This site claims to be in the same family as discount tire, however the systems are not integrated and the delivery process leaves much to be desired. My tire order was shipped using FedEx from a warehouse in the same metro area as the Discount Tire store I chose to be the installer. However, scan they were supposed to be delivered to the store the day before my scheduled install, FedEx decided not to attempt the delivery. The tracking page never updated on when they expected to be delivered either. TireRack needs more control over their delivery system, especially within the same 15-30 miles. It turns out discount tire (supposedly the same company now) has their own inventory warehouse and can send a courier to get the tires and possibly get them installed the same day for essentially the same price. I ordered the tires on Thursday for a Saturday install. As of Monday, still no idea what is going on with the tires TireRack shipped via FedEx. This totally destroyed their reputation with me and any perceived convenience is a myth. I will not be using their services again. Also, the appointment system for discount tire will send you reminders and trackers for your appointment, even when the tires are not there. There is no integration between the systems that are supposed to be the same company. Also, FedEx has always been unreliable. Do better.
Tire Rack is clearly the best site for purchasing tires and rims, period. From finding the style I wanted and seeing them on my car with their visualization tool to the actual purchase where they find every rebate and discount possible, the buying experience with Tire Rack is unmatched.
