Although I have had quite a few very pleasant house sits, I do feel that the travelling expenses should be paid especially as petrol is now so expensive. In some cases an awful lot is expected of you while house sitting.
I will not be renewing my subscription in October.
Jim and Diane looked after our house and Dog, cat, Chicken and fish for 3 months in southern Spain. They where fantastic, nothing was a problem and very trust worthy. They now have become good friends and look after our beloved pets when ever we need them. I would recommend them to anyone. Michelle.

Taking care of 12 animals may seem overwhelming, but not with this home. The 4 dogs are large but very easy and loving. The 2 cats are super affectionate. 5 Hens are mostly on auto pilot and the 1 tropical no issues. I'd sit again in a heart beat.

When I house/pet sit I am often looking for a quiet experience so that I can work on a writing project, but each time i have ended up extending my visit in the area so that i could spend a bit of time, or share a meal, with the owners themselves after the experience. It really is a great way to get to know other people. There is an inherent vulnerability in entrusting someone with your house and with your animal companions. That vulnerability creates a situation where real human connections can occur. The overlap of sitter and owner is usually quite brief, but much more meaningful than your average introduction. They are entrusting you with a part of their family, so they really want to try to understand who you are. The whole thing is very unique and cool. It's a great way to recreate faith in our fellow humans in the midst of a culture that is increasingly cynical and disconnected. Great service all around!
My experience of using Trusted Home Sitters to find house sitting assignments has only been positive. I have had 5 successful house sits. I would recommend them to anyone looking for house sitting assignments or house sitters for their pets.
I had my doubts after reading some comments online about no responses and my experience started out that way, but quickly changed. My first sit was first rate and I have more lined upnfor the Summer. When I had questions, they called and emailed both. Theu had suggestions. New opportunities come up constantly in fabulous places. The people are friendly, enthusiastic and very clear with instructions for their pers and houses. TH follows up. It has been a great experience for me and fun to care for cute furry friends so their parents can get away. This is a great service!
I just completed my first pet sit and it was a wonderful experience. My pet parents were more than considerate and the stay was comfortable. During my 3 day stay I was able to to explore the city and meet the friendly neighbours. Looking forward to a longer pet sit next week.
