First off, first time turtle/tortoise purchase for my son's golden birthday. I ordered a Sulcata baby hatchling on their site it said the tortoise would be 6 weeks and 2.25 inches. I got a 3.5 month old Sulcata Tortoise 4.5 inches. But, I emailed them before receiving tortoise to check status and they reaffirmed the 6 week age. I just think it's very unprofessional to do this at who's expense? Then I message them with pictures only to be told hatchling and well off are between 6wks and 3.5 months. The other 3.5 - 6months buyer beware. Bad business practice. Maybe post real time stock and notify people if that option isn't. We got a great personality tortoise but, the debating like I'm asking for something extra? No. I'm disappointed for my son he missed that experience of growth. And on their site only reviews from 2018! I can see why maybe better business bureau should explain to them when someone is willing to spend over $1,000 in a year don't do this type of business.
I ordered my Nosy Faly from these guys and received great customer service! They kept in contact with me with quick replies about my ordered and any questions I had. I can't speak for anyone else, but as for me I am very pleased with their company and service! Great Job Tortoise Town! Thanks again! Quest Gilbreath.
I ordered a male Ambanja Panther Chameleon, he was delivered and was packaged well and warm. He went straight into his terrarium and ate and drank and has been doing well. The delivered what was guaranteed.
We ordered our turtles July of 2021. They arrived healthy in their own little boxes. They were packed very securely. Now, in January 2022, they are still doing great! I had good costumer service and rate my experience an A+.
I had ordered a cherry head red foot tortoise and he was very sick when we received him. He didn't act at all normal like our other tortoises. His eyes were swelled shut. We tried everything we could to keep him alive but he died. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY THEY ARE A SCAM! No one has gotten back to me about when I wrote to them when we first got him.
These people will take your money and send fake tracking information. They are responsive to texts to give the illusion of being legitimate. They never shipped the animal and did nothing to rectify the situation. You will lose your money if you shop with this joke of a website.
I had to purchase a new Spanish softball turtle that died Is not even having it a week. I was able to get in contact with is tortoise town an explained to them what happened. They were real easy to talk to and professional. But they was able to get another turtle turtle out to me within A-day in All I had to pay for was the shipping which was reasonable is the reasonable. In this animal's doing 10 times better better. I have done business with them in the past I still have nothing bad to say about them. Great service. And healthy pets
Tortoise Town did exactly what I wanted and did what they said they would - deliver healthy wonderful turtles. I ordered three albino red ear slider turtles which arrived all bundled up about a month or so ago. I was so happy with them that I ordered a fourth they also came bundled up well. They are thriving healthy turtles that are fun to watch and to care for. I could not be happier with them or the service I got from Tortoise Town.
I ordered a well started east Herman's tortoise October 7. I received an email on the Monday 11th telling me my tort would ship overnight and arrive by 10.30am on the 12th. Sure enough just as they said I received my tort safe and well before 10.30. He is healthy and started eating well second day after he arrived. I personally will not hesitate to recommend from tortoise town.
I wish i did better research before buying a tortoise from Tortoise Town. We ordered a 1 year old Greek Tortoise from these people. The tortoise did not show up days after it was supposed to, when we finally got hold of them they were incredibly rude and basically told us to suck it up. ZERO customer service. The tortoise became very ill shortly after receiving it and after taking it to the vet, we were informed that the tortoise was at least 5 years old, NOT a Greek tortoise and was more than likely taken from the wild. The tortoise died 2 days later. Any attempts to contact Tortoise Town were unsuccessful. Do not buy from these people as they clearly do not care about their animals!
I bought a musk turtle, they sent me other kind of turtle with imperfections. They are careless of fixing an issue like this. So if you get something that you didn't order your will be stuck with something you don't want. I had to send multiple emails to get an answer, at the end they only offer 10% for next purchase. Ridiculous for something you didn't order. They only care about making money and not fixing their problems. Save yourself a headache and don't buy from them! Not worth it!
I do not recommend buying animals from this company. My partner and I have had a negative experience from the day of purchase.
When ordering, my partner put the incorrect sex. We contacted Tortoise Town (with great difficulty, as the customer service is practically nonexistent) for a sex change. We did receive a response that the sex would be changed before shipping, and my partner was charged for the sex change.
Next, the chameleon didn't arrive on time. No big deal, but a TINY amount of customer communication could have went a long way for this issue. When the chameleon finally (and randomly!) arrived, she was not the he that we had just paid extra money for. We tried contacting the company once more, and have not received an e-mail within a month.
We assumed the issues were done once we received the chameleon, but they were not. This company sends a hatchling, which ideally would be kept a few days to ensure the animal will eat (and therefore, survive) and to prevent additional stress. That is not what happened, as we assume the chameleon was hatched and immediately put into a box and shipped (reminder, we did not get the luxury of knowing she was being shipped and a live animal would be on our doorstep). Luckily, we got the few day old reptile inside. Low and behold, now she refuses to eat and barely drinks.
THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY.
After posting a review, I was blocked from their Facebook instead of providing any customer service. DO NOT BUY!
If I can give 0 stars I would. I had ordered a Male Southern Painted Turtle and I never recieved it. I called customer support with no response, So I email the support team a man named Christopher responds a day later and dismisses me at any point not taking accountability for providing the provider. I understand packages get lost but I am not responsible for that in any way what so ever. Ultimately I am very displeased with the whole company and their lack of accountability.
I purchased from them online. I specifically noted in the NOTE section that I don't want the tortoises to be shipped until a week later. I had a problem with the enclosure where I wanted to place the tortoises, so I called them the next day on Monday morning as soon as they opened ( I placed the order on Sunday) to have the order canceled, no one answered ( left a voicemail) so I emailed them and requested the order to get canceled.
On Monday in the afternoon, I got an email from them saying they have to charge me 20% restocking fees. I was shocked and I asked them why would you charge restocking fees and they replied saying they already packaged them for shipping and I told them I requested the shipping to be after a week and they replied saying they overlooked the note and its in their terms and conditions that they charge restocking fees.
I argued with them for an hour through emails because they don't want to talk on the phone knowing that I will shut them up.
In the end, I had to accept to give them the 20% fee to get the rest of my money.
They are liars, thieves, crooks, scammers and they need to be taught a lesson.
I know someone one day is going to teach a very hard lesson.
I wish you rot in hell
We tried to get a creasted gecko from them. It didn't say it was out of stock. They took my money right away. Then once a few days went by I emailed them to ask about our gecko. Was told they need to watch her for 7-10 days to make sure she was good to go. Still did not here back from them, so I emailed again asking 7-10 days from the day I ordered or when they got her. They claimed when I ordered. Few days still nothing. My husband called to ask about it. No one answered. We waited 2 days it says 24 hours they will call back. We emailed and asked them again and nothing. So we said fine we want to cancel. They emailed right back said okay but they need to take a 20% fee. We told them we didn't think that was right because I don't believe they had our gecko at all and they never responded to us after we called and emailed. Please do not ordered from them.
So I ordered some turtles and they all came dead so I emailed tortoise town and after a couple weeks of unhelpful emails I was told no refunds and I had to pay shipping for my replacements which is a scam, but I paid the 40$ shipping again and then they completely stopped emailing me back and 2 weeks later after paying the 2nd shipping fee I haven't heard anything or gotten any replacements so basically I got scammed twice from one purchase. And only dead turtles buried in the yard about 300$ later. It is illegal to sell turtles under 4 inch's in any state. If they fix this I will remove this review.
I've heard of people ordering tortoises and getting very sick and unhealthy tortoises or turtles, the wrong turtles, or nothing at all. I ordered a crested gecko so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with having a good order, but shes arrived in seemingly pretty great health so far. The very big problem for me is the fact that it took a month or so for them to even ship it to me. I got a notice out of no where that my order had been completed and they were shipping it, so I checked my orders and I got a tracking number and it arrived the day after. If you get anything from here make sure not to forget about it or else you might have an animal in a box that you didn't even know was supposed to be arriving. Overall it was an ok experience, didn't think they would actually send my animal though.
Ordered my Hermann's tortoise last week and recieved her within a few days. She's active and healthy. Unsure of why there are so many bad reviews, we had a great experience. Do your research and read their website. They clearly state they can't guarantee gender and if there's an issue you have to pay shipping. Not sure why that's so surprising for some folks.
I paid $224 including shipping for an Ornate Wood Turtle. They never gave me a tracking number and when I showed up to pick it up at the UPS hub today UPS said they didn't recieve a turtle and couldn't find anything without a tracking number. No one live answers the phone at Tortoise Town and they don't return calls. They don't respond to emails either.
I ordered 2 YB sliders and they sent me 2 southern cooters. I reached out to them about it and after taking a while to respond they finally did and stated that they could do a "partial" refund or I could ship the wrong ones back. They apologized for their mix up. I told them I would be glad to send them back if they would pay the $40 shipping because it was not my mix up and I should not have to pay anymore money. If not then I should get a full refund because I specifically wanted yellow belly sliders. Their response to this was that "as previously stated we can offer you a partial refund". Needless to say I will never order anything from them again and I would not suggest doing business with them.
Answer: Very difficult, Tortoise Town seldom does not answer the phones or emails
Answer: I choose Tortoisetown, because of their video relating to the care of the turtles. Also, when I called they answered the phone and had great customer service.
