Gerry was great with Resume and Cover Letter. BUT I purchased additional resume posting services and not a word. Please refund me for those 2 additional phases.
I was initially excited to work with Top Resume to revamp my current resume and LinkedIn profile - however in practice it was a thoroughly disappointing and frustrating experience. I spent an excessive amount of time correcting typos, grammar errors and weird/odd sentence structures that just didn't make sense, while trying to help their writer(s) write the documents such that they didn't sound like they were written by someone that has zero understanding of my field and areas of expertise...before Top Resume's 7 day "time limit" ran out. I would have saved a LOT of time by doing it myself because I now have a set of abysmally written documents compared to the ones I started with. I have no intention of actually using these documents as they would, in fact, be detrimental to my future job searches and career. This service is probably acceptable for an entry-level employee at the start of their career looking to fluff up their resume with a few random buzzwords so they can make it through an initial resume-screening process. Unfortunately, it is extremely poor for anyone currently in, or looking for, a seasoned executive-level leadership role. Save yourself the frustration, time and money and do it yourself, or pay more for a more professional and experienced service. Your career is much too important.
If I could give it no stars I would. Despite being given ample information to produce a resume, Top Resume essentially required that I do all the work. After having done nothing substantive itself and after only two days of initial back and forth, Top Resume refused a refund.
Customer service and turn around speed was amazing. Quick and professional
My engagement with TopResume has not only given me a competitive resume but also an experience to highlight my achievement when drafting my CV.
Jodi is an incredible interview coach, her work was beyond my expectations, Edward did a great job with my LinkedIn profile, and he was open to feedback, AJ did an awesome job with my resume and cover letter! Best invested money I have ever done!
Horrible customer service and waste of valuable money and time. When i submitted a complaint the customer service trying to sell me more products because i am not satisficed with the Executive Resume Writing Package!
I am 46 and have been 8 years on mat-leave. Trying to reenter the workforce, with a resume that was 4 pages long, post-pandemic and now things going fully online was just a recipe for high anxiety, sleepless nights and unsuccessful job boards response. When I came across TopResume, there was a job fair coming up that I was interested in attending in 4 days' time. I was assigned Shawn K., and within 48 hours he turned around my resume. Not only did I ace my interview at the job fair, but when I uploaded it to the potential employers' job board, I got multiple responses for follow-up interviews. Less than a month later, I have the offer letter signed and will start training in one week. TopResume is the real deal.
This was my second time using TopResume. I had a great experience the first time so expected the same when I went back to them to update my resume after a few years and a couple of new roles. Unfortunately, the the writer that was assigned to my project was extremely slow and unresponsive with the first draft of my documents not being delivered until a week after the entire project should have been completed. Additionally, the substance of what the writer prepared was simply unusable. Parts of my resume were changed, apparently for the sake of making changes, to include statements that factually untrue. There were syntax issues throughout both my resume and cover letter.
When I reached out to customer service to ask for a refund, they offered to assign me to a more senior writer and add on the LinkedIn service free of charge, which I accepted. Customer service then proceeded to completely drop the ball in handing my project off to a new writer. At that time, I informed customer service that I had travel planned the following week and that I would need to provide the new writer with any feedback in the next 3 business days. As a condition to agreeing to work with a new writer, customer service confirmed that first drafts would be able to be prepared and ready for my review when I returned from my trip (about 8 days from the time of confirmation). I first heard from my new writer, Jeremy, on the day I returned from my trip and it was clear from his initial message to me that customer service had failed to adequately convey the timeline that customer service had agreed to.
Jermey, however, was excellent! I gave him a brief history of what had happened in the month leading up to his being assigned my project and he immediately moved my project to the top of his list, providing drafts the next business day. His work product was great, he was efficient and extremely responsive throughout the next week as we worked towards finalizing a new resume, cover letter, thank you letter and updating my LinkedIn profile. I could not be happier with the final product! If only I had been able to work with Jeremy from the outset...
Bottom line - if you're lucky enough to get assigned a quality writer, you'll probably have a great experience.
I send my updated resume and received a totally rewritten resume back. It's written very well and really does highlight my strength more. I EAS asked for feedback and always got a prompt response of a new version. I would highly recommend it.
Very quick and easy experience. Layton was patient and amiable to my changes.
I was a little skeptical of how the process would work out after finding out that I would not be able to speak with my writer. But I filled out the survey and sent in my previous resume and added some other details I wanted to highlight. Voila! Before I knew it I had a much better resume and a great cover letter. Overall, I was satisfied with the process.
Very helpful with there assistance - Top Resume support was very helpful
I purchased both the resume and the cover letter package. I was very skeptical with paying for such a service because it has a lot of negative reviews.
My cover letter had grammatical errors and the person used the same sentences I already used. He used synonyms and did not accentuate my strengths in the way I expected them to do.
I am not satisfied with paying 127 dollars for a mediocre job that included typos, grammatical errors, and a poor design. I felt they could have done a better job but they didn't.
Save yourself the time and middle man and throw your money directly in the garbage! My writer spent less than 1 hour running it through some kind of automated resume writer before sending to me. I say it was an automated process because there were obvious errors/questions I received in my revision that had my writer even looked at my actual resume would have been able to answer. The formatting and typos that came with the revision were no joke! After sending over my revisions, my writer went dark and was unresponsive until the very last day. Additionally, the timelines as noted in my purchase email confirmation, what was communicated to me via my writer and what was displayed in the website UI were all different (the UI date was 2 days earlier than my completion date within my purchase email confirmation). My communications to Topresume "support" regarding same went unresponded to. I did receive a different resume from the one I submitted at the start so I can't say this is a scam, but would strongly advise anyone to look elsewhere. The money spent doesn't even come CLOSE to the low-grade Topresume deliverable you will receive back. I don't understand how they have these high ratings on their site - that might be the scam!
The more I review my resume the more upset I become, I wasted money on a resume and cover letter. I knew my writer didn't have experience with Federal resumes after my first draft. It was so obvious I asked if they had experience with federal resumes they assured me they did although the first draft proved they did not but could I do I had already spent the money. I've been very busy and felt I could hire someone else to write my resume and cover letter for me as I was not looking for a promoted but, a lateral position as my other resumes that I've written myself I've been able to move up the career ladder in the federal sector to a GS12. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement the résumé used bullet points, which is not used in federal resumes, it was cut down to two pages which is not normal for federal resumes there much longer, and it did not include the hours I worked a week. My writer continued to include things that did not relate to my position, although I sent a copy the USA job opening for my current position. Some of the corrections I made could have easily been found with a simple Google search or reviewing the current usa job announcement instead of made up information that did not relate to my position. Please save your money. Spend the time you would use correcting drafts on your own writing your on resume. This will not only save you money, but a headache and regret as we. Do not use a service at least for federal résumé I would not recommend it..
Got a resume review because it was free. The person who reviewed it was rude in their comments, stating my resume was boring among other truly condescending things. Honestly it's unprofessional. Resumes ARE bland as it is! They also had suggestions that all HR professionals and recruiters have explicitly advised me AGAINST. They don't know what they're talking about.
The reviewer has done a good job of highlighting the important points and reducing the length of my resume.
Answer: It depends, if you want to pay for a mediocre format riddled with errors that has the language equivalent of a high-schooler. You will end up paying $100 for something you could have sat down and done in an hour and a half.
Answer: Hi Carolyn, Thanks for asking! The process will begin with a questionnaire. If after you submit the questionnaire, the writer has follow-up questions, the writer will reach out.
Answer: Be careful with this company. They post 1000s of fake reviews to hide the real ones. Note that they do not post their phone number or address on the website. I had to file with the BBB to get a refund after never being contacted. This is a SCAM company - you are better off writing your own resume, trust me on this
Answer: You will not get your money refunded, no matter how bad the result is. I tried.
Answer: Because this company is a sham. Please do not waste your money. There are plenty of reputable services that you can use.
Answer: I second that, Alex! This service is a sham! I've been assigned 3 different writers and have received a subpar product back each time, written by someone who's first language is clearly not English. The best part, I paid $100+ for a "LinkedIn Rewrite" and this was where the writer copied and pasted their version of my resume into the boxes for LinkedIn. You've got to be kidding me... Don't waste your money!
Answer: I am on month two and still have not received a finalized document. Currently, I've gone through 3 different writers and still do not have a usable document. My original resume, cover letter and LinkedIn are far better products than what I've received from TopResume. If you are thinking of using this service, please PASS. It has been a tremendous waste of my resources: time and money. Best of luck to you.
