Got sucked into this company because I needed help and not much money, tried and tried to cancel, waited on phone, left call back no. And they hang up or once got voicemail. This started the whole process again, they got my money for several months, took money out of debit acct. Trying to stop it. They knew when my social security hit my bank before I did! Said it was wrong e-mail address I gave them, they never offered to correct theirs or refund. This has stopped me from doing anything online Just checked debit card today and they hit it again. Going to turn them into bbb and att. General.

On searching myself, I found my record for driving with painkillers on Truthfinder. I don't know how I got into their systems. I spent several months contacting Truthfinder, refused to pay any online services for removing information, and they finally removed my information. I then started to notice that now my information started popping up on other websites like localcrimenews.com, courtrecords.org etc. The timing was obviously very suspicious as for months, there was nothing else other than truthfinder. My information went off on Truthfinder and showed up on different websites immediately after. Has this happened to you?

This is a place that gets your account info, & will NEVER stop charging, even when cancelled. They hit our account 15 times at $29.89 each month. My wife joined during the Free Period, & did 1 search. Then cancelled. So from November 2016 to February 2018, they got $448.35. AS Truthfinder's put it, "As a courtesy", they did refund $269.01. Well, that alone proved they were in the wrong. But they kept $179.34. Watch out, they'll do the same. If you do join, you better watch your account EVERY MONTH... They even said their reports aren't full proof, unless you have the person's social security number... Don't waste Your time, or YOUR money.

Very little information available. I have used another online information finder and it had much more information and the cost was less. I couldn't remember the name of it. Truthfinder even charges an additional fee to get the telephone information where there is none. I needed information because I lost my cell phone with all my phone numbers on it and I thought I could get the information this way. Truthfinder even asked if the information they gave was correct and asked me, the client if it is accurate. Also I wanted more information about a person who had died which I found out with the other online information finder, but there were no details and I was hoping to find out more. Truthfinder didn't even list the person as deceased! Not worth the time and money.

On my own relatives, there was no mention of marriages, divorces and deaths. Most of the "associates" I had never heard of. There seems to be no effort to search for the correct middle name--- they don't even ask for it to inflate the search results. So you gt a lot of criminal records from people with same first and last name, but in different states, different ages, etc. HUGE waste of time and money. The site should be banned from the web for deceptive advertising.

I was looking up address information on a recently deceased relative and decided to check my own information on TruthFinder. They have my FaceBook picture with an incorrect birth name, a college I never attended, an incorrect profession and work history! However, they did include a couple of correct addresses where I have lived. I emailed the company to possibly straighten out this mess, and they replied that they get their information from lots of different places and made absolutely no attempt to correct anything! Therefore, I would not trust anything they report on anyone!

I was looking for confirmation of an address. TruthFinder came up as one of the first on a Google search as a provider of information. I should have known that it was not legitimate by the fact that you have to enter all of your details BEFORE the search is started, and there is ABSOLUTELY no information to say after you do that, and it "performs" all of its searches" with its lovely array of widgets whizzing along on screen for ages, that ONE IS EXPECTED TO PAY AT THE END, EVEN FOR SO-CALLED "PUBLIC RECORDS". CON CON CON CON CON. Surely, if they were reputable, they would say up front that a payment is required. I didn't pay cash, but they made money off me anyway by selling my email address on to crap spammers. Glad I keep a spare email address or two for these occasions...

I was looking for address information on my nephew and entered the information on truthfinder.com thinking it was a free information site and they tried to charge me I closed it off and later they send an email wanting me to pay them, I told them I can get this information free from my state public records. The next day I discovered 18 more spam than I usually get and they were all "Low life" type of spam. They send me another request to pay for the information. I told them to get lost and wrote a review in Hyghya.com and the spam stopped for one day then started back up. Good thing they never got my credit card information. With the kind of spam they send my account would have been drained.

This site is a waste of time! I suspected that, but was curious nevertheless and payed the 27 dollars just to satisfy my curiosity-but that is the hook. The information is nothing more than public records, some misinformation because of same name people, and then it is cross referenced with other people, relatives, etc, from your past. Much wrong information! Do not waste your time and money here, I already did so I could warn you!

The information they provide is limited and most of it is wrong! After searching at least 15 times, they have as people's last name as being born with their "married" name. Repetitive useless information. No marriages, no birthplaces, no job status, after knowing that my one of my family members had a criminal background, it did NOT show up on the report. When you check to see if there were any sexual predator info, it only shows what predators are in the neighborhood. You must be kidding me! Paying $29.00 for this crap! I signed up yesterday and it is now 8 hours later and it is CANCELLED! BEWARE!

TruthFinder is a scam company pretending to sell background checks when they are actually stealing and selling YOUR information! I signed up for a background report on somebody. Before I even paid for the report, I started receiving hundreds of spam and scam emails every day about porn, foreign brides, drugs, bitcoins, and worse.

When I contacted TruthFinder, they informed me that the privacy policy on their website states basically states that they may give away my personal and private information to whomever they choose. They said I could "unsubscribe," but this is not the case. The damage is done, my private email address is now in the hands of spammers and scammers all over the world. There is no unsubscribing, that ship has sailed.

The one other time this nightmare happened to me it took around 40 hours to change my email address in the hundreds of places it's used. I bill $125 an hour for my time, so I make it around $6000 that I'm out of pocket thanks to TruthFinder.

After some background research, I believe they are running a scam. On their BBB page, the CEO listed is also the CEO of a nearby company named "The Control Group" which specializes in email marketing. Therefore I'm making the assumption that TruthFinder is not selling background checks at all, it's a front for stealing and selling email addresses and private information. They also own numerous other domains such as http://www.top4backgroundchecks.com/ and bakgroundchecks.org where they pretend to be a different company giving themselves good reviews. Its pretty obvious because when you go to the privacy policy pages of these websites, they are all in San Diego, and all use the same language. VERY SHADY!

What TruthFinder does not seem to have grasped, is just because you give yourself permission in a website policy to do something, does not make it legal. The FTC and BBB have been interested to hear about what they are up to.

Bottom line, do NOT trust this company.

I must have lost my marbles because I know better, but when I searched up my son after accidentally clicking on a link on a different website, it showed that "First, Middle, Last" has 10+ criminal charges... Mind you, he has a very rare Hebrew middle name and is the only first, middle, and last name person with this name in the entire US. OK, so now I am hooked. (This was all purposely misleading!) If they had just put that "first, last" in the State of XXX has 10+ criminal record, I would have skipped, as that is so very easy to see thru, but when they come up with his actual middle name and put the entire middle name in quotes, that means something. So I purchased, and on his criminal record section it says: "First, Middle Last' name has zero criminal record, well now... Under the section of non matching, ie: first and last, there were "others" but not the person/son I was looking up. I called the company and they gave me classic corporate lines about how the info might not be accurate, etc... Yea, they purposely did this: Put the "First, Middle and Last" name in quotes to get your attention and cause you to buy. Then when you do, the truth comes out. This was a classic bait and switch, or as I like to call it: A purposeful lie to get $30 from me... Beware, Stay Away. Don't fall for the report info or anything in "quotes". It it there to rip you off also.

It appears that this company deliberately misleads you into thinking you are paying for one month of unlimited access to search reports. However, you are really agreeing for them to bill you each month for close to $30 if you don't cancel the account. Cancelling the account online entails you having to click that you want to cancel the account at least 4 times. They even switch the location of the cancel button from left side to right side to make you accidentally not cancel the account. The biggest problem with this "service" is that much of the info is flat out wrong. For my own inquiry, there were several alleged criminal actions against me and I NEVER HAD ANYTHING EXCEPT A TRAFFIC TICKET IN MY WHOLE LIFE AND I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN. AVOID THIS COMPANY AS IF YOU WILL GET THE PLAGUE IF YOU EVEN ENTER YOUR NAME ON THEIR SITE! This is truly an awful company offering dubious value. Save your money and spend in person time with your friends and relatives.
