thredUP Reviews Summary

ThredUp's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the selling process and customer service. Many users report feeling misled about item valuations and processing times, leading to frustration over perceived exploitation and lack of transparency. While some customers appreciate the variety of products available for purchase, issues such as delays in shipping, inadequate communication, and poor handling of returns overshadow these positives. Overall, the sentiment leans heavily towards disappointment, prompting many to recommend alternative selling methods and express reluctance to engage further with the company.

I sent in a HUGE bag of name brand kids clothes. Half the clothes were barely worn. In the bag contained 59 items (I know because I wrote down every article I sent) of Old Navy, Gap, Gymboree. They only accepted 20 pieces of clothing and got a whopping $13 back. I'm so upset. That money was going for my kids' Christmas. Never again will I send them things.

I ordered for the first time and won't do again they give you a very expensive return option and if you get a credit you would pay shipping again for the other item. Won't use them again and the skirts were too small and they were my exact size that I wear all the time from the retailer they were made from. I won't use again and would not recomment

I have only bought from ThredUp. I have not tried to sell my personal clothing with them. All my purchases have been fantastic. The prices are perfect for someone who wants to invest in nice brands and nice pieces but while being mindful of how much it all costs. I love ThredUp!

I love Thredup! I can honestly say I have had no problems with them at all. When you send in a bag of clothes, they are quick to get back to you with a good price! I am a plus size lady and I love the fact that they have a great variety of plus size clothes at very reasonable prices! I recommend Thredup to all my friends!

Buying from Thred Up
August 8, 2015

All purchases were clean and excellent condition. Free ship is a nice feature. It did take a couple weeks to receive order so if you're in a hurry you may want to pay extra.

I have shipped a bag of clothes a few months ago. The thredUP won't take any clothes you have out there. They mostly want fancy designer clothing, the ones that look brand new. My shipment had SOME of the qualifying items in it (I knew some weren't 'good enough', but I accepted the outcome). Not only I didn't get a dime from the company, I never received an update on my shipment and another email from them ever.

AWESOME!
August 9, 2015

I love it! When my first package arrived I was very impressed the packaging, items and paperwork was excellent! Folded so neatly and wrapped in tissue paper! Not what I expected. Returns are easy - go for the store credit much simpler! If you are going to sell READ! A lot of people on here are complaining about the selling side... this company states clearly the terms and payout % seriously! Are you considering all aspects of the process? They make it easy to sell items that are not used that you need to shift they save time & effort they do it all for you - or keep it in your closet... sell it yourself independently? They are a 'business' and are not here to make a profit for you they provide you a service and you get some payback in $ but also help the environment and others! Their customer service is, in my own experience, outstanding! Love the clothes, love the company love the service! I love everything about this store!

Just like everyone else, I sent one bag (thank goodness it was only one) filled with really beautiful designer clothing that matched the stringent conditions required. For about $300.00 worth of clothing and shoes, I received $7.32. Therefore, once I get my refund for a dress that did not fit (so far it has been ten days since they received the returned item) and spend my $7.32, I will sign off and stick with normal retail sales and give my stuff to Goodwill.

Why does Thredup support TFA? If the company is sincerely interested in supporting education, they will find another organization to support rather than Teach for America. Are you aware of the negative impact TFA is having on our public schools and the children in the poorest communities? Sending an untrained teacher into our most difficult classrooms is not helping those children, in fact it is hurting them. TFA is basically a scab organization that's mission is to break up the teachers unions by replacing experienced, successful teachers with cheap temporary labor. Our children deserve much better than this. Really wish you would disassociate

Was ripped off!
August 1, 2015

I have sent in many many bags to ThredUp. Mostly disappointed in what I recieved as a payout. But I like the ease of sending it being done. So I decided to add up all if the prices they were asking for my items. It was just over $300. That's what they get. I recieved $30.00 for my bag. There were top kid brands like Polo, Janie n Jack oilily etc... how can they consider that fair? I feel as if I let myself be robbed. Please we need to all turn them into the BBB!

In reading the reviews on this website I found that others had similar bad experiences with Thred up. In addition if you want cash for your items you must have a paypal account. Not everyone has a paypal account! Must say I am fed up with Thred up.

Not worth it
July 30, 2015

I have made multiple purchases and slowly have been disappointed. The sizes are hit or miss with sizes. I have been shipped an item that was described as fitting a woman and clearly found out it is a girl size when it arrives. My last shipment of sweaters included a hole in the shoulder of one, stains on the front of another and a hold in the back at the shoulder on a third. Communication with this company is useless. I sent an email over my concerns and have yet to hear a word. I'm not bothering to send it back. I threw it is the trash as a lesson learned.

I LOVE to shop thred UP because I do believe that their quality is great and I'm rarely disappointed in what I receive. I wish that when they display white items that they would put a darker background behind the item, so many times it's hard to see the white item on the white background. So I try to stay away from white. Like so many other reviews I've read, I have sent nice clothes in to them and only received pennies for my clothes which was not what I expected, so I will never send them anything.

SCAM! NO PAY OUT
July 28, 2015

I sent in about $250 worth of clothes, 15-20 pairs of Abercrombie hollister, rock revival, miss me, express, etc. jeans. Also roughly 30 Calvin klein, gap, hollister/Abercrombie, Ed-hardy, express/the limited, polo Ralph Lauren, etc shirts/sweaters. THEY GAVE ME $7.55! UNBELIEVABLE, Also I sent them in, it took about a month to process and now it's been about 3 weeks & I STILL can't cash my balance ($7.55) out! This is terrible. I would've rathered donated my nice clothes to a local homeless shelter. What a scam. It would cost me $4.55 more than what they gave me to have my clothing sent back at this point! Never using ThreadUp again!

Fantastic!
July 26, 2015

Fantastic deals here. All 3 items purchased were in new or perfect condition. Shipping was a bit slow, but the bargains were so good that the week's wait was not a problem. (of course, I do live in a very rural area; that could have caused the delay).
Bottom line, I will definitely shop here often!

My first order, several of my my high-end items were faded and thread-bare. Returned. BUT to return you either pay a whopping $8.99 for shipping to get a refund OR free return shipping for store credit. I get it, keep us shopping, fine. EXCEPT it takes TWO WEEKS to process said return, meanwhile your cart is expiring daily so all the items you'd like to get instead vanish. SO annoying! Try to contact customer service? No one answers a line, EVER! Straight to voice service encouraging you to send a email but wait, I did that THREE DAYS ago to no avail. Boo! You're not that cool, online second hand buying is a dime a dozen these days. You coulda been cool but alas, you kinda suck.
