Ryan of Halcyon LLC repaired my Canon printer. He was excellent. It required a new main board. He was reasonable and very easy to work with. I highly recommend him for repairs, set ups and anything you might need electronic. Very reasonable and reliable. Great Kudos to Ryan!
I used thumbtack, given the guarantee (they don't honor it) and belief that the contractor I hired to replace my roof, who is still listed was licensed, insured and bonded. After all, thumbtack clearly stated that - and if there was a problem they would cover "damage to property" caused by one of their listed service providers. The "contractor was not licensed, stated he was insured by Thumbtack (they both misrepresented the coverage and never paid one cent); the contractor is convicted in 3 states on multiple fraud (felony and misdemeanor) in NC (as recently as 2020), NJ, FL, VA. Thumbtack lied about having an attorney (the last one left); lied to State of California Consumer Affairs (in writing) and Attorney General's Office. Beware. This listing service is in it to get money from contractors - to hell with consumers they burn or houses they ruin (due to negligent failure to tarp and pulled roof, use competent staff causing additional damage to walls, collapsed ceilings, ruined floors, electrical damage, and more)
Did a survey 2 days ago about how easy Thumbtack is to navigate and did I like the app. I told the truth that it's hard to understand and some pros dont even respond once you create a project. Randomly today I went to check and see of anyone has responded and my account was deactivated. I immediately deleted the app completely and decided to find a different avenue.
They changed how they notify you for leads.
They automatically take money now even if you don't want it.
They do not call you when you send emais, text requesting to dispute charges.
I canceled my account right a way. Horrible, terrible, I loath this company..
I have been using as a business owner to get leads. Sadly a previous employee had the info for the account and has been using my company name and this site to acquire leads for himself. I have reached out to Thimbtack to try to get the person blocked. But oddly even though I recieved messages in my email and on the business phone of leads in Califirnia (my company is in Houston Tc) being answered and communicated with Thumbtack doesn't see them. HMMM a bit odd to me. And they can't seem to help me. I would NEVER recommend this site to any business for use.
I am a Realtor at and Elevated Realty did our Photo Shoot and Virtual Tour pf Our Personal Home. They Did a Great Job and Their Drone Work is Fantastic!
Their high reviews of contractors are deceptive. Most consist of people without the skills they claim to have overcharging for their services. I've tried a few and experienced damages as a result. One gentlemen installing a toilet upstairs in my house forgot to turn off the water outside and flooded my upstairs, causing water damage to my downstairs bedroom that I had to pay multiple companies to fix. That's just one example. Use at YOUR own risk! Other examples are when I hired someone to powerwash my driveway and sidewalks and he took the paint completely off my porch, didn't accomplish anything with his power washing and got mad and left when I complained! Another one is hiring someone to clean a vacant home and they show up and break my built-in microwave... I do check for insurance but these folks definitely are good at wiggling out of whatever they don't want to handle by ghosting you afterward whether they should do something or not. It's always risky to use this service because there's no way to separate the good from the bad contractors due to lots of fake reviews everywhere!
The so-called pros are anything but.
No shows, no calls. Do not send bids when they say. Worst experience.
Thanks to Covid, businesses like this use it as a excuse to have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. THEY EVEN LIE ABOUT IT.
Had one person respond then was charged hundreds without a name or an email or phone number for the "lead"
I was looking for a laptop screen repair and a number of vendors came up, listed as "Serves [name of my town in Pennsylvania]. I selected a callback option for the top-rated one, and after no response for a couple hours, I googled the vendor company name and found it was in Arizona. Called their number and the owner answered -- he said the only way to service the laptop would be if I shipped it to him. So Thumbtack returns results for vendors located anywhere, and there's no way to drill down to local vendors. Ridiculous! You're coming after Angie's List, are you Thumbtack? Good luck with that, you dilettantes.
They are in it for the money. Couldn't care less if people find work. They send post of jobs for out of state. Spend a lot of time cleaning those out of my email and out of my messages. Send me a message claiming a customer wants to know when I am available and they are contacting only me cost me to reply which I do. Then never another word from the person. Complete ghost. They don't even read my message no oh sorry changed my mind. No refund for me. What a rip off. For all I know it was them sending it. During the virus shutdown money is tight as it is.
Darin Monfre refurbished an old trunk I have held on to for 40 years. It looks amazing with attention to detail restoring it but keeping the authentic look. I would definitely recommend his work. After vs before pics.
As a business owner who was using thumbtack beware. They have doubled their prices for the contractors. We pay a lead fee when a customer is interested in our services. If you customers are not getting people contacting you I would do what you can to find that contractor through google Facebook whatever means necessary. I can not afford the prices they charge so unfortunately customers are missing out. It's sad but those are the facts and they do not want to do anything about it. So to the customers please try to find people you are interested in through Facebook the web instagram however you can find them!
I was deleted from Thumbtack as a user. Mind you, I have hired many Thumbtack vendors. I recently requested a boudoir photographer (which is an actual category) and asked one of the vendors if he would shoot a male model. I was immediately blocked from the App. When I contacted customer care, I received this email:
Thanks for reaching out about your account.
Your profile was removed from Thumbtack for violating our Terms of Use and won't be reconsidered.
If you didn't request to reactivate your account, please contact us.
- The Thumbtack Team
So apparently asking a male photographer to shoot a male for a boudoir photo shoot is against their terms of use. This is discriminatory. LGBTQ community, choose another App. Do not support this business.
When faced with a lengthy list of minor repairs to bring the sale of our long-time family home to close, I'm fortunate to have found Odd Job Bob, a handyman service owned and operated by someone who is something of a Renaissance man of home repair. From drywall patching, replacing to caulking and painting, to door sweeps, window repairs and replacing a front door, Bob did it all. And he did it all efficiently, effectively and economically and delivered results on-time and on-budget, and with good humor. Thanks, Bob!
They take your money but can't give it back and giving back credit is forcing someone to spend back what they lost not making sense at all I will never stop to let all hardworking people now that your money is being exchanged for credit back to your account nobody is an idiot.
I have used thumbtack twice and been so disappointed.
We hired movers from here. On the day of my move i confirmed with the mover if he is coming and he confirmed. 30 min before the schedule time also he confirmed but did not show up and switched off his phone... thumbtack does not filter scammers or verify the businesses... its an unreliable source. Do not recommend using it ever
I've gone through seven different handyman alleged pros and please notice I use the word pros extremely loosely. Every single one has not completed the job or done it right and every single one has been flakes and never show up when they say they're going to and don't even call to let you know just the worst worst place to find pros and again I use that word loosely on the site
Selected a Groomer Pro for my dog that has needed to be groomed since February. Reached out too the ONLY groomer in my area for over a week and have heard NOTHING from the Pro and only heard "find another pro" but like I said, NO OTHER "Pro" in MY area and wasn't willing to drive 2 hours to the NEAREST groomer so all I can say is, THINK TWICE BEFORE USING Thumbtack
Today I recieved a 47.00 charge for a lead that used to cost me between 5.00 to 7.00.
Then the lady who was in chat had a unique name and the same name popped up in my city for a job THEY ARE GENERATING FAKE LEADS. When they started out they were great the leads had a fair price now they are a Total scam i was hired 3 to 5 times per 2 weeks in 2018 in 2019 was hired 1 time by luck hired 1 time in 2020 good luck to any.
Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. It's important to us to obsess about answering our customers and professionals questions and concerns within a timely manner. We are a real company that can always be improving. You can read more about our company in reputable sources such as Forbes and the New York Times. If anyone has specific concerns about certain requests you’re receiving, we’d be happy to review them and see how we can help. Feel free to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we have an amazing support team that is just waiting to talk to you.
Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
