Hi I have been a consignee with The Real Real and a buyer and I have had disappointing response time from the person handling my consignments.
And I have continuously had issues with items being sent back to the wrong address. And items were lost etc.
Several times I have had items posted that weren't properly described, which negatively affected the asking price. For example, items that still had tags were posted as "used" and sold for much lower than they should have. Also, high value jewelry items posted without my giving price approval. They have so far done the right thing in these situations.
I am an avid shopper of resale and consignment since forever. Compared to the other online and local resale shops, For me, The Real Real offers a collective of nice quality products and excellent customer service! Thank you for being the selective 'go to' source for all my shopping needs! Love love love TRR!
As always, theRealReal is great at proving that companies are still human. When I have questions about purchasing or consigning, a real person gets back to me. When my coupon expired before I was able to use it, they extended the availability so I could use it. Previously, an item I purchased was not actually in inventory, so they credited my card for the amount and gave me a credit as an apology. Plus, every time I go to consign in person, I get real honest information that doesn't feel like they're just trying to make money.
Seems like every time items are shipped from N Jersey it's a bad experince. They take longer than anyone to ship or have trouble finding items... as por TRR customer service: I give Julian a bad grade. He insisted in using his headphone despite the bad connection. Also he was not helpful in giving information. Bothe Juan and Luisa were very good and deserve a high grade.
1- need better descriptions of items, especially with flaws or alterations in clothing Several. Times now i have purchased garments whose zippers didn't work, altered in length or a piece of the inner corset was shortened or whose buttons popped out.
2- need better photos of garments on mannequin.

I understand times are strange with Covid-19 restrictions, but to not have a drop off window for returns seems silly. I had to wait an hour to be texted to come wait in line for another 20 minutes so drop off a return—as was the case with at least half the line. It seems someone could have walked out side, scanned the item or just taken the package, and it would have made the wait time shorter for everyone, mostly for customers actually interested in shopping
I called and waited on hold for hours, emailed and it is very difficult to get through a huge waste of time. My item was supposed to new/tags/pristine and it was not. The service representative told me to get an estimate to fix and i would be refunded that amt and when i did she changed and only a partially refunded. Such a huge hassle it deterred me from future purchases.
Great merchandise and great prices with easy returns
My purchasing experience was good, but I really wanted to simply give a review of my experience consigning with the assistance of Allyson Gilbert, a "Luxury Account Executive" with The Real Real. She was very helpful and assisted me in consigning a NWT dress by a designer not on the pre-approved list.
Realreal is my go to online shop to buy stylish affordable designer shoes and handbags. This site is absolutely recommended!
The process is always easy, like Buffalo exchange or beacons for grown ups. Great offering and easy consigning process.
The length of time from completing an order until receipt of your purchased item(s) is absurdly long. For example, I placed 2 orders on February 19,2021 and expect to receive them today, March 1st. In 2021, this is laughably too long. Every other online retailer from whom I order (and it's a lot) has figured out how to engage customers to receive their items within a few days. TheRealReal needs help in this area. Quickly.

I'm so thrilled that this site exists as it makes the whole shopping experience so simple. And I love the selection of stuff. It's a much better experience than in store shopping as you see thousands of items all in one place and you can shop according to your budget and only look at those specific items. In store you have to search through each rack to see if you find something you like that's in your price point.
I'm a black belt online shopper and this site is amazing. I only wish there was a way to further customize my feed. And I would love push notifications for when a new item from one of my favorite brands hits the site.
Shoes are not the correct size and they want me to consign them back when just need to make a refund. I am extremely disappointed and do not come back. And it is not right at all.
1) Overall I like TRR website. However, when I browsed through the web, website kept asking me to confirm that I was not a robot, which was annoying.
2) Most of the descriptions were accurate. From time to time, I found that some descriptions overrated the items and occasionally missed some important details, such as personal monogram, etc.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!

Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
