I tried to re-write my resume twice but it didn't connect well what I wanted to convey to the employers and I feel it was very dated. Therefore, I decided to engage TopResume. My writer did a pretty decent work in re-formatting, re-wording and organizing salient points in my resume in such a way that it looks more professional. She was also very particular that we remain in our time frame to revise and finalize the resume. Lastly, despite the fact that I have received my final draft, she still remained open for any assistance I would need--- this is what I appreciated.

Wish they were more responsive, I sent revisions and didn't hear back for almost 2 weeks. In the end I was very happy with what I received as the second revision. It really depends on what writer they chose for you with how many revisions you will need.

I got an offer for a free resume evaluation from one of the job search websites (Indeed?) and thought I'd give it a try. I received the evaluation from TopResume the next day. I thought the evaluation was bang-on! My resume was crowded and not visually pleasing. Admittedly I had used the same format for more than a decade, simply just adding items to it. But TopResume also evaluated it for how it would be processed by the candidate scanning/screening software used by many employers. Based on the evaluation and the reasonable price of the re-write I decided to go ahead. The writer did a great job. The end product was shorter, cleaner, and more effective. She taught me the resume has to be written for the screening software, the HR person reviewing it, and the hiring manager. I feel the language was a little "flowery", but she explained that using different adjectives helps get the resume to the next step in the process. It's true, I have gotten more hits and views with my new resume. Only complaint is I didn't know there was a 7 day time limit (maybe I didn't read the fine print). But TopResume extended the time limit by a few days and the 3rd revision was great.
The writer did a good job of updating an existing resume (making the format more modern and cleaning up/focusing my work experience). So from a content update standpoint, the experience was positive. The let down occurred when I asked the writer several questions and instead of answering the questions the writer tossed another resume update at me. The two way conversation was lacking.
I had thought about using a resume service for some time, and finally settled on TopResume because Monster.com offered a free resume critic through them. I liked the feed back provided and within a week or so, TopResume was offering a discount so I went for it. My resume format had not been changed sin 2001, so it was time! I received my new resume within 3 days, and you get 7 more days to as for 2 revisions.
My only complaint is I did not get my first revision until AFTER the 7 days was over. I didn't have much more to change, and since they give you the resume in an editable format that was ok. But I feel they should have gotten my first revision to me sooner.
All in all, I am happy with the over all product.
