.

Upwork is a great platform among the other freelancer portals as they filter the best freelancers, tough for new freelancer to get project as they invest more to purchase bids.

So Far I've been on Upwork for a month and I've had about 5 gigs come my way. Once I figured out how to best present my work on the platform and approach clients. I got several projects. I think the best thing about the platform as a freelancer is the safety net of having a third party secure the funds and payment from prospective clients. So far it's been a good experience and I recommend the platform.
I love using Upwork because as a military spouse, it allows me to find virtual and remote jobs and roles that I can take with me when we move due to the needs of the military. There are so many opportunities to choose from too. I love the peace of mind that Upwork provides through it's services to it's freelancers and those who are posting jobs. I would highly recommend using Upwork to find your next role!

The fees are steep but it's understandable to a certain extent, given the above.
In respect to clients you might find on Upwork, there are two major categories: good people and bad people. I guess that is not surprising and it's a general rule of life :).

I had made Account many years ago but never used this platform yet, I was active past month at upwork and meanwhile I got a project from client, after completion of 1st task he awarded me with another job and I again completed that job in time, which really boosted me and I see the charms and attraction of upwork. Since then I shall be online most of the time and searching and waiting for job.
Overall experience at Upwork platform is Superb for me and I recommend people to join this platform to explore the new heights of your skills and experience as well as your knowledge.

I have read all the Upwork job success ratio policies but didn't know only a small thing(Inactivity in the contract) will gonna have a great impact on job success score. I have done multiple projects and completed them successfully but I have some contracts which were not ended by the client and I also didn't end them because there were possibilities that the client would hire me again but that small factor of inactivity brings my job success score to 80% even I have done all jobs successfully with good reviews and that disappoints me very much.
Just a suggestion Upwork should remind the freelancers if something gonna leave a bad impact on the job success ratio like reminding freelancers for closing the contract in which there has been inactivity. Hopefully I will recover my job success score as I have got some new projects.
I have been on Upwork for almost 5 years and it has skyrocketed my business. I find the clients are ready to order, so it's just getting the right match. I have had excellent customer service as well and my questions get answered in a very timely manner. I appreciate the fact that their commission fees reduce when you have more business from the same client. Other sites do not have this.
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away

Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
