No longer worth it
October 25, 2018

We seriously used Thomasnet\ Thomas regional (Big Green Books) for over 50 years! Back before the internet and when the internet was relatively newish, say till 2005 or so, it was probably worth the money to advertise with Thomas. It is definately not worth it anymore. Seriously if you were going to spend 10K a year with Thomas, flush 5K down the toilet and you would have saved yourself 5k and feel better in the end. I hate to say but I believe we flushed 100K+ down the toilet over the last 12 years, 50K down the toilet would have been easier to handle. We are a machine / fab shop as well, which should have been in Thomasnets wheel house. I don't know if I blame them, so much has changed with everything and their formula just doesn't work anymore. Don't walk, but run away from them.

Intrusive sales
January 30, 2018

Their model works pre-internet now it's historic... This thing is as useful as blockbuster when netflix hulu are around. I do not recommend, money can be spent more appropriately using google ad words or web optimization. Check google trends and see how much this has fallen off. My parents used this back in the day. Get hip and avoid, way better alternatives for fractions of the price. Some sales rep is going to try and dismiss my claim, but these are just straight facts.

Ranking point scam
November 3, 2017

ThomasNet does programs by ranking points. We paid to be ranked first with 51 points in a category. Come to find out 2nd rank only had 35 points and all we needed was 36 points. They were ripping our company off year after year for over $5k. They are crooks and suggest you learn from our company's mistake!

First off I find it rather pathetic that Brendan O. Posts a review giving them 5 stars then Brendan O - (presumably the same person) responds as a Thomasnet rep two posts below. Sad day when you can't even keep your own deceptions straight. My company paid 800 a month for years to them and saw little or no return. When we put them on the spot and asked them to show what business they generated for us they sent us sales brochures. Total waste of time and money for us, annoyingly high pressure sales staff for their service, if their staff was half as annoying in trying to get us leads as get money from us we'd be a fortune 100 company!

STAY CLEAR
February 22, 2017

ThomasNet is full of promises and delivers on none of them. They are a smoke and mirrors marketing company. They request time to prove themselves however, only give 20 days to cancel a contract. ThomasNet's goal is to get past the cancelation period then there is a change in demeanor.

I even had a team member ask me to provide a fake invoice for upgrade on my account so that he can get a bonus.

I would recommend staying clear from ThomasNet!

No results, never modified our data, every time we'd make a change it would be reversed, horrible customer service, horrible editor, horrible experience. You've been warned. 7K down the tube for one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.

Completely mislead us, we had a site up for a few years, missed a payment, and boom - site was gone, domain was sold. Not only that but all the money we spent to have the site built was wasted as we lost the rights to the website. Avoid at all costs, the costs are plenty and steep and not worth it.

Big Promise... No Reults
March 18, 2016

Their sales people are excellent but the results just are not there. The bill has been very high and when we tried to get out of the contract because of their poor performance they say NO.
DON'T sign their contract without striking out those clauses. Remember they want your business. Let them earn it. If they perform keep them. If they don't you will be able to dump them.

It more than paid for itself
September 2, 2015

Although the program was pretty pricey I was glad I took the risk. My sales rep is an excellent resource and always available for any questions or concerns. I have been doing marketing for many years. I have to say, their reporting is the most thorough of any other program I run in the industry.

Big scam stay away
June 8, 2015

We had a sales rep come in and give us the pitch... We said we didn't want to move forward past the three month agreement they had us sign unless they showed us how it works and leads they generate... Around the three month mark the sales rep went MIA... Only to resurface to at around 4 months time to give us passwords and logins and show us what it can do... We told him that we were not interested and did not intend to sign up as he had fumbled everything already. He said let me see what i can do... i will get you a few months free so you see more clearly what we can do for your company..., he than tried to give us three months on the back end of a one year contract... Long story short we were passed to a regional manager who agreed that all the info the sales rep had given to us was false. That he would cancel contract the next day. 3 weeks and countless calls he explained he can't do anything to just go to court and that we would win so what's the problem... WHAT? This isn't how you win clients... With lies and deceits... Please stay away from them... I have a 8000 collections put on me for something they never delivered and nothing given... How do companies like this exist in this day and age #scam #thomasnet

Thomasnet delivers
May 26, 2015

We recently received a contract for a company who found us through ThomasNet.com. We currently supply them with parts on a weekly basis. We fly them ahead, so that when the ship comes into port, they can be retrofitted promptly. This has been worth at least another 25 to 30 thousand dollars per year. And this is business we would not have had if it weren't for ThomasNet.com.

We have advertised on ThomasNet for many years and have always treated it as a sort of billboard for advertising. We have found that other marketing avenues can generate more leads for the money spent, but we have been more interested in the exposure for our business on the ThomasNet directory. A Thomas rep explained a new banner ad program that was available which sounded perfect for the exposure aspect we were trying to capture. It was a larger expense for us and we decided to move forward based on the description given and examples of where it would display on the site. As it turned out, the banner was placed on much deeper pages with poor results over the course of a few months. This was a case where the sales rep did not understand what he was selling and gave us incorrect information about this "new program."

Hi Justin, thanks for providing your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you believe our program was misrepresented. While banner ads do offer branding exposure to differentiate you from your competitors on the ThomasNet.com supplier discovery platform, many other aspects of your total ThomasNet program are inherently more measurable (than branding) in relation to their direct impact on generating qualified leads and sales. Powerful and unambiguous measurement tools are included in every ThomasNet program. In most instances, once a rep sits down and reviews a program's actual performance with advertisers that share similar concerns to yours, the true ROI of their ThomasNet program becomes clear. We would like to look into your concerns -- whom should we contact to get more information about your experience with us?

"ThomasNet has helped me find many suppliers. All you have to do is type in what you are looking for and within seconds you are connected to a wide variety of suppliers. And with such a large base of suppliers you are able to find one that is best suited for your needs and who has the best price and is most reliable. This will save you time, money and a lot of stress."

I just started working for a larger company doing its marketing and I have a great deal of experience in the field. I am savvy with all the leading web platforms and how to make updates on them. I had never even heard of Thomas Net before starting here, and let me tell you there's a reason why! First of all, they use an extremely outdated website creator that is nearly impossible to operate. Which I only found out after WEEKS of asking Thomas Net to give me the back-end log in. They have terrible customer service, pry on less-tech savvy companies that often fall victim to paying them thousands to make any changes for them. When the company could have just went with a private designer, paid them less, and had their unpaid intern doing their updating on wordpress for free.

Whenever I try to apply and publish any changes, it either doesn't work or publishes them differently than how they appeared in the preview... It constantly throws its own alignment-off, and makes it virtually impossible for you to fix. Oh and don't bother calling them to ask for help, unless you want to pay $1500 in tech support! If I could give them -5 stars I would. Stay away!

ThomasNet.com drives customers, prospects, and suppliers to us year over year. With our Thomasnet listings and updated profile we have the assurance that customers still can find us. I was surprised to see some of what it was posted here but as a long term ThomasNet client I can guarantee you Thomasnet has always delivered for us.

I work at a machining shop and we've had a ThomasNet account for years. It's been really big for us, we get at least a few calls a week. I'm surprised to see a lot of these negative reviews, I tend to doubt there validity to be honest, especially when there are no specifics. We are listed in all of the services we offer, and we tend to get some business from them pretty consistently. I would definitely recommend it.
