I just want to ask you to please start specifying whether the size is for men or women. I have had to send back shoes that came up for women and they were a man size. Same w clothes. Also, please add male female onto the refine choices. Thank you
There is no mechanism for getting my consignment returned if I am not happy with the price/20% discount. I called (on hold for 20+ minutes and hung up) and emailed to have my item returned with no response and my item was sold within 1 day (price was ridiculously low plus 20% off). I shop a lot of the site and love it, but consigning is problematic.

My daughter bought me a $200 gift card for my bday in May. I have yet to be able to use it! Per the Real Real it's already been used…in fact a $200 site credit was used but NOT the $200 gift card. Should be a simple accounting issue. Ridiculous that it is still unresolved many months later.

And I requested that a skirt which was on the mannequin backwards be adjusted.
RR message says adjustments take 3-5 days. My corrections took about 10 days.

This last order I placed was over $300 (which may not seem a lot to you). I received two of the items within a week or so. I promptly returned one of the two items as it was too large. I got an RMA number but forgot to put that in the box. I reached out via email several times not only in regards to the returned item but the rest of the order —- which was never shipped. Fast forward about 6 to 8 weeks when I called my credit card company and they gave me a refund for the items I did not receive. Within a day of that happening, miraculously, the rest of my order was shipped.
I have yet to receive the credit for the blouse that I sent back even though I've given all the information including the RMA number, item number etc.

As a longtime customer and after several purchases, I reported one fairly inexpensive item as missing from one shipment.
After several emails to customer service, i never got a response as to what happened.
It's really a bad reflection on (nonexistent) after-sales customer service.

Everything I've received has mostly been exactly as explained, I've only had to return one damaged item and one shirt that was too large. I wish "The Real Real" would post better and more pictures of their items, especially jewelry. I've read a lot about the company and even hold shares myself but I do worry about their authentication department, it needs more experienced staff.

If you crave well made clothes and shoes and also want to offset your carbon footprint, The Real Real is the site for you. I purchase more and more of my wardrobe on this site because the clothes are very well-made, stylish and clean. If you have ever felt icky about wearing previously owned clothes or thought you might hurl when you stepped into a consignment shop, don't worry. The Real Real does not need a trigger warning. The clothes are very clean and show no signs of wear. They are delivered in sweet little bags that can be re-used for travel or to keep you organized. The site is easy to navigate with consistent photos of the merchandise. Returns are easy and the staff members are exceptionally good at their jobs. Clothes, shoes, bags, and especially jewelry are fun to browse. You can build a list of your faves and get notified when the price drops. And every hour there is new and exciting merchandise to browse. It's the website you would design for yourself.

May be able to get some good product at a good price. Unfortunately, basically non existent customer service and listings are wrong so often it's hard to make purchases. Have little faith if I buy something nonreturnable it will be close to what was on listing. I bought a size large sweater in this instance. When it arrived it was XS and clearly labeled. I went to great lengths to alert multiple people that it was XS when I returned in store so it could get fixed. So I see now that it was relisted just as it was before. No adjustments. Have to buy multiple items in hopes you get one right. The company has clearly gotten too big and people working there don't seem to care.

Two (expensive) items I purchased never arrived. It took several weeks for TRR to tell me that they would simply not arrive (without any explanation as to why), and there was not even an offer of a store credit to compensate me for the time wasted. That was disappointing

BUYER BEWARE OF HONESTY ISSUES & TIME RESOLVING PROBLEMS: when things go wrong, as they sometimes do, it is important how the mistake is handled. Customer service used to have long wait times but the representatives were polite and able to solve the problem. NOW the wait times are still long but the remote reps are totally inept with supervisors that are "unavailable" & they do not return calls as promised.
In my case the warehouse failed to include all items listed on the box's inventory list. The remote based representative would only tell me that she would file with UPS and they would have to pay. Explaining that the box was delivered in good condition and that UPS was not at fault didn't matter to her. That was her solution and she was sticking to it. Pointing out the dishonesty in deflecting onto UPS to pay when clearly it was a warehouse error only generated the same response. Foolish me, I asked for a supervisor thinking she could easily solve this simple issue. A supervisor refused my call saying she would call back within 2 hours but did not.
IT TOOK 7 CALLS BETWEEN 8 AM-2:30 PM to get a US based rep. She immediately understood the issue and sent the warehouse a note to "search". EASY PEEZY TROUBLE SHOOTING! It seems to me that customer service no longer matters at TRR. I can't say whether it's cost cutting measures or greed but there are defiantly customer service issues. As a customer and consignor the inconvenience is a big issue but the honesty factor raises yet another concern. If they are dishonest with UPS then how about us as buyers or sellers? Then of course there is the internal TRR issue of the warehouse not including what I paid for.
Basically, when things go as they should I would give TRR a 5* but when they are not perfect, as life often is, then the customer is in for a roller coaster ride. TREAD CAREFULLY.
I gave a 3* because my experience with the order number referenced on this survey was a 5* but other orders have been a 1*. Since surveys are rare I am including an honest broad response. I hate doing this but TRR has changed and not for the better.

My most recent orders have presented problems from shipping being delayed as long as 16 days to actually receiving a shoe that was completely busted out in the back. Customer service is still pretty good which is why I continue to come back but I do question if it's worth it sometimes. There are so many resale shops that offer really good product. I have been shopping more with other sites to compare experiences

Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,

Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
