Great Benefit Emulators (See The Rainmaker novel/film). Mircromanaging my treatment plan and denying the prescribed meds because of the price alone.
Despite the expertise of my specialists, after 3 years on the right combination of meds, Great Benefit, I mean UHC, wants me to try cheaper therapies that we have already tried without success. My health is clearly not their concern, just the cost of my health.
Customer service reps: it's always a different dept that must handle some other detail, an endless wait to be transferred and an accidental disconnection during the transfer. Every time I call.
Two terrible experiences (one ongoing). Needed right knee surgery a few years ago but UHC made me do physical therapy before approving MRI. Had to drive, work, and attempt PT in severe pain. MRI finally showed 2 miniscus tears. Now 8 weeks of Sciatica pain w ineffective epidural and I'm still waiting for approval for surgery 9 days after submitted while I'm still in severe pain. UHC doesn't care how much pain the patient is in if it can save them a few bucks. Heartless bastards! I would have given them zero stars but option wasn't offered
Absolute total and complete garbage. We had an HMO dental plan and the only available dentists were the WORST and it literally saved us NO money. Hours and hours on the phone spent with them trying to get answers and we never got any that made sense. DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE!
When I tell you that this company is absolutely awful! They're uneducated. And incompetent. If it was up to them. I would have died. Over them not being able to find an RX number from my policy! For me to pick up my prescription for my asthma attack. They're AWFUL!
This insurance company seems to be a scam, in my opinion, they offer very high deductibles for little benefits, i. E., they don't want to cover expenses and you have to pay a lot of your own money before they finally cover a small percentage of the bill. I have found the customer service and internet interfaces to be woefully lacking. Bottom line they are a scam, again, my opinion. Highly DON'T recommend!
My wife & I had insurance through UHC. At some point, UHC decided to change how they pay our providers & put us on the hook for $3500. We've switched to Blue Cross & strongly recommend you avoid UHC.
These Folks deducted auto payments from my checking account for 3 years. When i called to make a request for a claim they told me My policy was expired but yet they collected auto payments from my bank for 3 years. Called 3 supervisors and have yet to get an explanation or a refund for a policy that never existed. Beware of this company's unethical business practices.
UnitedHealthCare is a disgrace and a joke in every sense. Forget whatever they self-describe themselves as, as a consumer of a good or service, I find them to be not only woefully incompetent, but they lie, have out of date data, and I cannot understand how this does not equate to FRAUD.
If you charge for a service – to provide medical resources for allegedly QUALIFIED, IN-NETWORK entities – and the database they allegedly maintain for subscribers (paying customers) has companies in it that are closed, have moved, or otherwise don't exist (primary doctors, orthopedists, radiology), how is that not FRAUD?
I even asked a call center representative to ensure a place was open and taking patients. After being on-hold for quite a while, she came back on, gave me a phone number and an address, and said they were taking new customers.
I drove to the address. The building was almost vacant and that provider was certainly no there. I called the number and could not get through the IVR to a person; it kept looping no matter what option I choose. Did the rep lie to me? I think so.
This is not a one-off as it has been happening for many years, and when you need routine care, when you need emergency services, to spend hours and hours in frustration not being able to take care of yourself or a loved one…
There is no accountability in UnitedHealthCare. Their service is essentially a sham, and I intend to take this as high as I can, especially to the Attorneys General office.
I have one of U. H. insurance plans which I have not used much. Lately I have seen commercials on television informing that we might be entitled to extra benefits at no extra cost but if we do not call to request those services we will not get them automatically. I decided to call U. H. and realized there representatives did not get the proper training or confuse you on purpose to get rid of you. My husband has a different plan with UH. And sometimes he spends hours on the phone with U. H. to get info or to solve a problem. Shouldn't seniors be entitled to some peace of mind?
UHC Medicare Supplement member for over 7 years.
They have the WORST customer service anywhere.
1) When you call, you have to listen to non-relevant disclaimers for a couple of minutes EVERY time.
2) You authenticate once with a person who does nothing but asks 6 questions just to ROUTE you to other department.
3) Next wait, the second stop asks 6 questions AGAIN to authenticate. If you are lucky, they have the answer. Most of the time, they do not know, AFTER YOU HAVE EXPLAINED YOUR QUESTION/ISSUE TWO TIMES ALREADY! They transfer you.
4) Wait. The third person asks authentication questions AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME. If they do not have answer, go to net stop, and next stop...
5) Even if you get an answer, it is general, not relevant and do not address your question/issue.
MOST HORRIBLE AND FRUSTRATING CUSTOMER SERVICE ANYWHERE!
No words for the suffering!
Sadistic farce. Denied Rx without proper review. Weeks to deliver THEIR DRGOD judgement on my life.
I haven't even been with this company a month and they still can't get my doctor straight. They lied to me 100% at the sales department when they signed me up. Said that all but one of my doctors are in network well they may be in network but I can't see them. Customer service is non existent with this company there are many 800 numbers to speak to customer service each one has a 40 minute wait time minimum to speak to someone. In my attempt to resolve the problem with my doctors it took 30 phone calls with a 40 minute wait time each to try to resolve this and it never got resolved I was told to go to my appointment everything was OK when I got to my doctor they refused to see me because the insurance wasn't right and then they lied about even getting a telephone call from the insurance company and began to blame it on billing they must have spoke to someone in billing. That didn't happen because whomever they spoke to in that office gave them my appointment day and time to tell me that's front office people. Billing would have no idea of when I'm coming and when I'm going unless they got paper from the front office.
It's open enrollment time if you know what's good for you Stay away from the United healthcare AARP Secure horizons focus plan. Get it this year and you will be absolutely sorry for 365 more days until you can get rid of them. I got lucky I've only got 2 weeks before I flush the United healthcare toilet.
Dr. Nirpaul Bains from Fresno threw away forms that needed to be sent out for a patient, without telling the patient! And failed to send the second round of forms! He doesn't read patient's file before, his advice contradict each other from one visit to another, and he blames it on the patient that he is incapable to keep things straight. His "team" seems extremely preoccupied with being rude with patients and gossiping with each other, instead of sending referrals for patients. I had only a couple of referrals that made it to the right destination in 3 months, but not: supplies, third party provider (for hematology services their clinic does not provide). Dr. Nirpaul Bains seems very preoccupied with his nurses and staff, instead of taking care of his patients. It took Dr. Bains 3 months to fail to send the correct referrals with all the codes needed! Dr. Bains, a patient could die without the necessary services, in case you did not understand this much from your medical school!
Attempted to use an in-network mental health provider for residential treatment for substance use disorder and other mental health issues. The initial plan was treatment for 4 weeks. After two weeks the facility professionals recommended 6 weeks of total treatment time. United Behavioral Health denied coverage (retroactively!) after only 12 days of treatment. AVOID them if you have any mental health care needs! It appears they only care about the money.
In a world where there are so many checks and balances put in place to verify a patient is the correct patient. It baffles me how erroneous and incoherent United Healthcare is regarding their record keeping of their members. For 5 years my son has always had his middle name on his insurance card. He and his Grandfather share the same first and last name. However, that is where the similarities end. They have different birthdays, different middle names, and obviously different social security numbers. Despite all these differences UHC since March 2020 has been denying my son's claims stating that he has another insurance. (Coincidentally its another UHC plan) If SOMEONE would of fact checked more than "First Name Last Name", ANYONE I wouldn't be receiving bill after bill because the claims are being denying. NOBODY would though, I keep calling, filing grievances, getting transferred to the escalation team. Where they all "understand" BUT no one could FIX IT. If a hospital did this and preformed the wrong procedure on a person because they only verified "first name last name" They would be sued. United Healthcare should be held to the same accountability. Short of taking a trip to corporate I have jumped through every hoop and filed every complaint and yet they still have NOT FIXED THEIR ERROR. Now I filed with NYS. HORRIBLE WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR MEMBERS!
United Health Care is TERRIBLE! I regret switching to this insurance company! First, I've never known an insurance company to choose a PCP (Primary Care Physician) for you. Who does that? What if I didn't want that PCP... you don't choose my doctor for me, that's my job!
Second, I received a referral from an Urgent Care facility. I followed up on the referral to an orthopedic, only to learn that United Health Care won't accept the referral because it didn't come from the my PCP (the one they chose for me) I also learned that the doctor at the Urgent Care facility is "in-network" with United Health, but because the referral didn't come from "my doctor" it couldn't be accepted. NEVER have I EVER had this problem with an insurance company.
C, I changed my PCP... you know from the one they chose for me... and after calling to let them know that I changed it, I was told that I couldn't choose the doctor (that's in-network) because he's not in my "market code." Apparently market codes identify a specific geographic region, and you have to choose a doctor within that region! WTH!? Why is that even a thing!?! Furthermore, the market code that I was listed under is in South Florida. I live in Georgia! I've never even lived in Florida! In summary, I HATE United Health Care, and it's by far the worst insurance decision I've ever made! Your policies are WACK, and your "rules, regulations and market codes" need to be seriously evaluated. Have a great day, and if you haven't already selected United Health Care as your health insurance company, please don't. You deserve better.
They sound clueless and make it difficult to work with. They are a headache disguised as an insurance company.
Good luck if you plan on using added benefits. They will give you wrong information and deny your claim. Stay with who you have, and save your self from the aggravation!
I changed my insurance to unite in August. My dentist sent in a approval request for my dental work in October 2019. Unite ignored the request until February 2020. I was unable to get any dental care until 2020. I'm unable to compete my dental work, because I'm out of money! The 3200 they give you for dental is spent upon there approval! If unite had responded to the request in 2019 I would have been able to get my dental work completed. Unfortunately for me I have to wait until next year! Which could cause me to loose teeth.
After multiple years of paying for allergy shoots for our son, UHC decided in October of last year that "allergy shots are not medically necessary" and that basically anything to do with allergy medications or healthcare is junk science. This change occurred in the last quarter of our policy year, so it was a change midstream of coverage. We actually increased our policy in January and they still refuse to pay for allergy shots. The "Doctor" that reviewed whether allergy shots are medically necessary? A plastic surgeon! How bad of a plastic surgeon do you have to be that you are sitting behind a desk reviewing paperwork?
