Intuit and other companies offering tax preparation services have lobbied the US government for years to prevent the IRS from introducing a free filing service. Most if not all other peer countries have such a free tax filing service. Intuit can take our money, but they will not have our respect. Vote for politicians who will support free filing with the IRS and are not compromised by corporate money.
I was charged 200.00 for a premium tax filing on my federal taxes, I engaged their support who were useless. I was forced to print and mail my tax forms and cut off from asking questions. I feel ripped off for what I was charged, and its useless for a 1040 filing if support is untrained in HSA Health Account Tax rules and forms.
The TurboTax phone support is terrible. The agents do not know how to use the program and try to get help from other agents that are no better. I have spent hours on the phone trying to get help with inputting CCA on form T776. Called 4 time with no knowledgeable agent to be found. For very basic returns returns it may be ok but you need to be tax accounting knowledgeable. Help center is Complete waist of time.
I am not sure why but I always get misled by this company (filed with Credit Karma one year and it was great but now its all through Turbotax). I even checked the tool before filing to confirm my taxes would be free but when I finish they always want money to file. If you are really filing a simple tax return save your self a headache and file for FREE with Cash App tax. The interface may be slightly better on Turbotax but if you know what you are doing Cash App tax is much quicker.
I followed all of the steps and reached the end only to be told I can't file unless I pay for an upgrade. And they said I owed over $1000! FreeTaxUSA was free for federal and I only owed $173. I'm never using TurboTax again and I want everyone I know to avoid the headache I had!

I just tried to re-open my old 2021 software and the system did some kind of update. Now when it wants to start up it is asking for an activation code that I don't have from the 2021 packaging.
Turbotax customer support is worthless and extremely stupid in trying to help fix this problem.

I rejected deluxe on every step that offer me and I work on my taxes for 2 hours then when I was about to file, they charged my card for 125$! For a service they didn't provided and I did not use...
I did not finished the file and tried to start over, but it didn't let me. Called them, they gave me a refund link and it did not work. Called again and they said finish the filing and we will refund you. I did what they say, but when I called for the 3rd time they literally said why did you finish filing we can't refund you!
To make it even worse they said "oh, we are putting a not on you account that next year we don't charge you!". ARE YOU KIDDING ME!put a note to not charging me on a free service... WOW! They are the worst... If I have to pay for my taxes, I prefer to not do the job myself, so I am not using Intuit turbotax services again and I suggest you stay away from them as well.
You can't track your check that they sent you in paper form they don't give you a tracking number and they they send your check back to the IRS if you have a wrong address instead of putting it in your account they don't give you options waiting 16 days for a check when they said it was going to be here on the 14th and 15th can't issue another one and they make it like you may be lying
I called to get assistance with downloading my disc. After waiting on line forever.The representative was not helpful at all. He was rude and hung the phone up on me. I can't believe how he treated me. It was awful. I will never use their products again.
After spending much time entering data, when I got to reporting Interest Income. I was informed that the "Free" offer was invalid because my interest income exceeded $1500. I was informed that I would have to pay them $59 to continue! They didn't disclose this before I wasted precious time and divulged important, private information. They also left me nervously hanging on how long it would take to remove all the data I entered. They said it could take 72 hours.
Turbo Tax did not bring down all info from a 1098 R, then when asked for help to put info in by hand denied problem and finally when had penalty and interest assessed would not honor guarantee.

I ordered by mistake and did not file. I called customer services several times to cancel the order and each time they told me I I can cancel and give me a form. Then I submitted and described why I want to cancel the order. But they never return, just told me:because our Satisfaction Guaranteed policy only covers TurboTax CD/Download products.
I am a person not like to cancel order. But this time it is really bad! There product not good. Many issues i have to call them to fix! I cannot fix myself!

I do my own taxes every year. Some reason I decided to use TurboTax big mistake. There process is eazy but they don't give you all the options. It cost same as if you have someone do it in person for you. In my case never got the $40. Discount for new customer. I called the customer service. They told me call after 24 hours and we will give you the refund. After 24 hours they told me sorry no refund because you already E-filed your taxes. This is BS, never using it again and won't recommend it to anyone.
I have been using Turbo Tax for a decade now. OMG they now have some ridiculous fees now when you check out, and all after doing more than an hour of doing my taxes! First, at the checkout, a $59 fee to now file your state tax, or they will remove it from your return. Then to pay, if you use a credit card, there is a $44 fee! If you have it taken from your federal return, that is also a $44 fee! Those are your only choices. I will never use Turbotax again.
1. The whole purpose of this program should be to make it as easy as possible to file your taxes. Unfortunately, the UI is so bad and often the given information is confusing.

Seems fairly good, but the latest update wiped out parts of our PA state tax data. I had to renter several items.
Also, there seems no traceability for capital gains entries on form 220AI...and nothing was entered for some tax periods, which the PA state tax forms require. Annoying.
Was signed For a service I did not want tried several times too to be taken off of this service I did not want again and again they keep tell me they cannot refund my money even though I did not use the service did not want the service as I explain to him many times over they just don't care about customer service they only care about their upsell
Avoid Turbo-Tax. There are serious flaws and non-financial people get themselves in trouble by trusting them.
This year, they forgot all of my personal information. I had to re-enter it manually. My attempt to import my W2 and 1099s either failed or imported inaccurate information. Had to input all data manually. Trying to correct their erroneous data was very difficult. What's the point of using software at this point?
I ended up completing my return it by hand to avoid trouble. The instructions for cancelling the subscription are deliberately elusive. No chance of getting somebody on the phone.
I originally called just to make sure i had things right. After two hours, customer support said that someone from Ohio should go over this (state i live) because she was "not familiar with the exact rules and papers That lady supposedlyhad 15 years experience." The next person i ended up with supposedly, the person i received at customer support had 20 years experience. They make sure to let you know asap. He didn't know how to navigate the site at all, hung up on me (I am a nice person and never got mad) because he had no clue, texted me that he needed to go over it with another colleague and that he would call the next day. This was after three hours of navigating the site with him! He did call me the next day to tell me that he is still going over it and would call me the next day. He still hasn't called back. Did I mention that this was all over just a Rita tax and nothing else? Well they screwed it up hard core, first lady sent in the messed up Rita tax that stated I owed $500 to it. She even said that there was no way.
Don't try calling the Turbo Tax number given online. You wait half an hour just to be told that they do not know and that I need to upgrade my service. Please use another tax service.
For the tax year 2023, I used turbo tax to complete my tax return like many years in the past. This year, I helped (3) people complete their tax returns as well, myself being the referrer of them. I completed my return as well as the other (3) person's returns in the time span of January 01 - February 21. On February 22,2023, I received an email from Turbo Tax of a referral promotion where the new filer got 20% off turbo tax fees and the referrer got $25 per person referred. I was frustrated that I received this promotion after I had filed (3) tax returns besides mine, so I called in and was assured by (2) customer service associates that I would retroactively be able to claim the promotional offer. The links that each of them sent did not solve my issue, so I called a third time and I was told that the fine print of the promotion prohibited this.
Answer: Very difficult to get, had to call numerous times to get a response and then there was no, let me help you with that. They were uncaring about my situation, I had to pursue questioning what they can do and would end up forwarding me to departments that did not respond.
