My compliments to CHAILA who works for Americans chimney, gutters and roofing.
Very personable and knowledgeable. Very hard worker. Pays attention to detail. Made suggestions to replacement and the best way to stack my gas logs for best flow.
Thanks CHAILA. 2 thumbs up
Worked my way up to the number one guy in Broward County Florida for pressure washing and carpet & tile cleaning. Then they implemented background checks. I made mistakes when I was a youth and served my time for it. Made a good example for people who think life is over when someone makes mistakes. Well they sure proved it that they would rather have someone go rot under a bridge than go to work and be a productive member of society like one should. Booo on thumbtack. I'm making it out here now without them and suggest against them if people ask.
Been using Thumbtack for years at first it was great till they start bagging your bank account for fake leads... I spent on average $5,000-$6,000 Easily... if not more a year. They change there policies at there liking. 75%-80% of leads are tire kickers people with poor communication and not willing send over contact information. Not a phone number nor do they want to meet in person. Thumbtack polices protect them selfs from refunding money base on them not refunding people's hard earned money when there marketing is bogus 80% of the time. Simply on bases if the client does not provide a good phone number to reach out to them they can't not use there service.
They take money to use there platforms in which due not work now you pay for dirt more than 80% of the time. I feel that they are charging small businesses and not returning money for quality leads.
I don't mind spending $50-70 per lead if it was quality. But I have seen leads upwards of $90 and the client is not willing to give a phone number. BIG PROMISES LITTLE RETURN. SMELL A BIG LAWSUIT COMING THERE WAY ONCE AGAIN.
My first time using the site was the experience from hell. I needed assistance with a computer problem and was confident enough to know what needed to be done. It is just that I couldn't do it myself so I needed the help of a Pro.
Stated my issue, selected a few that I thought based on their profile could help as well as Thumbtack opens it up to their pool of pros. The first guy that I interacted with demanded payment after offering a suggested solution via their text interface without any phone contact with me. I couldn't implement his suggestion due to my computer problem. I told him that and he responded that it was my problem and that he had to be paid for his suggestion anyway. I refused to pay for something that I could not do - who does? He reported it to Thumbtack and they deactivated my account even after me explaining what happened and that the text messaging exchange between us is stored on their server. I still have a computer problem so my issue was never resolved.
I used to use thumbtack religiously for leads, but now they give leads to 33 pros instead of 5 like they used to which means way more competition and less likelihood of you getting a job. But they are charging the same price for a lead. Don't use them.
Thumbtack is a Rip Off. You can contact prospective customers for FREE, BUT when/if the customer replies back to your offer (either YES or NO) you are charged LARGE amounts.
A customer responded back to an offer I made, simply to tell me that she was already working with someone else. Thumbtack hit me with a $9.84 fee.
I contacted Thumbtack to dispute this charge, but they only agreed to give me a CREDIT. So guess what eventually they would have still get my $9.84.
They refused to refund my money to my card, unless I Deactivated my account.
Plus, the representative who assisted me was extremely rude, nonchalant, and careless.
Goodbye Thumbtack!
Do not use Thumbtack! The customer support is TERRIBLE. Absolute worst. Stay away! They insist that they have a team with NO phone numbers and NO emails and cannot be contacted.
Did excellent job matching the stain and the paint, and installing the door and the hardware. Cleaned up the basement bedroom floor when finished.
It used to be kind of good. Now it is in clear decline.
For a long time I've been asking them fo add the category "Latin" to music entertainment, to be able to receive more specific leads, but they haven't. It's been months whithout being hired through them.
On top of that, the way they charge you is not well designed and doesn't work properly. Many times you end up paying for leads that don't turn into hiring.
I don't recommend them.
DO NOT USE! At first I wasn't going to leave a review because I thought it couldn't be that bad... it is THAT BAD. All they do is take all of your money and you probably will get like one job and that one job you get depending on how long you've been on this app probably won't make up for the money you've spent. Then they ask for you to get reviews for your profile I got honest reviews from costumers I've worked with in the past and they've deleted them... every single time! And then they put on there to add more reviews. I can't even. Point being if you like losing money COOL get on this app. If you like making money stay away! You'll end up paying them more than you make :/ side note WHY ISNT THERE A WAY TO LEAVE NO STARS! I'd feel better if I could leave no or negative stars for them #TRASH #RUN #DONOTUSE
It seemed like a good deal that you pay for leads rather than traditional advertising where much of money used is ignored or glazed over. But it isn't a good deal at all.
They find new ways to "find" you leads and to charge you. However you get so little business from it. The cost per lead starts to add up, especially when so few actually start to follow through. But even that doesn't mean new business or clients.
I've had a number of people mark me as hired but never even communicated with me and of course they never actually hired me. I've had others actually schedule appointments then cancel at the last minute. Like a doctor, alternative healers cannot work off of clients cancelling a scheduled appointment within just a couple of hours.
I'm now convinced Thumbtack hires people to create fake accounts to act as leads just to charge their pros and then never give those pros any actual new business at all.
The thumbtack pro system for contractors is broken, I MEAN YOU GO BROKE TRYING TO GET GOOD LEADS FOR BUSINESS
This system is broken
Not only did you charge me for jobs I did not get, but I also lost 40 hours of time that I spent writing bid proposals and searching for more leads, can you please review the activity on my account I have been charged $171 for leads for jobs I never was hired for and I have only been hired 1 time to hang 1 piece of art, for total revenue of $75, something is broken here,
Horrible for pro, they still money from you like crazy.
They charge for every customer who contact you, but those customers are shopping around so thumbtack get aprox 30 to 50 dollars from each pro they client is contacting.
Can you believe this?
Waist of money... last 3 weeks i spend more than 350.00 dollars and i got only 1 client.
Thumbtack did have a small company closed because they make more money then the company do I thought Thumbtack was a company that help small business grow. I thought it would be a good investment oh how wrong was I if you want your company to stay open STAY AWAY FROM THEM
I've been on thumbtack for more than a year. I get about 20% actual bookings out of all the leads I had to pay thumbtack. When there is an issue between the customer and the pro, they take the customer's side. Thats easy to understand because the customer generates alot of money for them by choosing many different pros for their inquiry. A lot of times I get fake inquiries because they never responded even when I messaged them several times. Recently, a customer made a mistake by giving me a one star review. I got frustrated and contacted thumbtack but they took the customer's side. I contacted the customer and we straightened out everything. The next day, my account got deactivated. I then went online and read reviews about thumbtack and realized thats it is about time for me to find other websites to grow my business.
Gave you plenty of occasions to fix the lie you let a client (probably a scammer or fake account) tell about my business.
He said he "hired" me, and he never did, but you show me under his name as "hired by him" that is not true and consequentially he was able to review me one start when I never had any interaction with him other than telling him I don't do his type of job
Not only you made me automatically pay for his lead! So I spent 30$ a fake person to get insulted? And I spent 1 hour with your customer service to be told it was okey he can lie about me I need to answer him, and they didn't want to delete the fake review (nor give me back the money obviously, but that is their standard business)
Pros please don't use this service! They will stoled your money! The most leads you will have are fake and the "fake customers" will never responce you! But you will be charged for a lot of money!
When we first started with thumbtack, we paid around $8 a lead. We had an amazing profile with 65 positive reviews. After three years they charge $65 a lead and half are fake and when it comes to supporting US the people who pay you they treat you like nothing. We had one problem with a customer that we couldn't come to an agreement on. Thumbtack thinks they control everything trying to demand how it's handled but I'm sorry it doesn't work that way. When we tried to make it right not one person from thumbtack support would contact us back or try for that matter. They deleted our profile and everything we worked so hard for. Beware to all you small business trying to come up. They only care about the money not helping the business grow or be successful. Your competing for every lead with about 8 other companies and it end up being who can be the cheapest. That's not how a customer should be treated. They deserve quality.
THUMBTACK GONE BAD
1. Tripled the cost of leads. Terrible!
2. Introduced "Instant Match" that doesn't allow the Pro to see the specific details of the job, and then decide to pass or buy the lead. Not cool!
3. Now want our budget upfront. Intrusive!
4. Has terrible customer service. Horrible!
5. Only gives Pros an credit for future leads if customer doesn't respond to the Pros reply. Thieves!
Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. It's important to us to obsess about answering our customers and professionals questions and concerns within a timely manner. We are a real company that can always be improving. You can read more about our company in reputable sources such as Forbes and the New York Times. Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
