I found this site while frantically searching the Internet after a pet sitter I had hired cancelled on me a few days before I was leaving to go on vacation. When I found Trusted Housesitters I thought it was too good to be true. Its been a life saver. I cant overstate how wonderful its been and how many great people Ive met. I love paying a flat fee per year and knowing I have access to a huge pool of people who truly love animals. Even when Ive posted sits at the last minute Ive always been able to find someone. Cant say enough great things!

Having joined as homeowners a few years ago we found the perfect sitters almost immediately, they sat for us quite a few times and we were very very happy with the whole process. Having a fairly complicated set up at home we'd found it hard to get away before coming across this site. We thought "it's a great idea" and gave it a go, and although the website is a tad clunky in parts to upload ad's to, once you've done that and you start getting responses we've found that the hardest thing is narrowing it down. Having rejoined recently as our lovely regular guys couldn't make one of our dates we again had a very positive experience, and although we don't usually leave reviews about every little or big thing in our lives we felt that this does deserve a positive one as that's what we've found every time we've placed an add. The cost of joining compared to what our cattery fee's or daily visits from pet sitters would be is negligible, and our pets have been treated as individuals with individual needs in and all in their own home, which we also value.

As first time rather nervous users of the site we have had a wonderful first experience. The cats are happy and relaxed and our house has been kept immaculately. What a find as its a great thought that our home will not be left empty and our cats in a cattery when we next travel for nearly four weeks!
The site seems fairly easy to use though it cuts down the size of the photos which is frustrating!
We will certainly be recommending you to family and friends with cosseted pets!
We were amazed as to how quickly we got some responses to our site. Quickly got our sitters booked with no last minute worries about finding someone.

I had a good experience and this was the first time I tried this website to get a house sitter to look after my cat. She was very friendly and a very good person.

However, I received only two applications inspite of putting up a requirement for 15 days. I was lucky to find a sitter but I can't help but wonder that this would have been a bad investment if she wasn't available at the time.

Also, there seems to be no ID proof requirement by the website for both House owners and sitters. This is something that should be worked upon for safety reasons

A neighbor recommended TrustedHousesitters to us, so with a 7 month old pup we felt it was the best way for us to go due to our desire not to have our puppy in a kennel for such a long time. Our experience far outweighed our expectations. We had many great choices for sitters as we had many people respond, but were so blessed by the couple that watched our home and pup. It is clear that TrustedHousesitters attracts very competent and quality people as sitters, something that makes me feel quite secure as a homeowner. They were great people who cared for our dog and our home as if it was their own and we truly feel like they are a part of our family now. I would highly recommend TrustedHousesitters to anyone!. The four star rating is because the website is pretty clunky... hard to make your way through it... but all in all that was pretty minor.

I signed up to be a house sitter thinking that the high price of membership must mean it would be worth the cost. IT WAS NOT! This is a fraudulent and ineffective site with the worst customer service I have ever experienced. If I at least got 3 or 4 days out of it I would have been breaking even compared to the cost of a hostel so I decided to give it a shot. I lived in Sydney for six months and traveled for another five months and in that time I never once found an available house sit where I was going despite my consistent searching. When I did find house sits that matched my availability, they were always impacted with 15+ applicants or I did not meet the pet owners' discriminatory requirements since I had a job and was under the age of 50. I honestly thought that because it had been so long into my membership and I had not successfully acquired a house or pet sit in that time that any good business would give me a refund. I have worked in customer service myself for a VERY long time and I have the good sense to know that when someone is not just unsatisfied but ANGRY with their experience, you do what you need to in order to make it right. It took them at least a week to even respond to me and when they did they had no satisfactory solutions and basically told ME to be more flexible in order to procure one of their "many house sits all over the world". BULLCRAP! If someone with a perfectly legitimate profile who travels for nearly a year to 7 different countries cannot obtain a single house sit, there is something wrong with the service not the person. I demanded a refund (even a partial refund would have been enough for me) but because I had used their website to search and apply to house sits I was already "benefitting from my membership". THAT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! When customers leave a restaurant without ordering you don't charge them just for looking at the menu by telling them they've already benefitted from your service. That is no way to do business and you all should be ASHAMED of yourselves for this marketing scam. I would NEVER recommend this site to any of my friends young or old, wealthy or poor because of the unjust way they do business and lack of tact when handling customer complaints.

It was a while before I 'took the plunge' to invite strangers into my home whilst I was away. But, having read so many delightful profiles and great reviews I decided to join up. Since that I've been away 3 times, different sitters and have another one coming up. Both myself and my 3 cats have been delighted at the lovely, caring people we've met, I think that's the general nature of the people who join Trusted Housitters. Together with this they have all been respectful of the house as well as the animals. Truly the best decision I ever made for my beloved cats and myself. I have to worry no longer about them when I go away. Which makes holidays even more enjoyable.

I've had cats all of my adult life (25+ years). I've tried every option when I am away from home: taking them to a boarding cattery, having friends stay over, having family stay over, paying cat sitters who come to the house for an hour or so per day, paying for 'professional' overnight housesitters. TrustedHouseSitters is by far the best of all the various methods. I can't easily afford 'professional' sitters and I found that they tend to have a list of dos/don't as long as your arm. It always irked me that I was paying them, but, they were the ones calling the shots. Friends and family unfortunately just cannot be relied upon. I've had them cancel on me when I am literally about to go to the airport to leave. And don't get me started on boarding kennels. Due to 2 horrific experiences, I will never use another one of them again. I was nervous using trustedhousesitters for the first time, but, I found the process relatively easy. I see it as an exchange of equals, rather than a customer-provider relationship. I'm much more comfortable with this exchange being equal. So, that's a plus in my books. Whenever I post new dates on the website, I tend to get a lot of enquiries from a very wide range of people. The reviews are always a good way to find exceptional people. The different levels of verification are an excellent way to get the people you will be comfortable with. The website can be a bit clunky to navigate around, but, nothing too major. All in all, i think this is a great company. I've now had 4 vacations where I used the company to arrange a sitter. All of the experiences have been very positive.

I went to trustedhousesitter on the advice of previous house sitters who were not available for me this year. While signing on and setting up my ad was no issue their instructions kept referencing the sitter guide and I could not find anything on the site that directed me to such a guide. Eventually all became clear because when I completed my ad, a cue to complete the sitter guide appeared, but it would have been nice if the process could have been explained up front so that I knew what to expect. It would have saved me a lot of frustration. Other than that one small issue, my experience with posting an ad, selecting a sitter and preparing material for the sitter was all good. Finding such trustworthy sitters was wonderful and allowed me to enjoy my holiday without worrying. I recommend trusted house sitter to anyone who needs to find a pet person to care for your home and animals.

We are a recently retired Canadian couple who joined Trusted last year as a means to spending winters in the south without having to spend our children's inheritance on hotels. We signed up as both homeowners and house-sitters, and we could not be happier. We loved both of our housesitting experiences (one a hobby ranch with 40+ animals and the other a beautiful home with talking parrots), and we were perfectly happy with the couple that cared for our house and dog. Trusted's vetting procedures gave us confidence, and indeed there were no surprises. The sheer number and variety of opportunities that come directly to my inbox every day means that we could be doing this year round... We highly recommend this service.
