If I could give zero stars and a middle finger I would! These people sent me a plastic Louis Vuitton bag (red Epi Noe). It had a horrible smell, like weird new plastic from another country (perhaps China) a fake date code etc. I called them to complain and Norma treated me as if I was lying and also hung up on me after she went back and forth with me about a fake, plastic bag. I stated their own policy to her and reminded her of the law on counterfeit items. I asked for a supervisor, told me everyone was busy with other callers. So, needless to say I had to call back and this time I got Rosalie. She was just as rude but did a quick return label for me because I'm sure she did not want the same conversation Norman had with me. I have NEVER received such awful customer service in my life. By, the way it took 3 weeks to issue refund even though I used their own label. Stay away from this company. Spend your money somewhere else, they are sending out fake bags in hopes that the consumer will not know real from fake. Fortunately, I did because I own quite a few authentic bags. I was trying to do something different by purchasing used authentic but touche, this is not for me. It has really scarred me! From receiving the God awful purse and to cruel treatment of the customer service reps. I will stick to going to the mall or designer boutiques!
Been waiting over 3 weeks for a refund of an item that was never shipped.
I decided to try The Real Real to help clean out my closet. I also have worked with Yoogis, Fashionphile and a few others. The RealReal to me is one step before giving things away to Goodwill.
When you sign up for the first time, a sign up rep will email you to help you with questions. The person I got was sloppy only answering half the questions (even when I made it easy for her to answer giving bullet points/numbering them) and not very clearly. She also stopped answering once I sent the items in. If you do want to try them, I recommend properly reading through the seller terms - the site is definitely pro-buyer.
I submitted 10 items for my first try, most were new, some with tags. They will still only list it as "Very Good" with signs of wear - which they also used to describe a bag that was used a few times. The sign-up rep will also suggest you look through the website to get a sense of what types of prices your items will be listed for (common sense), but what she does not tell you is that when it goes on sale, it might immediately be applicable for a 20% coupon or whatever sale they are doing. If you want your items returned/they're not accepted, there are fees you will have to pay. They also put up one of my dresses backwards on the mannequin - when I emailed customer service about this they did not reply.
Again - I would say this is a good last step and easy place to send your designer items if they are going to Goodwill anyway. But for things that have value, I've had a great experience with both Fashionphile and Yoogis which both have better consignment terms (better prices, lower fees, sometimes offering buyout). I recommend you try those first. I think most people have an inflated idea of what their second hand items are worth, but I do also think that The RealReal prices below those prices as they are incentivised to move things quickly. And their customer service towards consigners need improvement - without consigners, they do not have a business, so they should value the relationships. But if you want something quick and easy and don't expect much out of it, The RealReal might be for you.
I consigned a number of items with them and was beyond disappointed with the turnout. 2 examples: I consigned a $2300. 00 Gucci jacket with them that still had the price tag on it. They sold it for $137.00! I lost my mind! I called and pulled my husband's clothing and ironically, all the items sold that same day so I never got them back - just pennies.
I bought three pairs of Louboutin's. They described the condition as very good but wen they came, they were in excellent condition. So far I have had positive experiences. I don't want to deal with eBay. I'm afraid of the whole is it real and I find eBay too expensive.
I've consigned several items and have had good results overall. I love "treasure hunting" at resale stores and turning these items into cash. My first sale with The Real Real was an Hermes cashmere scarf that cost me $4. They sold it for $695. My cut was $417. Needless to say I was thrilled. Much easier than selling myself on eBay.
I had to update my review as I have ordered from TRR 8 times now. Order #1: wrong measurements listed making me believe I would actually fit into a size 2 based on what the listed - nope measurements were all wrong. Got my refund and a $25 credit for their mistake, plus shipping refunded. #2: dress had pen mark on it, but I did not catch it until days later and tag removed. Note: always investigate items immediately upon arrival. #4: shoes listed as 8 but were really a 6.5. They refunded me and I asked for shipping refunding too which they did eventually. #3, 5, 6, 7, 8: all no issues. 63% success rate and last 4 orders were flawless - so maybe they got some issues worked out. I will continue to shop there but wait for my $25 random credit plus the daily 20% off or the sale items. Note returns are not free if it doesn't fit.
I have ordered several items and consigned with them once. The process was seamless. All of the items I received were exactly as described, and they ship faster than amazon.
Hi everyone,
If you are in the market for Chanel jewelry, please buy at the Chanel boutique or a department store that sells Chanel. I own many Chanel jewelry pieces and the real real prices are above retail prices. I am not talking about a few dollars, they are several hundred dollars more which is ridiculous for 2nd hand Chanel jewelry.
I bought two pairs, my first order with them and they sent me two pairs, one correctly ordered and one incorrect. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Communication is terrible. Really hopeless. Less spam trying to sell us things and more customer service ensuring that we receive what we actually ordered might help! Really annoyed! Buyers beware!
I gave my items to your agent two weeks ago she assured me she would overnight my items to NYC. I have not heard from her since and my items still are not posted. I have not gotten email giving me the prices for my items. Her name Maria Mendoza.
I ordered a LV bucket shoulder bag. I thinkTherealreal.com camuflages the pictures or does not put the true pictures of the items nor do they disclose the true condition od the item. The purse I bought looks so old and worn out, it is a shame. And with no returns and final sale disclosure, you are pretty much stuck with what you got.
Purchased several times from TheRealReal paid $11.95 sometimes $20 for shipping each time. Received items that either had holes in them, stains, or just looked like junk yet were listed as "Very Good Condition" or "general wear." I've complained several times and was told that they do have a quality control staff. I don't believe them. Worse, after I've returned the items and they relist these, they don't mention any of the damages I've found. You really need to inspect the merchandise you buy from these people THOROUGHLY! BUYER BEWARE!
Finally, their refund process is VERY SLOW! Expect to wait about A MONTH before you get your money back! THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU PURCHASE FROM THEM!
I consign my sneakers that I bought off 1995, they put it on their site for 1495 since I wore my sneakers a few times but it still look fairly new, anyway they told me they sell it for 1196... But for some reason they only gave me 717, I'm appalled on how they come up with these numbers...
We have been a seller for Real Real for years and they lost 4 of my items on shipping them back to me with the wrong address. They claim that Fed Ex delivered to me at a wrong address they sent to. We are out the items and they dont care at all. If they treat a big volumne store like me, how do you think they will treat you?
Horrible customer service. Received a chanel purse that I paid over $3000 not as described online. The bag was about 1 inch and half shorter in length comparing to their web site description. Called the customer service and requested my refund otherwise I mentioned that I would dispute the charge. They did refund me the amount but they canceled my account claiming that they don't want to have clients that will make threats of dispute. Rude, unprofessional customer service. Never again!
I'm happy with my first purchase at TRR, I'm from Australia, i got my item within 2 weeks via Fedex express, fully tracked and fast shipping. Customer service is helpful, they reply me in next day, and meet my require.
But, two things i'm not very satisfy are the bag had strong chemical smell and the photos show on the TRR website hide a hole on the inside of bag flap, because it was hiding from outside of bag, so i feel okay with it.
My Husband reached out on my behalf as I have many Designer Merchandise that I haven't worn, still with tags, in boxes or worn once. They reached out to me via email and an appointment was set up for Thursday, September 10th by Lisa Aidoo with Lindsey Ratner. After spending quite a bit of time on their acceptable list of Designers they accept, I spent a good amount of time preparing for this appointment that was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Shocked to have received an email after 9:00 a.m. the day of said appointment asking to reschedule for the next day and when I wrote back that I had a conflict and wouldn't be available, Lindsey than informed me she was on the opposite side of the State and could still make it, however I copied Lisa Aidoo on all correspondence and she wrote me back saying there was a scheduling conflict. Surprised they just realized 4 hours before the appointment. Waste of time to schedule appointments with this Company as run extremely unprofessional and disrespectful of one's time. My recommendation would be to consign with other services, on-line apps, and if your shopping, shop else where. Cannot be bothered by Companies so poorly run with individuals not aware of their schedule.
I've been shopping on TheRealReal for so many years that I despise going into a store now. It's the best, pressure-free shopping experience online. You'll find everything from jewelry, shoes and luggage to furniture, handbags and atelier. If they start selling food, I'll never leave my house.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
