I ordered 3 female yearling Japanese Pond Turtles on a Monday and my credit card was promptly charged. I was expecting a fed ex or ups tracking number on Tuesday and delivery on Wednesday. I called and emailed about the order status. It turns out that Next Generation Enterprises LLC (with an out-of-service phone number) runs Tortoise Town.com and turtlestore.com (same contact phone numbers and identical website language.) After an internet search the contact addresses for TortoiseTown.com and TurtleStore.com and are not correct. I thought this was a fake website and that I was scammed.
However, I received an email on Wednesday evening that they needed to wait 2 weeks to ensure that I receive healthy turtles. I ordered yearlings and not hatchlings. Two weeks is insignificant for year old turtles. It sounded as if they were going to send hatchlings. They gladly offered to charge me 20% and cancel the order (which I did.) The error was on their part for not updating their website. Out of stock turtles are listed as "out of stock" and you cannot even add them to the cart. There was no message regarding a delay in shipping. So I am out over a hundred dollars. I ordered turtles they don't have under false pretenses and they charged me a "20% restocking fee" to cancel the order.
I placed the order Sunday, was supposed to get it Tuesday, it's Wednesday and there's still no tortoise.
Where's my tortoise at? The shipping number you messaged me doesn't even lead to anything
I purchased a turtle in this website in almost 100 bucks in total last week. On Tuesday as the website promised to be delivered, the website will give you a fake tracking number. My shop app and ups website cannot not track the number they gave me because it is an auto generated fake number. The contact info of them are real but no one will answer you! I have tried left messages by calls, and send emails but never is there a single word from them. Now I suspect that all good reviews are generated by inners who might receive benefits. I ask any animal/turtle/tortoise lovers do not trust this website as they will keep going for more money. I will share my experience with other all over my social media to condemn this immortal and deceptive website.
I purchased a yellow belly slider turtle from them. Never received shipping/tracking info. Just my receipt was emailed. On the site the only option for shipping is over night, which I paid 39.95 for one turtle. My turtle never showed up the next day/days. None of my phone calls, emails, messages through facebook were replied. They are extremely had to get into contact with! In a sense I hope this is all just a scam, because the thought of a turtle dying in a box is just ugh. Just save your time and money!
My first experience with tortoise town I purchased a box turtle that I was unaware I was not allowed to have shipped to my state, did anyone email me or call to let me know I could not purchase the turtle no. It took 3 days of calling and emails to find out I had to purchase another turtle. My second experience with tortoise town I ordered a turtle I know I'm allowed to have shipped to my state. Turtle never ships for three days I called to get no answer and not be able to leave a message, as well as emails no response. Not until I demanded a refund and threatened to report them to the BBB of New Jersey did I get a response from them with a refund and no explanation. I would never order another animal from them again. I would recommend not dealing with this company if you want to deal with professionals.
Ordered two turtles over a week ago and have not heard a thing other than still processing. Trying to cancel order and got no reply back. Not happy
I placed an order going on two weeks now, I got a notification saying my order was shipped, however the site says they do overnight shipping, it's now been three days and I haven't even gotten a notification that they have been received by ups. I have not gotten any contact from the owners as they will not return my emails or calls.
I bought two baby red eared slider turtles from tortoise town and one of them was obviously sick when it showed up. After like 6 days of trying to nurse the sick turtle back to health I reached out to tortoise town and told them the situation but they showed no interest in helping. I kept emailing them about the condition of the turtle as I kept trying to get him healthy. All they did was keep asking me about the turtles food, tank setup, and lights. I explained and sent pictures of the turtles, the setup, food, and treatments that the turtles had and they couldn't find anything wrong. I told them that the sick turtle just sits underneath the heat lamp or on top of the heater and has barely moved or swam since we got it while the other one was super active and healthy. They said that they couldn't do anything and dont give refunds unless the turtle dies within 7 days of arrival. I ended up taking the turtle to a veterinarian hospital to get treatment for the turtle and they gave us antibiotics. We gave the turtle antibiotics for like 8 days but didn't show improvement and then it died. We are upset about our pet dying and hope this review helps other people from having to deal with this terrible company.
My sons bday was Jan 15 I wanted to surprise him with a turtle & I think he( the turtle) was already stressed - it swam it would go the light and sit for hrs but he wouldn't really eat! I've tried everything well long story short I went to do a check in on the title and he is in his log dead He barely swam my tank and all the supplies was right and now this we got him1. 3. 21 and he died 2. 4. 21
We ordered a turtle and received a tortoise. We ordered a hatchling and received an older adult. We paid >$400 and expected a healthy tortoise, instead we received one with pyramiding, worms, and evidence of improper feeding and humidity. We paid for many items that we never received. If you read independent reviews (not the ones *they* publish) you'll see many many heartbreaking stories of people receiving the wrong pet, and sick tortoises that die. Look on Tortoise Forum, this site, don't look at their site and Facebook page where they control the reviews.
When we contacted them about how they sent the wrong pet they said, "no problem, the care is the same." UM- the care for a box turtle and tortoise is the same? Not at all, they clearly know nothing and don't care.
When we brought our pet to the vet for a check up she said he was basically a rescue, and luckily that we got him because he would have died in the care he was getting. He had a respiratory infection, 4" long worms... $500+ in vet bills later he might never recover and my poor kids are traumatized to see the pet they love still sick.
Please do your research and find a reputable breeder or rescue a turtle or tortoise in need of a good home.
I had a great experience with Tortoise Town. I ordered a red eared slider and it came to us well packaged. I had no problems at all. They were very responsive and they seem to really care about the reptiles. I highly recommend using them. They seem to have a good selection.
I was ripped off too, i ordered a MALE Eastern Hermann and eight months later a tortoise expertise looked at my tortoise's pictures and stated it was 100% female. Additionally, I was charged $10.00 for sex preference and never received my tortoise calcium vitamins. When I called them, they said they would give me a fifty dollars credit for the next order.
Also, their web site states the tortoises are sold under or over 4 inches only for educational purposes. What a lie, they know damn well we purchased it as a pets.
The bottom line is that I never agreed or signed for those terms. In addition, they do not guarantee the sex selection of the tortoise, however they charge extra money for sex selections.

On 9/1 I received my baby tortoise from tortoise town which was a replacement for my one the week before that came in deceased, I e-mailed tortoise town that day they responded back within an hour, I sent pictures of Henry, Ray called me the Next day and setup a replacement for the following week according to the weather to ensure of a cooler temp for delivery, staff excellent, helpful, quick response
I purchased two tortoise plus food and UVB light from them, three days ago I received the baby tortoise but no food and UVB light, right away, I called, left a message, and Email. But no one call back. No one response the Email. Now my baby tortoise is suffering from cold and hunger. Please do not purchase anything from this seller!
I purchased a Egyptian tortoise from them and im still waiting for a response from them I have not received a tracking # or a call back from them
Spent ~300 dollars, purchased a tortoise which arrived unhealthy and wouldn't eat. After 3 weeks of several emails, finally received a response from tortoise town with a sad face. Since it was past the one week guarantee, they would not replace. The baby tortoise they sent me lived for about two weeks. Also, the hatchling they sent me was literally a few days old.
Purchase from a reputable breeder who will back their animals. These guys don't respond back to your inquiries, send newborn animals, and won't back them.
I ordered a turtle from them; 30$ dollars plus the 40$ to ship. The turtle comes in when it's supposed to. I'm super happy. I open the box and the turtle is dead. I contact Tortoisetown and they are really apologetic and request pictures. I comply. They offer to send a replacement but I'll have to pay the 40$ shipping again. I explain that it was dead when I got it and that I'd paid 70$ for a dead turtle. Nope. It doesn't matter. I'll have to pay an additional 40$ to replace the dead one they sent. After multiple emails, they offer to take 10% off. So I was left with the option of paying 40$ and just hoping the next one was alive (or I'd have to pay 40$ per turtle until one ends up alive) or just go to a different breeder. I took the second option. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone
I ordered a turtle and some supplies from this business on approximately May 26th. June 9th, I reached out to this company by phone, email and Facebook messenger. No reply. I continued to try to reach them and they would not reply. Assuming I had been scammed, I posted a review warning customers of their actions. Within hours of posting the review, I got a phone call from them. They told me that if I take down my review, they would send me the turtle and also refund my money. I deleted my review. Since it has been a bit since I've heard anything from them, I tried to Facebook message them today and they have blocked me on messenger. I also got a text saying my order has been cancelled. I have filed a dispute with my credit card and I am warning everyone out there. DO NOT make the same mistake I made! They will promise you whatever you want to hear but they do not hold up on their end. I am still yet to see a refund and still no turtle. I wonder if I'll get a phone call after this review? Lol A very crappy company! Check google. You'll find more than just this one bad review! I wish I would have.
1 male common hatchling snapper DOA. The female extremely lethargic or deathly ill. They are EXTREMELY hard to reach by phone, email, social media or anything else. I either get dial tones, mailbox is full, dead lines or emptiness. Did NOT send me tracking number until 2hrs prior to arrival, and even then it wasn't them. But UPS who sent me it. They also did not tell me how or when my other products that i ordered would be shipped. Not to mention how they only labeled the LIDS as the sex of the turtle. So if you or they get the kids mixed up? Tough $#*!.
I will sue them for a refund if i have to. Bastards
I received a hatchling that was in poor health, I used the company's portal on their website to message them, and then proceeded to call 10-12 times over the course of 2 days. During the week. My goal was to just find some support on what to do to help this hatchling out. I was lucky enough to receive help from a Facebook. I then sent an email directly to their support email address telling them that I had been attempting to contact them and was disappointed with their service. I Finally got an email back, and heard nothing back but excuses, using the pandemic as an excuse, which I get to a degree, but they never once took any personal responsibility. If the pandemic is causing this company to not provide adequate support for their customers, they should not continue to ship live animals until they have their problems resolved. They responded to my google review, after we had communicated saying that they answer all calls that come through, which is bogus, because one of the common denominators of all of their negative reviews, and some of the positive, are that they never answer their phone. They still have not sent all of the items in my order, and have not provided any more information about it. In my opinion their riding the wave of increased orders because people are home because of the pandemic, regardless of how their customers are supported. There are plenty of reputable people out there, that care for their animals, and their customers. This is not one of them.
Answer: Very difficult, Tortoise Town seldom does not answer the phones or emails
Answer: I choose Tortoisetown, because of their video relating to the care of the turtles. Also, when I called they answered the phone and had great customer service.
