I have to NO end been trying to resolve issues and keep getting the run around from csr who dont understand nor speak fluent english first, then dont seem to know much about company they represent...
For almost a year i have been trying to get resolution on hearing aids, now vision, cheap eyeglasses, referals to real doctors and its just been awful! I think this whole aarp thing is to lure elderly people in to purchase, then get thried party companies and USE them... I need someone with authority to call me and discuss this. I signed up for United healthcare seven years ago they promised $25 gift cards for Walgreens every year. Of course that never happened not only that there is no number that you can call for Louisiana rewards.
They also have terrible transportation medical service. They don't even assist pay for gym memberships unless you are 65 or older.
Otherthe insurance plans paid for gym memberships in fact most of them do.
They pay for Uber card for medical transportation.
I gave them one star because I couldn't give them a negative star.
I receive bills for covered services. United healthcare does not pay for the services they say they do. They have eliminated eye care next year, not that that paid for anything but a basic exam not including cataracts and glaucoma. I don't know any old people who do not wear glasses without surgery. Their help desk is full of people who do not speak English, so you cannot be helped if that is your first language. And even when you get someone who understands English, they cannot fix anything. I've had nothing but problems with this healthcare. Every online system they operate is broken. The physicians are not listed. The physicians that are listed no longer participate or are not accepting patients as UHC states. There are providers who participate who are not listed. And some of the places they've tried to send me to are really scary! Messed up scheduling continually. Providers who cannot give you a proper diagnosis. And worst of all they lied to me and told me there would be no premium for my coverage. Really? It's $170 every month.
Those bills are for diagnostics they supposedly cover.
We have had UHC for several yrs through our employer. They are the worst health insurance companies we've ever experienced! The most untrained unprofessional and rude reps. Long hold times - MANY times I am finally disconnected or they just never answer! And I've been hung up on when I press them on something they don't know the answer to. Another game is they will say they are transferring me to a "supervisor" or "level II rep" when I ask to escalate due to them having no clue how to service my request - I will hold for 15-45 min and then am disconnected. HORRIBLE! They do not know what they are doing and if they say they are transferring you just hang up. They show no apology for being hung up on or hold times in excess of 25 min. They simply don't care and NOONE at the top cares or they would appropriately train their service reps. Also every rep will tell you a different thing- so document date and what they said and employee #. Go do a search on the unethical fraudulent background of the leaders of this company. UHC tops the list for consumer complaints. I am in the midst of fighting them on a common sense claim they are sending me through circles on. And no one seems to k on why it isn't being covered and the phone call drops after them trying to find a supervisor to help me. I asked them to have a supervisor call me directly due to the HOURS I've spent on this and they say that's against their policy. Other excuses I've gotten is "for some reason I can't pull that up", "our system seems to be down" "I'm not sure why but I can't transfer you" "sorry that you were on hold for 15 min. We don't usually do that" (followed by a 30 min hold time and a disconnect!). They are designed and taught to play dumb, deny claims or pretend they never received them or that their system isn't working correctly. We are dropping them at open enrollment and have reported back to HR how abysmal their service is.
I tried to get individual insurance (not through my employer) recently and I did not qualify simply because my wife is diabetic. I was transferred to the Affordable Care Act instead. I thought this was not happening anymore. Sadly, that is not the case.
I have had 3 different patients with treatment that they needed and all were denied the payment from UHC. One patient has UHC come back and say their treatment wasn't a covered benefit and it was. Then UHC came back and said it wasn't covered due to wear and tear of the teeth! SERIOUSLY? Another had treatment that was covered under her plan and they came back with another excuse as to why they didn't cover it but only after saying it wasn't a covered benefit. Margie a manager at UHC said it was a covered benefit but the reviewing dentist denied it saying there wasn't enough space between the teeth for the appliance. SERIOUSLY? So, patient and I both asked for the reviewing dentist to call my Dr to discuss and neither the patient or myself or my Dr got a phone call. Other patient has similar issues. This isurance is crap! Bait and switch! Even worse if you are on a fixed income! DO NOT GET UHC they are full of it.
The people who work here obviously have no family no morals and no soul. It's not possible to treat someone as bad as they do and then go home to a family and pretend the bad things they have done will not eventually follow them. If you make to many complaints expect it to be retaliated against. If they can't shut you up they will make sure to pass you on to someone who can. I can not turn back the hands of time and get my health back but I can pray I run into one of these people before the clock runs out
Tired of applying for jobs with UHCG. They make it to difficult to get an opportunity with there organizations. UHC treat employees applying for a job as if no matter what your background, experience or looking for that opportunity is beneath there expectations. When they call for a interview you are interviiewed as if you are in the military. No wonder they have such large turnaround in staff and always hiring so many unhappy employees. I know people who has worked for UHG they felt as if they were micro managed and not appreciated for their work ethic quantity appears to be more important than quantity.
When I first had Covid two years ago the emergency room took a chest X-ray to determine what type I had. They diagnosed it with Covid pneumonia with pulmonary nodules. They kept me over night to run tests and make sure everything was under control. Since then two of my doctors have requested a CT scan with and without contrast since Covid has stirred up my asthma and has become more severe. Each time I'd go to the appointment they tell me that the insurance hasn't sent them the approval. Now I'm on two very strong inhalers to help control the situation. My doctor asked why this hasn't been checked sooner and I told him that my insurance sits on it and decides if they want to approve it or not. What do you mean if you want to approve it or not? This is the most pathetic insurance company that my employer has gotten for us. Now I'm stuck ProScan services said I could got to the emergency room and they could do it without have it preauthorized I'm so angry right now I wish I could cancel this insurance. They are really really pathetic.
I have tooth treatment appointment with my dental office. To be secure, I need obtain pre-authorization before proceeding on. It take 3+ month and hours of call on to push the pre-authorization moving. Every time I called in to check the progress, UHC just tell you different reason of pending. Every call took hours for just waiting for agent to search and find the recorder. And I have to tell my story starting from begining over and over for the agent to understand. I start doubt if UHC a honest insurance company or just premium thief at large. I never experience insurance company like that. It is so pain that even more than treatment of my tooth.
United healthcare always denying claims resubmit and deny again we went for almost a full year to have an ambulance trip covered we were told it was a private ambulance company so they would only pay $800 towards a $2700 bill we submitted this bill multiple times had conference calls with the ambulance company and threatened legal action before they determined that they were in fact responsible for the bill that it was not a taxi ride where we could choose who came for our emergency service among other things if you have a choice do not use this company
Tried to use otc card today family dollar, food benefits card family dollar turned it down wont acccept, u t a fraud changing med plan soon anne page *******, dual complete choicxe 10/27/1944! Need to tell truth about benefits card!
United Healthcare sent me a bill after I canceled my policy with them. They then refused to provide documentation that I would no longer receive bills and refused to send me documentation that my policy was officially canceled, stating that their "resources are limited," which I found an inappropriate excuse as they have $18 billion in profit. I am still wondering if I will receive additional bills or if they will send the most recent bill to a collection agency or negatively effect my credit score.
My husband and I are seniors and we switched to UHC about 2 yrs ago and I have not regretted it at all. I love the drs. Copay and when I need a question addressed they are there. I give them 5 stars and highly recommend them.
I paid 134.00 per month to supplement medicare. This company paid zero. By the time I caught it interest piled up and my health care costs in collections. I called to cancel my insurance and it was a nightmare. I had to go through 4 people no one could find my account. The 4th had me in tears she kept talking over me wouldnt cancel the insurance and was the worst customer service agent I have ever experieced she would do nothing I asked and kept talking. And one time I asked her to please stop talking I just wanted to cancel the insurance and wow she went on about something else. Never ever again with this company I paid for nothing
My mom spent over 5 months fighting them to get me coverage that I qualify for. Over 10 years of proof that I am disabled. It wasn't enough for them and they kept "losing" forms we would send. Because of them my condition is relapsed and now I need higher levels of care. Even now that I'm searching for help, an admission person calls me to tell me the insurance says I shouldn't be on my mom's plan because I'm over 26 and shouldn't have coverage. Like are you an idiot? How are you going to tell people that
This ins company is worthless incompetent doctors if you have something serious wrong with your health you can die most specialist dont accept their worthless ins then your left up a creek with no help in sight the gov needs to close them down people will die because of this sorry ins plan if you like living go antwhere but united healthcare! I had to speak to five people, make 3 phone calls in order to get someone who could change my phone number so I could get a verification to log in on line. And #5 had to make that change at some future point because the line was busy. I suspect it was inoperable since one of those people I tried to talk to couldn't hear me. Earlier this year, two newbies from United told my hospital representative that the tests I was doing in 3 days were not covered by my medicare plan. I had to cancel them even though the idiots from United were wrong. I never got an apology even after a grievance brought an upper level talking head to my assistance with the affirmation that of course the tests were covered. Did all insurance plans go to hell post pandemic or just United?
I thought this would be a good option but was wrong. Typical Insurance BS like denying a claim to see if you will fight it and requiring lots of paperwork (none of which employs 21st century tech) to just get a bill paid that was properly filed and it was denied in error. Also they changed their coverage this yr w/o saying they were and now only cover eye glasses every 2 yrs vs 1, as it had been. This is the pitfall of the "private Insurance" options vs just using standard medicare. Bye Bye in 2023
I was contacted by a United Health Care agent claiming to represent TTRS retired teacher organization. Offered to underwrite with same program my ex wife had. I asked immediately if affiliated with Well Med she said no. Confirmed same plan my ex wife had which she had been very pleased with. Said wanted to enroll. Called back 10 days later that because not the retired employee could not write TSTR plan but AARP the same was member AARP so she said write it. Called later and said could not write matching plan but did have plan could underwrite for people with diabetes. Failed to inform for patients with Chronic Care life threatening diseases. Did not explode very high deductibles only 50% hospital coverages and higher medicine deductibles. Filed complaint with United Health Care there response since sent email message with plan info on very small pica type my fault for signing and would not consider complaint. Filed complaint with Texas Ins License department they are investigating. United Health Card and Well Med mislead and cheat their insured.
Answer: They are a scam. They deny claims and cancel policies while still collecting premium installments or payments frauding customers out of millions of dollars. Read BBB complaints.

Read read read read ohhhh and READ your materials! Learn how to use a computer log on to your website and READ YOUR MATERIALS ONCE AGAIN DONT CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE DONT CALL UHC DONT DONT DONT!
