My experience selling and buying from TheRealReal has been pretty awful. They sold me things that were not as described/ damaged, and when I trusted them to sell my items they lost them for months! Never would do business with them again.
Items arrived beautifully packaged and in pristine condition.
If I have any criticism, it's that there isn't an ability to ask questions and darker blues and greens are not photographed in lighting that makes their true shades discernible
I've purchased on TRR repeatedly and am a huge fan! I even show the app to all my friends who are not already in the know.
I am disappointed that the shipping on purchases has slowed down.
I used to place an order & out it went & appeared at my door in no time.
My most recent orders are extremely slow.
A dress I ordered has yet to leave the warehouse & it was paid for 5 days ago.
Is this how it will be now?
If so I am disappointed
I had placed an order of 3 items which were made to match each other. I only received 2 pieces and had to ask for the third which I never had.
I had a return of the money after 2 months, but I would never had bought the 2 other items if I had known this, and I feel cheated.
The one star is for the customer service because I had a quick reply. But I feel this is a false way of selling products, because I would never have bought any of the items if I had known the most important would not be sent
I was extremely satisfied with the customer rep and the expedited resolution
Love shopping at the RealReal. The prices are wonderful and the description and condition of the item are always on target.
I purchased a wallet and what I thought was a purse. The wallet is great and I love it. The purse is actually a messenger bag and I don't like it. When I tried to return it, I was informed I could not, even though I had not used it.
As with all my purchases, my Prada bag arrived very quickly, and in as good condition as described on the site. I couldn't be happier with some of my finds. It's good for my bank account and the environment, and definitely good for my closet :)
My items arrive quickly and is certified by experts.
Easy to use - great quality product. Arrives quickly.
Items are of great value (often), but only buy if you are 100% sure you want it, its teh right size and willing to keep it no matter what. They charge for shipping both ways, even if item is damaged, they offer a minor discount or site credit (only if you push), even items that are listed as eligible for return, they will find an excuse to not give you a refund and instead offer site credit, which expires after a while with no warning, pouff your money is gone, and the answer is a rephrasing of "tough luck, you should have paid attention)
I loved all of my purchases. All of the items were sold as described. The shipping was fast, too. I will order from The RealReal again.
Sadly, the shirt that I received was stained in white paint or some kind of white color on a navy sweater. I shouldn't have to pay for a product, only get merchandise credit and pay for the shipping back to TRR. It's bad business and dupes the customers. No integrity. Highly disappointed on how the customer service was not helpful or understanding.
Order came as expected. Decently fast shipping. Items came as expected.
I purchase a pair of pants and received a long sleeve shirt instead. I sent the wrong item back and never received the original item I purchased.
Customer service folks are not helpful, when you ask to speak with a supervisor/manager they drop your call.
I recently found out that a bracelet I bought from therealreal was not gold but stainless steel. It does not take a rocket scientist to determine gold from steel. Gold is not like designer wear. I had the bracelet over a year and was informed by a local pawn shop jeweler that it was not gold. He did not even get closer than 5 feet when he saw it. I found another one at TRR with same retail priceand same brand but 18k like mine was supposed to be. Therealreal(TRR) is refusing to exchange it by buying that bracele for me. They are telling me either they send it back to me and I eat it or I have to accept what I paid for it. I paid a 40% discount for their inability to sell it and with earned credits and spent a lot of time looking for a good deal. I lose all that. How much confidence can you have that something is real when they can't tell steel from gold? Oh and when you sell anything under a price of 100 dollars you only get 30%. But you are told that you saved so many liters of water for keeping designer stuff and 14k plus gold jewelry from the dumps. Who throws that stuff out anyway? Where do they think the water goes, out in space? Did they not violate a contract with me by selling fraudulent merchandise in a bait and switch? I mean they are called the realreal!
Experience is normally great although this time I was disappointed.
Paid 30$ for expedited shipping (1 day) and it came in 5. I returned a couple items because it didn't arrive in time for me to wear so I ended up having to buy something else and also got charged a 11.95$ return/processing fee. The woman I spoke to the on the phone the was trying her best to do everything and anything to help me but she could not. It was not her fault. So this is why I am giving a not so great review on the experience.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
