I was trying to contact Booking.com through their customer service number as I needed to make a special request for our stay in Savannah, GA in June.
I called their customer service phone number,, *******958, on Friday, April 28th at 4:45 pm, MDT. I waited on the line for 6 minutes 8 seconds. I called back the same evening at 7:58 pm MDT, and waited 12 minutes 18 seconds. I called again the same evening at 9:43 pm, and waited 15 minutes, 6 seconds. I called again on Saturday, April 29th at 7:40 am, MDT, and waited 20 minutes and 52 seconds but still was not able to get through.
At this point, I have decided I won't be using Booking, com anymore and I also won't be using Trivago.com to book any future trips.
I saw their add on TV claiming they will find the cheapest option. I searched for a particular destination and the prices offered were THE HIGHEST among all other sources I checked. Absolute scam, sham and just a way for them to get money by presenting you with lackluster terms.
We booked a hotel in Liverpool through Trivago so we could go to my brother's funeral. At 9AM (one hour before the funeral) we went to leave our bags at the hotel and were told that they had had 40 bookings through Trivago, all of which were rejected. None of the Trivago customers were informed and they all turned up thinking they had a room and were all stranded in Liverpool. Luckily the hotel had had a cancellation and were able to give us a room. Trivago didn't contact any of the customers to inform us.
If you can't rely on them to make the booking or to inform you if it goes wrong then what use are they?
We came in today to Sedona, Az after booking with Trivago who sold us out to a third party Elvoline who changed our booking date without authorization! We got in and was for the wrong date which they admitted THEY CHANGED. Elvoline refused to work with us by changing the date back to our date or refund. Elvoline wouldn't even give us the # to Trivago! Had to make a dispute with my bank. After 45 min Elvoline admitted they lied and weren't third party to Trivago at all but had our info and would not give us the name of the third party. They said they were from Hungary and had no supervisor. All in all was a nightmare! Do yourself a favor and never use Trivago because they will sell you out to second and third party not in the USA and change change your booking dates!
I am a bargain shopper and make nearly all of my purchases, small and large, online. You see the TV commercials at least a half dozen times a day on how great it is. Because of this brainwashing, I always go to Trivago at least once for travel rates. Funny thing is I've made exactly zero purchases through the site. With a little more investigation I'm ALWAYS able to find a better deal elsewhere. I don't know why I repeatedly waste my time shopping this site.
I made a reservation through trivago that give me one from elvoline site but no confirmation message was sent to me
I love trivago it's very good and easy to use. The filters are very good. You can choose diff destinations and it remembers what you added as a filter such as breakfast pool etc
I also wanted to share my experiences as a lot of reviews here are negative, and I am really confused by that.
I used Trivago at least 10-20 times during the last couple years and this is the perfect hotel comparison site.
I agree that sometimes not everything goes right with the booking but the mistake is on the side of the hotel or booking agency.
Conlusion: If you are looking for an easy to use hotel comparison site: Don't go anywhere else.
Recently spent 2 nights half board at Cases Noves Guadalest. The food was outstanding. The quality of the services given by Toni & Sofi, was like none we have every received anywhere in the WORLD! The rooms had everything one could need, with stunning views of the beautiful mountains and the little village. An ideal place where one should come to recharge their batteries. We would most certainly visit them again, sooner rather then latter.

Apartment was great, clean and spacious but staff was very bad, not friendly. Security guard very very very rude and lazy... we found parking till back side hotel and the security just sit inside and play with his hand-phone. Eligible us as our guest in anger and he said (Lancau with us) with obscenities by security guard Bangladesh. We are very dis pointed with the hotel service and we will not stay there again with a terrible service.
Beautiful resort well worth the money where you feel special. Nice restful environment, beautiful beach and beautiful food.
Stayed in Sligo park. From start to finish it was superb... lovely staff, food, and kids were treated so well. Will def stay again.
I travel a lot and I have come to terms that Travago is the greatest. They have prices on hotels and flights that has really made it feel like Christmas all year around :) Try booking through Travago... You can thank me later lol
I used Trivago last night for the first time. What a nightmare. First they sent me to a list of different sites who supposedly had rooms, most of whom I couldnt get the room to confirm with, and when I finally got a room reserved, it was because I CALLED the Travelocity number they showed and booked it! The challenge? The hotel Trivago said had a pool doesn't - or TECHNICALLY does, but it is out of commission due to the hotel being sold, so - my five year old daughter's day at the pool got jacked. I am on the phone with Travelocity right now seeing what I can do. I downloaded the Trivago app last night and I will be deleting it today. Keep pumping ad $ into the TV ads while you work out the kinks, Trivago. For me Trivago is spelled TURKEY.
Trivago might be the most inconvient and unhelpful service I have ever delt with. There is no number to call and it takes days to hear back from an email. The costumer service needs SERIOUS help. Me nor my family or friends will ever use this booking site every again. I have told everyone possible to never give using trivago a second change. That is a shame, however, considering the website is well organized and to the point, but how are you going to be a world wide business with no costumer service? NEVER again trivago. Hours on the phone calling people and searching the web trying to find a number and NOTHING. Then I get an email back days later saying there's no way to help. Because of trivago, I've lost $200.
I booked a hotel in Atlanta through Trivago, using Otel.com.
When I called to check on my reservation, they didn't have it. I contacted Trivago and Otel.com and Trivago basically told me it wasn't their problem. Otel.com is a foreign company, and has very poor support services.
I will dispute the charge on my card, and will NEVER use Trivago again. Instead of buying ad time, they should spend money on better customer support, and to better qualify which companies they associate with.
The worst hotel search site. We had a bitter experience recently in Hyderabad. Fooled to reach one of the worst places by following trivago. Stayed in sree simran palace which trivago says all the facilities. To our surprise it did not even have room service. My sincere request to trivago is please stop fooling people around.
I ran into trouble with a room I booked, and Trivago refuses to help me. They keep telling me its an Expedia issue. Expedia has no record of me booking anything.
The worst. I will never use them again. I was charged for my hotel and the hotel has NO record of my reservation. Trivago is the middle-man and the actual reservation was made through Cancelon. I called cancelon to ask why the hotel has no record of my reservation. They keep telling me that they need 24 more hours to get a response. Now the hotel where I was going to stay is fully booked. Cancelon says that my only option is to cancel my reservation. Too bad that I could have used a reputable company and actually gotten my room. I am now out the cost of the conference I paid for too.
Trivago what a nightmare!. I just went to trivago to make a hotel Reservation in Charleston SC (I live in VA). I went to the website, found a hotel, booked it. Unfortunately I had to put my credit card information. I got a confirmation #, as I was reading the confirmation document, I notes it was booked for only one person. I called the hotel to ad my husband (two people instead of one) They couldn't find me with the confirmation # I had, and they couldn't find me with my name. In other words $514.00 was taken out of my account and I have no hotel reservation (be careful if you are send to Otel.com) As all this was going on... I got a text message from the card fraud alert department. Apparently they took my money out of my account from Istanbul. They offer the room for $135 a night. The hotel says that their cheaper room is $299 a night. Be careful people. In the mean time, they took $514.00, I have no hotel reservation, my card had to be canceled, and I am pissed of. No one to complain in triage. I want my money back.
Answer: The bottom line is good luck with that. Nobody cares and they may email you back but nothing will happen and i guarantee if you gave someone money for a service it is gone forever. There are so many rip off sites related to Trivago it is unreal.
Answer: Dear Michelle, Thank you for your message and I would be happy to help. Depending on the booking site you choose to make your reservation with (ex. Expedia, booking.com, Agoda etc.) you may be required to prepay for the booking in full, an authorization (hold) on your credit card may be placed, or you may have to simply pay upon check out at the hotel. I would suggest reading the policy of the particular booking site you use, to see how their payment process works. As trivago is a hotel meta-search, meaning users can search and compare different hotels and prices on our site, we pull information from multiple OTAs (online travel agencies such as Expedia or Booking.com) and display the prices together. However, once a user clicks through to book a room, they are directed to the appropriate booking site which provides that price to complete reservation and payment details. Trivago doesn't actually have any involvement in the making of the booking. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Kind regards, James Morrison Trivago user support.
