I just get a standard answer where the matter will be relayed to someone else... nothing ever happens
I bought a fur coat from Givenchy and paid over $6 grand for it! When I consigned it with the RR they priced it $700 and put it on sale immediately for $ 575 or something like that! I was furious and very disappointed and told my luxury manager to change the price but the coat was sold right away and the management didn't even care to listen to their own manager to change the price! From now on I will only buy from them, no more consignment!
Felt rushed with the deciding with the clock running
Internet pictures are hard to tell sometimes that's why I wish you could return handbags! I'm going to co-sign them back and see how that process goes :( I will update review then!
Most thing I have ordered have been close in sizing but a pair of shorts was oversized by at least 2 sizes. Now I have to pay the expensive return shipping fee, plus the original shipping fee. Makes me second guess ordering much more
Over the past few years buying from The The Real Real, I found beautiful pieces. However, often times I encountered issues that led to my dissatisfaction. This happened because either the images published were limited, not covering all the details, or the written descriptions were incomplete, lacking important details. Also, some used items had stale, musty, or unpleasant odors (both with bags and clothing items) that should have been disclosed and weren't.
As a Seller, I found that despite all the compelling advertising I receive to sell my luxury items with The Real Real, it hasn't been really worth it for me. I received VERY LITTLE even for items I previously bought from them and haven't used :(
As the enclosed invoice only indicated original prices, not the discounted prices, I had to pay 30-40% higher import tax per item purchased.
Love TRR, but wish they didn't charge shipping costs for returns. I would be inclined to buy more if I wasn't charged $12 for each return. Especially with second hand and so many different sizes for each designer, we really need to be able to try on the clothes.
I've been shopping at TRR for several years now. Their product is as described. I have had an issues only once and the company rectified it.
I've had such a good experience buying clothes with The RealReal! I've been shopping with them for over two years on a regular basis. My items are always sent quickly and I have only had to return a couple of items out of many, many items I have bought, which was always handled easily and smoothly. The RealReal has such a wide variety of beautiful, special clothes, and it's wonderful how the prices will gradually go down on the items you love the most, until they are affordable (if nobody else buys them before you get the chance). The RealReal is my favorite place to shop! I treasure the quality clothing I have bought from them.
The carrier charged me an extra handling fee of $ 46.-. Makes for an expensive outfit, since I already paid $40.- shipping fee!
The items are lovely.
• The photo clearly shows an hourglass shaped dress but the measurements are 18-24-32. Is this the first time you've ever seen a dress? Are you just trying to guess and hope for the best? Is there a tape measure shortage? If they're not giving you tape measures, please let me know because I'll personally bring you a tape measure. It's not difficult to use and it gets the right answer every time.
• Size is listed on the tag and somehow you still get it wrong. I can't even...
• Size can also be determined from the measurements, but only if you do the measurements correctly! Why do I have to guess at the size based on how it's sitting on the mannequin? That's how poorly trained your intake staff are... I'd literally rather assume everything is wrong and guess based on how the mannequin is wearing it. Because I know at least all the mannequins are the same size.
• 100% Silk means that the dress is silk. Not that the silk part of it is 100% silk and the suede part is 100% suede. This is really basic stuff, people. Most companies don't let this level of incompetence to be shown to the public but it's extremely obvious everywhere you look when things are just wrong.
• There's a fundamental mistake somewhere when it has been decided that the person who writes the copy text doesn't even see the garment and just writes the description based on a photo. I can see the photo too! I don't need you to describe it, I have eyes and I see the photo... tell me about what I can't see from the photos. And at least get the color right... gray and brown are not the same color and i've literally never seen anyone get the two mixed up.
• From the consignment intake people to the photographers and straight up to management... there is just so much incompetence and miscommunication that it's hilarious. The problem is that the customer has to pay for that and not the people responsible for making it that way.
Ordered an item and added another item to split the postage. Then a few days later was told that the original items was 'unavailable', offered $35 site credit. Tired to cancel the whole order but told too late. Had to pay the entire postage for a single item that l would not have ordered on its own. Tried to email RR but nothing, tried again - nothing. Eventually over a week later they came back to me gave me a proforma response. Needless to say l will not be ordering again
Able to find great pieces if you're willing to put in time everyday to look. First come, first serve. Love the payment plan. Customer service however, needs to be better. I've called and whomever handles the customers via phone, sounds like they hate life. No social skills at all. And the sad part is it's always someone different, yet they all seem like they'd rather be doing something else. They don't follow up via emails, so calling is the best option...
Called regarding about delivered - missing items. Rep. Asked to sent a photo and I did. But I haven't heard back - still waiting and Not resolved yet
I bought three bags, two of which had very similar (nearly identical) dimensions listed. When I received them, however, they were noticeably different in size. One had a height listed of 19", the other 18.75", and one looks like a suitcase, the other looks like a normal tote. Even weirder, the one with the larger dimensions is the one closest to a normal tote size. I'm not sure how "expertly verified" something can be, because the two bags look drastically different, yet their listed measurements were nearly identical. I think maybe The RealReal needs to have some sort of training for how to measure bags correctly. Now I'm stuck with two bags that likely won't get much use, and they're not returnable.
I referred Someone and I asked to get the cash instead of the real real credit. I was given the credit by accident in which they said they will reverse it. One month later they respond they can not reverse it and I will Have to use as a credit. Really annoying. To top it off I purchased some items that were not returnable and didn't fit. Not a happy camper about this.
I bought a skirt Iro, when I got it, the elastic waist band was completely stretched out, it was very obvious. I sent it back and it's back up on the website. They wouldn't take a shirt of mine to sell because it had a teeny spot on the inside but they'll take a skirt with a stretched out elastic waist. They also posted 2 of my items as the wrong brand. I have brought it to their attention 2x but still nothing. Been alittle sloppy these days.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
