I love the real real and will continue to buy from there occasionally. The only barrier to making it my go to online store is the unknown import duties to Canada. I ordered a pair of shoes and paid $18 import and the following week paid $87 for a different pair. That unknown factor gives me pause. I wish there was a way to know the cost up front. This is not the websites fault but if they could provide a service that includes duties and taxes it would be incredible.
I purchased two pair of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. The sandal was 2 sizes too small. In my area, there were no available printers to print the label! Now, I'm stuck with a small sandal that I paid for! All because it was not returned in specific time frame!
I just edited this review because my review is 1-Star "Very Dissatisfied"... this site changes it to 5-stars after I click submit! What!? More shadiness from the Realreal no doubt. Here is my review:
I consigned clothes for a $100 Stella McCartney gift cert. The details weren't fully disclosed beforehand as to what exactly I would be receiving... which was not a sitewide gift certificate. Once I consigned I found out that the gc couldn't be used in certain departments at Stella McCartney. Apparently there was fine print. Very shady to lure people into something unknowingly. Just very low and clearly not appreciating their clients or they would not operate this way.
I have returned items just because it doesn't suit me and on those two occasions I have emailed customer service; most recently is over the long weekend, I got the response two days later which is unexpected because everybody is on vacation I suppose. I get my refund back from my previous transaction within 3 days which usually takes 7-10 business days; it doesn't get any better then that, what more can I ask for?
I purchased a evening jacket going by style, price and of course measurements. I received the jacket and the measurements of the bust, waist and sleeve length were off by up to 6"! Had to call for return label since I wasn't going to pay the $11.95 return ship and also wanted my $11.95 shipping fee back when ordering the jacket. Packed it up, dropped it off at UPS and after waiting over a week I got my refund back. While looking for possibly another jacket noticed the very same one I just returned for incorrect measurements reposted... with the same incorrect measurements. Someone else will purchase and go thru the same frustration as me. Also beware, many clothing items I have purchased have a very strong perfume smell. The last was so strong I had to dry clean it and it's be airing out for 3 months and still smells.
My experience continues to be great with this company. My purchases are as described and I have never had an issue.
Bought two Belstaff items. Jacket is awesome, better than expected. Having the measurements listed is one of the biggest reasons I shop this site and a driving factor of why I bought it. Jeans didn't work out, too skinny, and the returns process was easy. Processed pretty fast
The service was horrible, Melissa was very unprofessional!
Emily was very professional, helpful and friendly. She answered all my questions and provided the credit back to my account.
She is a terrific example of a great customer support representative.
Accurate descriptions, beautiful clothes and fast shipping. Huge selection.
I ordered a dress and matching blazer. The dress was the size ordered but the blazer, although marked as the right size was about 4 sizes too big. I did not notice this until it was too late. Also it took a long time for the items to be shipped.
My original order was partially delivered I was missing necklace (that was a Birthday gift to my daughter). I spent 3 weeks chasing after what had happened to rest of my order. Order # R*******
Item that I did not receive NECKL*******
I emailed customer relations emails did not have response even though they indicate they will get back to you '24 hours'. I had to call and inquire where the order was (I am in Canada so had to pay for long distance call). Eventually they found the missing item I am still waiting for the deliver. This has taken weeks. Customer service has problems -
Purchased a comme de garçon shirt and Proenza Schouler top which were both in very good condition as described. Like the diversity and quality of TRR's inventory.
Originally RealReal was a great service; when you consigned they submitted prices for you to review and asked before discounting. Now they take or reject your items with no discussion, the same item and quality are priced differently on the site, things are incorrectly labeled as "with tags" but actually worn. Just not the same experience it was several years ago.
So far so good - each of the items I've purchased have been good quality and in as-advertised condition. Shipping has been prompt. I have yet to do a return so I can't speak to that.
Bought a Burberry belt and Versace tie that both said no visible signs of wear. They were right; I'd guess these are both brand new! Also got 20% off using the code REAL. Great deal for the price and excited to look good at my friends wedding!
I ordered an item April 1st. A week later it was still "pending" and was never shipped (although my payment was immediately processed). I sent an email and waited 3 days for a response (due to COVID and limited staffing, I was being generous) NOTHING. I called and was told by the representative that they will contact the warehouse to see what the problem was and to give 24-48hrs for a response. Another week went by and NOTHING. No email, no call back. I emailed and the next day I called again and got the same response. I decided to give The RealReal another chance, but 3 days later... NOTHING. I finally called a third time (it has now been three weeks and my item was still not shipped) and I had to DEMAND that I get a refund for my order. I was constantly being asked "to wait another 24-48 hrs" so that the customer service rep can contact the warehouse. I told her that I've waited long enough and that response was given to me twice before... nothing has happened and I want my money back immediately. After going back and forth for some time on the phone and refusing to "wait 24-48 hrs" I was given a refund. It was such a hassle even though the problem was their fault. I never got an email or call back from the previous emails or phone calls. I will NEVER shop here again.
I thought this was a reputable company but I recently purchased a pair of J Brand jeans, which were described as black when in fact they were a very dark blue and, to my surprise, were actually a pair of maternity jeans! Nothing in the description mentioned this as being maternity. I have purchased numerous things from them but I no longer trust them as a company. When you falsely described your merchandise, which is not returnable, this is just plain lying to your customers.
I've tried to purchase items from your site using IOS safari and pay with paypal. After i go through the prcoess it doesnt allow me to checkout or show me any error messages. Please make the error messages available to the user so i have some idea what is going on.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
