When we arrived, we were given a compact car that would not even hold our four passengers and luggage and were told that Expedia really gave us a "C" class car (which means nothing to us) and then told us that our price for this tiny car was really over $1600. 00 USD, not $950.04 as stated on our reservation! So, here we are with a car that is too small for our passengers and luggage but now we are also being charged almost twice what our Expedia confirmation letter stated. The car rental said this kind of mistake is common with Expedia and it was all their fault. Our encounter was very unpleasant, and the Hertz/Thrifty agent really did not care what our problem was or if we would ever be return customers. Very unhappy in this deceptive event!
I would have not taken this vehicle off the lot but I was late as it was. The vehicle smelled like cigar smoke, had two pine tree deodorizer hanging from the mirror. When I pulled the vehicle from the the garage I could then notice how filthy it was inside and out. After about driving 59 miles the tire pressure light came on. All four tires were under inflated by 14 to 16 psi. Sad that there standard has gone that low.
This is the worse company ever to rent a car. I rent a car from this company and I have my own sun pass and they have the nerve to charge $ 42 for toll that cost $2,64. Please do not rent car from this company because they are stealing customer money. This is a monkey business. This is the invoice number **************.
Only because negative stars are not an option yet.
Reserved with Thrifty (first & last time) Myrtle Beach airport location for pickup 11/1/21. Thrifty "service" rep said we owed over $100 more than reservation quote because we were 20 minutes early, which we weren't- we were right on time.
The agent told us "that's just how it is," which we disagreed with and asked for the manager, who happened to be the agent at the Dollar desk at her elbow.
The Dollar "manager" was quite rude, kept interrupting and was just ugly to us. They weren't going to budge until I remembered and produced a printed copy of the reservation. The Dollar manager immediately disappeared and the Thrifty agent sheepishly completed the transaction based on our printed quote.
I'm sure Thrifty saw two senior citizens and figured they could push us around, tack on additional charges and we would say nothing.
Nice try. Usurious and unethical trash. Thrifty and Dollar are owned by Hertz, so you might look to either Alamo (& National) or Enterprise for your rentals.
My rental agreement number was *******. The vehicle rental was pre-paid on J*******901 through American Airlines Advantage through Cheaptickets.com itineary **************. On 10/30/2021 I noticed the 2020 Toyota Corolla had a low tire pressure appear on the dashboard. I pulled over to a 7-11/Exxon station to check the tire. It was losing air pressure and was flat. I noticed it had a nail in it. I changed the driver's side front tire with great difficulty as I am 73 years old. My son also came and tried to help. When he arrived that the right rear tire was also flat. We called Thrifty at Dulles Airport and with some difficulty a vehicle the request for a tow truck was made at 10/30/2021 8:30 PM for a tow by AAA at 7113 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA *******. The tow truck and driver did not show up until 1:00 AM on 10/31/2021. The tow truck driver could not deliver the vehicle to the Dulles Thrifty facility because no one would be in the booth to let him to the facility. The rental vehicle was not returned by the tow driver until 11/1/2021 at 10:45 AM. If you examine the rental contract I only put 45 miles on the vehicle. My wife and I flew to Dulles to visit our son in Manassas, VA and he provided my wife and I with transportation as our rental vehicle had two flat tires. I prepaid the rental vehicle $400 and was only able to use the vehicle two of the four days of the rental contract. When my wife and I initially picked up the vehicle I noticed a funny sound coming from the front of the vehicle but did not think of it because I thought Thrifty would not rent me a vehicle that is unsafe or that has an initial problem. One note is that Thrifty has charged me $127.65 for the tow truck charge. No apologies. No concern. No care. They never offered to bring another vehicle to me or reimburse my son for costs of time and mileage associated with helping my wife and I. I will finish by saying this. I WOULD NEVER RENT A VEHICLE FROM HERTZ/THRIFTY EVER AGAIN AND WILL TELL ALL MY FRIENDS AND RELATIVES ABOUT THE TYPE OF SERVICE I RECEIVED AND A CORPORATION THAT RENTS DEFECTIVE RENTAL VEHICLES. AND TREATS ITS CUSTOMERS POORLY. INCIDENTALLY THE NAIL IN THE DRIVERS FRONT TIRE LOOKS LIKE IT HAD BEEN THERE FOR SOME TIME. THAT IS WHY YOU DESERVE LESS THAN ONE ON THE RENTAL EXPERIENCE. RENT FROM THEM AT YOUR OWN PERIL.
I reserved a car online. I went to pick it up at JFK. I got my contract. That's when the good experience ended.
I got my ticket to pick up a car at 5:53pm local time.
I left the parking lot at 7:15pm.
I will never, ever, use Thrifty again.
They truly do not care about their customers.
Sad.
My flight was delayed. I was unable to pick the car up until the second day into the rental, due to my flight being delayed. When my plane landed at my destination on the first day of the reservation, the car rental facility was closed, which caused me to not be able to pick the car up until the second day. I contacted customer service in regards to being credited for the day we DID NOT have the car and I was refused my request. This is terrible customer service. I was penalized for a situation that was out of my control and in not so many words told, "too bad, deal with it". In the future I will take my business elsewhere.
I got a rental through Expedia, had to cancel my trip. I could not get through to anyone for an hour. I got hold of someone at Expedia, and they could not get hold of anyone. Tried to call Thrifty at the airport I was flying into, and still couldn't get hold of anyone. Never again.
They will nickle and dime you to death. They have hidden fees. They will send you bill after a week of renting. Travelocity is looking into the extra charges they charged me after the rental.
We had prepaid just under$600 for the reservation but had come out another $1300 without any update( except $17/day for insurance) at San Francisco Airport, later we want to extend more days thought may ask for a discount, not only they made me wait on the phone so long and barely understand him but also had to return first try to book on line to get the deal, the most expensive and unpleasant rental we would ever approach them again
NEVER use Thrifty. I prepaid for a THRIFTY rental car thru Priceline. I contacted Thrifty the day of the rental to confirm the car from Thrifty in Jacksonville was available. They confirmed the car was available. When I got to the Thrifty counter around 11:00 pm I was told "sorry all the cars were given away". No explanation. No apology. They offered no help or options. When I asked if cars they would have cars available tomorrow, they didn't know. NEVER use THRIFTY.
I would give no stars for dishonest and outright corrupt customer service, if possible. While at the counter, discussing rental package options, I erroneously expected honesty. I had just gotten off a terrible and delayed flight with two children in tow. I said NO to extra charges such as "Premium road side service" and was charged anyway. I did not see this when I signed at the end. Vehicle engine light lit up during our trip, mileage only 67,000 miles. I will never use this dishonest company again. I hope customer loss was worth $60
Waited in line over an hour for a car and when we got one, it reeked of smoke! It had 57,000 miles on it and for 57,000 miles there was a smoker in that car and then Thrifty chose to
Give it to a mother and her young son! Thrifty should be ashamed! Our clothes and hair reeked of smoke, my son got sick half way through the trip and no one wanted to go anywhere because we would have to ride in that awful smelling car!
Thrifty was absolutely heartless and unhelpful. My father booked a rental car through Thrifty two years ago and was anticipated to leave on that trip last year. However, due to covid, the trip was post-poned until this July (2021) along with the rental car. My father unfortunately passed away in June of this year. The trip was planned for he and the men in my family to go fishing in Alaska. My brothers still wanted to go on this trip in his memory, but Thrifty was awful to try and change anything. The car was booked under my father's name and they wouldn't allow us to change the name to one of my brothers or even add a name because they insisted both people (meaning my father and brother) would need to be there to pick up the car. You can see how this was impossible. They then told us we would need to cancel the reservation and book it again at the price it was listed at now. First there were no cars even available to rent so they said we just had to try and book our same car right at the same moment we canceled or we were just out of luck. Another car became available and they let us book it for the price it was now, just plus another ~$1,000. Ultimately, we ended up canceling our reservation after countless hours spent on the phone with Thrifty and going with another company. I will never use Thrifty again because of the heartlessness and unwillingness to help that they showed me and my family during an already difficult time.
I paid up front for my reservations for $329.14. When I picked up the car I was asked for my credit card.
I told the rep I prepaid for my reservations. Thrifty rep needs a card on file and. I'll get the refund for $329.14 back on my card. OH NO. After 2 months of waiting for refund of $329.14. I called Thrifty Rent a Car! By the Thrifty agent I was told I signed to have all the extras when I picked up the car. This is a crooked Company. DO NOT USE
My husband and I recently rented a car from Thrifty Car Rental from their Orlando Airport location. We loved the car we were given but that is where the satisfaction ended. We reserved and paid for our car months in advance but when we arrived at the airport, we were required to stand in line in in excess of two hours. They had too few people working the counter for the amount of people that they had rented cars to. Also, part of the reason for the long line was that each customer, when it was their turn, had to endure about 30 minutes of high pressure sales to add on to the cost of their rental. Well we finally got our car and were off for our vacation. While driving around Florida, we used the pay by plate option at the toll booths. We have done this with other car rentals from other companies and would get a bill for whatever the tolls were, so we expected the same to happen here. But when we got our bill, we were in for a huge surprise. For a total of $11 and change in tolls, we were sent a bill for $91 due to "administrative costs". So overall, their customer service is terrible and so is their integrity. We will never rent from them again. We did have a nice car though.
During the hiring of a car and on returning the car the Thrifty Bundamba (Qld) customer service representative informed me that any tolls incurred would be debited from my card by Thrifty. This was incorrect as the toll company debits the card. Due to being misinformed when a charge was added to my card from a toll operator in another state I reported this as a fraudulent transaction and my card was cancelled and replaced. I have tried everyday for 6 days to contact Thrifty to give them my new card number so my deposit can be returned. To date, not one person from Thrifty has contacted me to resolve the issue and I've even returned to point of hire twice to resolve the issue and emailed the manager as per their request as well and still no one has contacted me. As a result I have filed a complaint with Qld Office of Fair Trading and also AFIA Car Rental Conciliation Service to help get my deposit returned. I would not recommend anyone using Thrifty in Bundamba or Logan due to their treatment of customers.
So we rented a SUV for my friend who has MS. Her mother died after she cared for in her home for three years despite her own MS condition. I take her to Utah for the trip she dreamed of and Thrifty threw a $300 service fee on there. They saw we had a service dog but said nothing when we picked up the vehicle. Then when we drop if off they said "didn't you read the terms and conditions?" When the line is backed up for hours who take the time to read that horrendously long list? It's like a bait & switch... never Thrifty again for us. And if they had given us a heads upI would have swept it prior to returning. But upon rental return I had not options. Bad Bad business!
I recently rented a car from Orlando Airport. Paid through Paypal and was charged $329.41 on my credit card for things I told them i didn't need.
After flying into MCO and going to get my rental in Concourse B. I found out Thrifty was closed and had to go to Concourse A. I believe an announcement should have been made that it was closed in Concourse B. After backtracking and going to Concourse A the wait was approximately 2 1/2 hours before I was seen by a representative. Usual bull$#*! of having to upgrade. By this time my patients were wearing thin. I don't care about paying the extra damn money. Went out to retrieve my upgraded vehicle. I was told all the vehicles were unlocked and the keys would be in them. Complete lie ended up with a piece of $#*! vehicle that I paid too much money for after waiting in line 2 1/2 hours. Very disappointed and will NEVER rent from thrifty again! Not to mention my vehicle smelled like somebody smoked a carton of cigarettes in it. Would've given it a zero reading but that wasn't an option.
