Terrible experience
October 22, 2020

Non mask wearing non social distancing movers who wouldnt wear masks despite my repeatedly asking them to. Im 68 and diabetic and they didnt care for my safety. They destroyed my desk and said i would be reimbursed but after repeated attempts i received no response. They milked the time clock and charged me twice the estimate cost. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

Moved from my three bedroom home in July Requested experienced movers. They sent one with a couple years of experience and a fella who had been on the job for 3 days. Spent an inordinate amount of time wrapping furniture with plastic wrap even though I purchased 20 blankets from them to protect wood furniture. Many wood pieces damaged. Couch had grease on it as did chairs. Move cost $1545. 00 for two miles move. Estimator was way off and men with experience could have done it more efficiently..

Not professional
October 21, 2020

Due to the nature of our work, we constantly need to move every few years. We have had a few experiences with different removalist companies. Unfortunately, we didn't have a positive experience with Two men and a truck. We didn't have a particular large amount of furniture to move, as we moved most of the things ourselves in order to keep our costs low. We were moving from Balwyn VIC to Geelong VIC (one story house to one story house) during a stage 2 lockdown (May 2020) on a weekday non peak hour.
The list of things need to moved are below:
1 two-seated sofa
1 dining table with 6 dining chairs
1 standard size TV unit set
1 coffee table
1 single bed
1 double bed
2 bedside tables
1 dressing table
1 medium size book shelf
And 1 upright piano (which we paid $185 extra)

We had gathered all the things in the lounge room on the moving day and disassembled any furniture that we could to try to make the move smooth.

The removalists moved at a glacial pace. They took 4 hours to load/unload the listed furniture. The total cost was $1122. 22 with a large chunk of it spent on the return trip. Which they charged 1.5hours travel time from Geelong back to Melbourne CBD which we weren't particularly happy about. On a non peak 11:30am weekdays during lockdown, it shouldn't have taken 1.5hours on the return trip. We felt like we were being ripped off and they were not being honest about the actual travel time.

Another thing we weren't happy about is that they put scratches on our piano while moving. We thought they are professionally trained to move fragile item like this because they charged extra for piano. They were not. The piano slipped off the moving trolley and hit the floor, which has certainly impacted the piano.

See photos attached about the scratches they made during moving.

I'm not happy or impressed about their service, will not use their service again and won't recommend it to others either.

The Worst
October 8, 2020

We contracted them for a move from Connecticut to Massachusetts. We needed their largest truck but on moving day they only loaded it 80% full and the rest of our stuff would have fit. They said they were afraid of being overweight. So we needed to have a 2nd truck come the next day. The 2nd truck they sent was also their largest truck which only loaded about 20% full. The driver noted "this is ridiculous. Our Smallest truck would have been fine" for the remaining items. Not only did they rip us off for a 2nd truck, they ripped us off for their largest truck AND we had to contract w a 3rd party storage company because the 2nd truck couldn't make an interstate move on the same day. These guys are scam artists--hire them at your own peril.

September 11, 2020

I had 3 men and a truck for a whole household of items. The men were very caring and hardworking. Ingenious with fitting everything in the truck and storage unit. I can't thank them enough for their help during one of the most stressful days of my life. I appreciated their teamwork and kindness. Thank you gentleman.

Unprofessional and Scamming
September 4, 2020

Two Men and a Truck were hired by my mom for a short move. They arrived extremely late and didn't explain the contract. Then in turn broker her 4K TV and TV stand. $1400 worth of items and offered a measly $138 for compensation. They didn't protect the tv at all. I would run far away from these guys if you want to protect your things.

Deceptive Billing
August 21, 2020

This company is missing honesty and integrity. Deceptive billing. They doubled the actual travel times to knock up the bill by a small amount they didn't think I would care about. I was given an excuse that it was a big truck and there was traffic (Wednesday 2pm traffic is nonexistent in London). I knew all destinations well and can ride a bicycle in the same time they gave me for travel, google maps agrees. I had someone present at the start location sign the invoice and they are standing behind the position that it was a signed estimate. I was under the belief as I was told before hand that they would charge me the actual time, not a random figure they decided between my estimated time window. Their go to point is that I was not there. I did however have them timed at the original and final destination on video at both places so their only defense was travel times and it was signed. There were no problems with the move just the easily documentable exaggerated costs. I used London, Ontario.

Inexperienced and/or careless movers in Auburn, AL
August 17, 2020

Three movers arrived on time to load my items into a rental moving truck; two movers were younger (college-aged) men. While one admitted it was his first day, the other two seemed as if they'd worked together on previous moves. They took less time than originally quoted (a positive); however, when I went to check the truck at the end of the job, I found many boxes that were clearly labeled with "Up" and upward facing arrows lying on their sides, boxes tilted sideways, lighter boxes crushed underneath heavier boxes, and damage to the legs of at least two of my pieces of furniture. I provided blankets to use with the furniture, yet they were balled up in the corner in the end. Clearly these gentlemen did not care or did not have the experience/training to organize in a professional manner. After the movers departed, I spent time rearranging boxes and household items to relieve some of the pressure from crushed boxes and to be able to close the rolling truck door. I would expect much more competence and worker training from a company that charged me $500 for an hour of work. I would not hire this company again.

HORRIBLE Customer Service
August 5, 2020

Worst customer service I have ever received in my life! This is the third time I have used this company because their movers do such a great job. With this last move, I had damage to my wall which was not a big deal becasue they have a service that will fix it. I was never contacted by them so, I called their "quality control" Dustin twice and left a message and contacted my orignial customer service person who said they would talk with Dustin. I never heard anything from either it was after two weeks. I contacted corporate since I was not getting any response and had to be out of my apartment in a week. Dustin replied then and said his phone is not working and he had my wrong e-mail. I was contacted by the company that would repair my wall and they could not be out for a month. Unacceptable. Luckily I have a great landlord who said they could fix the damages and wouldn't charge me. I let Dustin know and never received an apology or offer to have money taken off my move. Due to the lack of customer service I will NEVER use them again.

Worst movers ever
July 11, 2020

Absolutely the WORST moving experience EVER and as a retired military spouse, my family has moved a lot! Prior to the move, nothing but nice and professional but the day of... the exact opposite. They were the cheapest quote and I got what I paid for two men and a truck I guess the bad attitudes and unprofessional were just a tip. Lesson learned, never again will I use them.

See below the gist of what I emailed to the administration to which I have received no response, no compensation for damaged items, and no call back.

I would strongly suggest protecting yourself and knowing what you are getting into when working with this company.

I have not been this disappointed in the result of something in a very long time. It has taken me a couple of days to calm down so I could politely express my disappointment and explain with as little subjective details as possible. Please read below.

This move was stressful and frustrating. I want to underline that your staff moved 6 suitcases, 6/7 boxes, 4 chairs and 2 bar stools, a small credenza, a couch, and couch that was in two pieces, 2 large cushions, 1 queen mattress, 1 twin mattress, one 3 drawers chest of drawers, a carpet, 1 queen bed frame (head, foot, side panel and lats), a floor lamp, a mac desk top, and a stereo (record player and amp with 2 speakers) 2 bed side tables, two lamps for the bed side tables and a bunk bed and 5 drawer chest of drawers ( bunk bed = desk, drawers and shelf unit, bed frame, base and lats).

1. Il-equipped- We instructed your staff, before arrival to make sure the people were equipped with straps to help them lift furniture up the stairs because that was the most efficient, safe, and energy effective way to move it.
Your staff came unprepared, and when I told them they needed straps before starting, they said that they were not equipped and that their company has many definition of straps, and then rather than getting the materials they needed they proceeded to start, they started. I know how heavy and awkward this furniture is, I moved it already on my own, why did you not pay head to my requests?

2. NOT TAKING DIRECTIONS - Receptivity: There was no rhyme or reason with their listening skills. We instructed your staff to NOT spend their time wrapping my son's room because the furniture was not of much value, but to focus on the remaining furniture (we repeated this information 2 times). They took this information and proceeded to fully wrap and secure my son s bedroom furniture (TAKING AN HOUR - see items above) and then neglecting to wrap properly the rest of the house.

The result is that our mattress has black stuff on it, and some of our furniture was dirty on the fabric, and there was damage to the credenza, the record player and stereo/amp were not wrapped at all and now there is a contact failure problem on one of the knobbies - where was the rapping and blankets for these pieces?

3. Speed and efficacy.
Speed - That is 50 items, and it took them around 6 hours. They did not pack anything, and WE HELPED THEM MOVE, LOAD THE TRUCK, and UNLOAD THE TRUCK.

Efficacy - using dollies to hoist furniture up 3 flights of stairs is STRATEGICALLY INEFFICIENT and most ENERGY depleting way of moving up stairs AND it causes STRAIN ON THE FURNITURE and is NOT SECURE.

It was so INEFFICIENT and SLOW, we had to help them.

4. Accountability
DAMAGE to the furniture, to the WALLS OF MY OLD APARTMENT occurred as the dolly was not being used correctly. Many of the articles had no protective blankets on them. Drawers were not removed and items fell out. We ARE STILL WAITING FOR COMPENSATION AND FOLLOW UP - it has been a week.

The staff was OVERBOOKED and ILL-EQUIPPED for the job.

5. Safety
A. Not having the proper equipment for the move and proper training for your staff
B. Keeping social distancing and wearing a mask or some kind of face covering is important. We supplied one of your workers a mask (he did not wear it near us at all) and the other wore his sparingly despite voicing having an at risk family member.

Again, your staff was very nice and very polite. So that is the only good point.

Great move, minus the theft!
June 13, 2020

When it comes to the actual move, our moving team did a great job, and kept their spirits up, despite the five-hour job turning into an eleven-hour job. They worked very hard, so we ordered them pizza, and tipped them $300.

The problem stemmed from a couple days later, when we discovered theft--NOT loss, but actual evidence of theft. We had an unopened Nintendo Switch Lite console stored in our closet, originally intended to be a gift. We kept searching our belongings once settled in, figuring it had to be somewhere. We ended up finding the original packaging, empty, with the inside torn up, as if somebody wanted to quickly remove the console and charger before anyone noticed. We lived in a controlled access apartment building. There's nobody else who could have taken it besides one of them.

We contacted the office, and spoke with the operations supervisor. Initially, he expressed concern and understanding about what happened, and said that theft is not something they stand for. He asked me to give him a day to find out what course of action he had to take. I did.

I called back the next day, close to the end of their business day, because he never called me. He apologized, saying he didn't get a chance to do his due diligence. I gave him another day. The next day, I called again several times, due to his not being available. Eventually, he left for the day before I could reach him. On the fourth day, I called again, and the front desk person said she would let him know I called. A little while later, he called me back saying that his corporate office said the only thing I could do was file a police report, and that they would cooperate. I don't have much recourse beyond that. He didn't know what else to tell me, because all three of his guys passed background checks, with nothing beyond a speeding ticket. I filed my police report, but even the officer told me not to expect much, and suggested taking civil action.

I'm simply flabbergasted that I paid nearly $2,500 for a local move, to a company whose slogan is "Movers who care," only for one of their team to blatantly steal from us, and their manager then writes us off.

If you use Two Men and a Truck to move, they're great with heavy furniture, but pack all of your own belongings if you don't want them to steal from you!

The moving crew was good but after they left I discovered that my dryer pedestal would not stay shut and my sleep number bed would not work properly. I called three times to see if they would pay for the repairs because when I hired them they sai they would cover damages up to a certain amount. No one ever returned my call. I would not recommend them as they don't stand by their claim that they would cover damages!

Horrible move company!
March 22, 2020

I hired Two Men And A Truck on February 28th and from start to finish it was a horrible experience. I moved my mom who lives in a one bedroom apartment and she was moving to another one bedroom apartment about 6 blocks away. The two movers arrived unprepared. They did not have any tools on them to disassemble the furniture. When we questioned this they mentioned that their company does not provide tools. My middle age mom had to provide basic screw drivers and allen keys in order for them to complete this task. The movers asked my sister who just came off a recent c-section if she could take care of removing the TV off the stand, which was RIDICULOUS! These guys were so slow that my sister had to assist them in disassembling the dining room table and assist them. She also assisted in assembling the furniture at the new location. The movers arrived at 9:30am and were completed by 7:00pm, there were times that my sister would go looking for them and they were not on the truck or anywhere, which clearly they were taking too many breaks to slow down the process. They blamed the elevator as we were on the 19th floor yet the new location there was a dedicated elevator going up to the 2nd floor. The hours for a one bedroom move simply does not add up! The movers also did not advise us that another mover was required for this project to help speed things up. I escalated the issue of excessive time to complete the move, the lack of tools and the manager (Milton) argued with me the entire time. He lacks customer service skills and basically supported whatever lies his movers shared with him. The movers and manager were completely unprofessional. Lastly, the movers also advised us that the insurance was not necessary, so we opted out of it then they ended up destroying my mom's credenza. We made a claim after the move and it was denied. I would stay away form this company. They don't deserve to be in business. I was quoted $600-800 and based on the amount of hours it took to complete such a simple move it totaled to $1,500. I had to fight with Milton to get it down to $1,155. It was a horrible experience! It was literally the WORST move company I ever dealt with. You will be sorry if you use them. The whole experience was BAD! Stay away from this company!

The Fishers IN franchise is terrible. They dropped two boxes and destroyed the contents. The worst part was that two items were stolen. The move was completed in October 2019.

Worst Move Ever!
February 13, 2020

My move occurred in November 2019 and it was one of the worst moves ever. I have moved around the country with no issues but somehow going: 40 minutes away seemed too much for this company. It started with the team leader who started grumbling because we had them do some packing. The packing was haphazard and because of that we wound up with many items broken. Then as they started delivering items to our new home they didn't have any more mats and didn't have any padding for the for the banisters or doors. This lead to lots of knicks, scrapes, and scratches to the trim, doors and drywall as well as dirty white carpeting. FYI- the home had been freshly painted and carpets cleaned before we moved in.

Then when they were bringing in a large armoire that was purchased for $4000. They broke the foot off and now we have rigged up so it won't fall over. In order to get the armoire in the house, they took the garage man door off. When they were going back to the old house for another load they propped it up. Of course they forgot it was propped up and the door slammed on the ground. Putting a gouge in the wood floors and completely damaging the door lockset beyond repair.

In addition, they randomly left things out on the back patio without telling us in the middle of winter, left about 10% of our household items at the old house, threw anything they delivered later in the evening randomly into the garage and started to get a very "who cares" attitude late in the day.

To top it off they broke my 11 year old daughter's snow globe without telling us. I found out about it when I found broken glass from it on a bookshelf & in the carpet of my daughter's room. The snow globe was no where in sight. So later that night I was lucky enough to clean up broken glass & explain to my daughter how the snow globe, which was a present from her grandmother, was now broken.

Worst of all was Justin, their million dollar sales club winner, who completely underestimated the job. This added to the stress of his workers because they had a very long day and added to the stress of my family who had to get a young girl to school in the morning. Then as they are telling us that we owe them additional $1546. 18 at 10 PM at night they pull out the scare tactics. The entire crew stood around my husband in the kitchen as he discussed with Mike the increase in our bill. Mike would not leave our home until we put the entire amount on our credit card. He said to call Brandon, the manager to have him reduce the bill the next day. Of course, Brandon refused to reduce the bill and was very rude.

So all in all we got to pay more for a million dollar sales person to underestimate our job, for the crew to show up without the proper equipment, for items to be damaged, our home to be damaged, to listen to infighting of the crew on how best to move items, inefficient use of manpower & trucks and then to be intimidated in our own house. Though we did agree to pay them for some additional time for packing, they decided what was fair for the damages and just credited it back to card without our agreement. It wasn't nearly enough for the damages that were caused and headaches they caused. Funny part is we paid more for their terrible service than we would've paid for the full service movers we were going to go with. And just to be decent people we fed the crew & even tipped them because we felt they were put in a no win situation.

Don't be fooled by their low estimates, and their catchy slogan about "treating you like they would treat their own grandmother". I wouldn't treat my worst enemy this poorly!

I needed to move 45 minutes away to a new location.

They charged me interstate fees of $1700, even though I moved all the boxes with a uhaul truck and they only had to move the big heavy furniture, they still charged me $1700 initial fee. I wanted it to go to their storage while my new house was having new flooring installed so later I found out I would have more charges when they brought it to me.

When I called to get it out of storage they wanted to charge me interstate fees again, and I told them I was only 15 minutes from their location. She finally said it would be half of the $1700 because there should not be interstate charges. So now I'm thinking they overcharged me on the first charge.

When my furniture was brought to me, a lot of the furniture had damage. Although most of it was minor, what looked like new furniture was now all dinged up and the worst damage was done to my hutch. They broke the support arm that bears the weight on one side. Although two bookcases were really damaged as well.

The mover that brought the furniture from storage said someone had removed the pads from half my stuff.

Awful move
December 18, 2019

OUR MISSION
"The mission of TWO MEN AND A TRUCKĀ® is to continuously strive to exceed our customers' expectations in value and high standard of satisfaction." Instead, what happened to us was the "Move from Hell"!

This past August, we contracted with the Shakopee, MN office of Two Men and a Truck to do our short distance move. Our problems began when only two people arrived despite the fact that we were promised 3 people due to the fact that we had some very heavy furniture.

The movers that were sent were very friendly but incredibly careless. As many movers do, they loaded some of our items in large cardboard boxes on a dolly to get them to the truck. The problem was that they paid no attention to the way things were thrown into these boxes piling heavy items on top of lighter breakable ones. They kept assuring us that things were safe but as we found out after getting our things delivered, this was not the case.

When our property arrived at our new home, we discovered the following. A damaged antique lamp, a broken lamp, a very expensive lampshade with a deep crease in it, bent piece on another lamp, gouges and scrapes on numerous pieces of wooden furniture, a large chip out of the corner of a desk, a rip in the fabric of a dining room bench, a large tear in the bottom of our newer expensive mattress, and a number of other small issues too numerous to mention.

Next came the 4-month ordeal of trying to get things fixed through this company. In most cases they were able to find a repair person to do a reasonably good job. Our king-sized bed is no longer under warranty because they gouged holes in the mattress. The repair person cut a lousy paper-like cloth and glued it saying that was the best they would do. When it came to the bench mentioned above, we had to send it back twice. First, they patched the once pristine fabric-not acceptable. Next when it was returned, it appeared the fabric had been attached to the wooden structure as if by a 5-year-old. The fabric was loosely attached to the frame and the corners stuck out in all sorts of directions. The third time it was fixed, the bench was delivered by Andrew, the store manager, who said the work had been done by professionals. The corners stuck out like noses; the fabric could be pulled away from the corners as they were so loose. There also were two small holes in the fabric. When we pointed the situation out to Andrew, he refused to even look at the bench and made the comment that they are just movers, not scientists. He became quite intransigent when we tried to get him to help and basically told us too bad. "Some people just can't be pleased." (We had accepted all other repairs)

This company's movers seem to get pretty good reviews overall, but in our case, they were apparently very poorly trained and careless as well. Further, the manager was unwilling to make sure that things were right before dismissing us. If I could give them a rating of less than 1 star, I would have done so.

So much for their Mission Statement.

They're absolutely the worst
November 28, 2019

We are in our 70's and required help moving from Augusta to Wichita. These guys are the worst. They severely damaged four book shelves which cost about $360 each. Many of our other pieces of furniture were were scratched. Overall they were fast but very careless. After meeting with the manager and settling on a value for compensation for the damaged they caused, we never received any compensation, nor heard from them again. If you don't care about how your personal belongs are handled by others, these are your guys.
