For pros, if thumbtack has your C. C. on file, watch out for unauthorized charges.
Their leads are crap and it is a waste of time and money.
They claim to do background check on the contractors that use their site however I hired someone from their platform to later learn that he was a felon and he attempted to assault me, after he conned me out of thousands of dollars. I ended up having to call the police. When I notified thumbtack they did not suspend his license. Now Juan Guarderas is using a fake name on their profile of Luis. They have 0 credibility.
I've set appointments with 2 different people to paint the interior of my house and put down new flooring so it's not like it's a little nothing job. Both times they never never showed. Will never use thumbtack again.
Thumbtack was great at first it was simple and ro the point with decent quote prices. But like everyone else that has a good thing going I'm sure they dragged in a bunch of empty suits with "fresh ideas " and ran it into the destructive course I'm about to lay out. Basically the old system was pay to quote this job but they charged a little to much so I'm sure they had a lot of refund requests. So instead of charging less and not having to refund everything they literally tripled the prices on what they called "direct quotes" and entrapped you by sending you only requests from hundreds of miles away. This way you would pay for the bull$#*! more expensive requests. Anybody could see the scam there but the best part was when they upgraded my service and started charging my credit card for leads I didn't know I was getting because I stopped using their crooked service regularly. I would like to give them 0 stars I got my money when I complained to my bank because they wouldn't refund me. If any anyone reading this is in a business like thumbtack open the flood gates to succeed and charge no more than 10 dollars for a lead because most are tire kickers and craftsman don't like dumping money into an ocean of online deception
Called Gary and he responded almost at once. He came to our Condo and gave me a quote. I accepted and he and his employee started pressure washing the small Patio and driveway they both look great after they finnished. I'll call when the "stay at home" is over and have him do the windows both in and out. Bob and Mary Hammar
I have used thumbtack for several months and for months i was never given my refunds for things they say they give refunds for so i finally sent a email after spending and wasting hundreds and hundreds of dollars with this disgusting company. After finally sending this email and showing pics of where it said i should get these refunds i was finally issued something called courtesy credits for 66 dollars worth of leads so they obviously were not going to say they were wrong but at first i was happy overall with that but then i realized once i went to start bidding on jobs again every single job was priced to the exact amount they credited my account for which was 66 dollars like please tell me how terrible that is and better yet im a cleaner and the coronavirus has been a thing for over a month now so way to go thumbtack way to go you and your company disgust me
Vendors and Professionals BE AWARE
Thumbtack will charge you wrongfully for leads, even tho they admit you should not be charged, they still don't give you refund for it. You get charged even tho lead is not in your budget range. I have email from support team member stating i should not be charged automatically but declined to give a refund for charged amount! How much money did they wrongfully charged and how much money did Thumbtack made profit out of it?
Tried to schedule services and entered all information to register for what purpose I don't know cause the seem to tease the same questions then get BS-ed by the person blaming the network for incompetence!
Will send unqualified con artist posing as contractors. Money back guarantee? If you request they never respond. Just as unscrupulous as many of the supposed contractors they supply.
They began to charge me without giving me leads. I spent a while with them trying to run around in circles saying they couldn't find my account or they couldn't validate the charges I sent them from my bank statements. I deactivated my account and am continuing to get charges from them months later. I can't get ahold of anyone to sort it out
Great work and very reasonable. Kcroofing and repairs awesome! They came right out too resolve my problem and I was very happy.
It is clear to me that thumbtack creates fictitious "Leads," sends them to Contractors, and then charges contractors for leads them. If a customer does not respond to a lead that you have paid for, thumbtack refuses to give you any phone number or email address to contact the customer, so you cannot verify that it was a valid lead. Also, Thumbtack charges for leads when a customer has canceled their request for work. The Thumbtack service works very poorly, and contractors should stay away from them, and use another service. Sherry Carr has been giving musical classes to my daughter for several years now. She will graduate next year and become a music major. She taught her method, organization and, reinforce the love for music she already have. Thank you for your positive attitude.
I asked about service from a pro. They were shady and obviously is the sex traffic area i said not interested and was going to report them. They must of beat me to the punch cause next thing i know thumbtack deleted my account. I emailed customer service and told them i have text message proof i would like to send them and they replied it didn't matter and that there was nothing i could do about my account and to have a good day. So they took the side of sex trafficker and wouldn't listen to me at all. I reported them and thumbtack to the state attorney's office for review. My opinion thumbtack is becoming the next hidden back page.
Sent a project to five "Pros" and never heard back from a single one. I won't be using this app any longer. It's a joke.
This company is based on stealing money from hard working contractors.
They send you fake leads so they can charge your credit card. After they get your money, even if you complain, they will not return the cost of the fake lead to you.
Fo not use this company, trust me!
Alvin and Michelle Privette make a great team. They did a beautiful job on the backsplash for my kitchen
Don't ever let any contractor recommend buy thumbtack.
They don't do any real screening and the contractors that come to your house have fake reviews with out real experience.
Buyer be ware if you don't have to go through the nightmare we had to through and lost lots of money.
The problem was one I thought run of the mill. Jarid Hardee fixed it, letting me know other things, repaired, which he attributed with having compounded problem. This was a biweekly issue, that has not reoccurred in months! Professional, punctual, purposeful making plumbing problems prevented!.
It is stunning to me that thumbtack is not offering any discounts to pros when so many people are out of work and losing their businesses.
They just sent an email saying that we are here for you (pros) and what a waste of time it is. Everyone is offering deferred payments, donations, etc. but there is thumbtack still with its billion dollar hand out grabbing for more. Open your eyes and see how completely tone deaf they are acting right now.
Hey thumbtack when you file for your IPO the country is really going to be watching, and setting your "value" can't wait to watch you crash.
Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. It's important to us to obsess about answering our customers and professionals questions and concerns within a timely manner. We are a real company that can always be improving. You can read more about our company in reputable sources such as Forbes and the New York Times. Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
