I hired gentlemen to help me place the sunshade, which was assembled already just need 2 people to place the top part, I didn't mind paying for the full hr even if it takes him 5 min to do the task. And yes I read all reviews before, so to have some peace of mind I asked the gentleman to please have any of his ID with the picture before I let someone that I hire on the internet in my home. He cancels on me, saying he doesn't feel comfortable with showing his ID...and I should feel comfortable? Nah, thanks, I prefer to throw that sun sade in the trash. Better be safe than sorry.
I will NEVER use this service again! Waited an entire day for this guy to show up only to find that he would be three hours late and then when he arrived, he decided he didn't 'feel safe' because I was annoyed that he didn't bring the ladder that was needede. Seriously?
I have used taskrabbit a few times; the last time I had a successful experience with taskrabbit was 2020; I have tried them twice since then and have found they have the most unreliable people assigned to their website; nobody shows up; you get a last minute notification that no one is coming and now I have to be sure I am not charged on my credit card for these lazy oafs they have on their website; it's gotta be a better way to get some assistance for household taks without this b/s of a service; this company should really go out of business; they are not needed and they're 100% a complete waste of time; i booked this saturday appointment days in advance and modified my schedule to be here only to get a b/s message that no one is coming; again, dissatisfied and a complete, utter waste of time
Paolo B., a Tasker who helps with moving, confirmed with us several times in the days leading up to our task. He was scheduled to help us move our things out of storage. HE CANCELLED AN HOUR BEFORE he was scheduled to meet us. Too late to hire anyone else. No one else was available. Paolo didn't even have the courtesy to let us know directly. We found out through an email from TaskRabbit. Would not trust using this service. Really disappointing.
2 weeks ago I had a simple but necessary yard task that I could not do myself due to an injury- so, I tried task rabbit. The first "tasker" cancelled and rescheduled- and on the rescheduled day completely ghosted me. And the app doesn't let you leave a review for someone who just doesn't ahow up. Tasker 2 changed the start time at the last minute, I agreed, then an hour after he was supposed to show he ended up texting to say his car had been hit while parked and he had to "deal with it". He was at least
Communicative. I Cancelled.
Tasker 3 (last chance, tasker) is due this morning… after today, regardless of whether someone shows up, I am deleting task rabbit.
Oh- and … They add a 40% "service and safety fee" fee to the taskers fee- for what service? For whose saftey?!? I guess they deserve at least one star o have launched a useless app with no customer support and less than 25% reliability (in my experience) where they make a ton of passive income off of other people's labor (if they ever show up)!
The first person I hired for a simple job canceled the day before he was to help, which set me back a day. Then the second one canceled too; another day lost. Does this ridiculous company think I'm going to try a third time? Hah! I'll do it myself.
I've tried twice to book someone to come to my home and mow my lawn. It's an acre property, and I have all of the equipment someone would need, so this should be a very straightforward task. Both times I've attempted to book this service, the tasker has canceled without any explanation. The second incident happened today, 2 minutes before he was expected to arrive.
Task Rabbit needs to provide assurance to the people doing the hiring that the person they have committed to pay is actually qualified for the job and will show up. Otherwise this is just a massive waste of time.
I needed some tree debris raked up from my small (< 3000 SF =) yard and new pea gravel spread on a few areas that aren't covered with house, concrete, deck or pavers.
The first person I tried to schedule on TaskRabbit had advertised an hourly rate that was OK, but then tried to switch to a flat rate that far exceeded their hourly rate for 2-3 hours' work.
Nope.
The next "tasker" I contacted agreed (last week) to be here at 1 pm today. So, first thing this morning, as planned I rented a trailer and purchased a load of gravel. AFTER I returned home with the gravel in the rented trailer attached to my SUV, I got a message from the tasker asking if we could delay the start time because they are on a job until 2 pm today; also they wanted to bring another helper. I replied I was OK with that as long as the trailer is emptied so I can return it before 6 pm, and as long as his change in plans does not change the agreed-upon hourly rate.
So... 3 pm and they still aren't here. I messaged again, asking for the new ETA, and was told it would be 4:15 pm. Then, at 4 pm I got another message in which the "tasker" was complaining of traffic delays but would do "everything in his power" to unload the gravel so I could still keep my commitment to return the rented trailer.
In my world, 3+ hours late is a no-show, so at 4:15 pm I cancelled, then received an email advising that Taskrabbit is charging me $56 for cancelling less than 24 hours in advance! On top of that, I still have to find someone else to do the work AND pay another day's rental for the trailer, which is still full of gravel and attached to my vehicle, so I cancelled my dinner plans with friends this evening too.
If I could leave a review with zero stars I would.
Terrible experience! I hired someone to re caulk a shower he was an hour late and after he did the job literally the next day the caulk started to come apart. I was also told $45 an hour and after some "task fee" of $95 a 2 hour job cost $220. I reached out to the company about the job not being done correct and no help at all, they asked if I wanted to hire someone else! I called my CC and disputed the whole thing. I will never use this company again!
My first time booking a Tasker, the guy cancelled that morning, said his car was in the shop. Gave him benefit of the doubt, and we rebooked. He was also very prompt in response at first, so I was willing to be flexible. The day he was supposed to arrive, he never showed without any communication. No way to get a hold of anybody to help. There is way to "phone" the tasker but they don't need to pick up. AND there is no way to RATE your tasker if they never show. Thus, everyone looks like they are doing a fabulous job - 4.5-5 stars for all! It was a waste of time for us, and I will never use this service again. Allow the customer to honestly rate the tasker from beginning to end- otherwise the reviews are not credible.
My first experience was great. Second experience resulted in the guy asking me last Minute if he needed two people for a job that had been described to him in detail….then telling me the second person would be double the cost. Unreal! He knew exactly what needed to be done and waited until an hour before the job to try and charge me double. No thank you. Sad to say they have lost my trust
Overall, it's a good concept, but I've probably used this app for the last time. In the olden days, their "trust and support fee" was very fair and reasonable. But now it's like 35%. Customer service is seldomly an option. You have to write an email, but they're difficult to get in touch and rarely respond to inquiries when you need help or an answer. Using the chat rarely gets you live help and sometimes they respond to emails and sometimes they don't. Like I contacted them 4 times and they only answered the first time. There is no phone number. I think 35% for a platform with such poor customer service, is unreasonable - especially given their biggest job is computers processing payments and them just deducting more fees. I hired someone to help move some furniture. The labor for this last job was roughly $70. There was a truck rental fee for $87. The service fee on the $70 labor was $28, so with the fees it totaled $191. The fees are just on the labor (I think?) But the real kicker was when I tried to send a tip the only way to do it is to choose from 5 options: no tip, 10%, 15%, 20% or 25%, ON THE TOTAL! Why no custom percentage and no custom dollar amount options? I was happy to tip 20% or even more, for the labor/Tasker, but not on the Taskrabbit service fees (obviously Taskrabbit thinks they deserve this tip) and a tip on the truck rental. The "help" section says "Taskers receive 100% of their tips" which probably means that Taskrabbit must keep the tip on their service fee and probably on the expenses and taskers probably just get the tip on the labor. I find this abominable and utterly lacking in integrity. What a massive scam. I highly recommend you look elsewhere or make sure if you use them, to tip the tasker directly with cash to avoid such ridiculousness.
IF YOU USE TASKRABBIT, or are thinking of using the service:
1. READ THE TASKRABBIT "HAPPINESS PLEDGE" WORD FOR WORD before you do - don't forget to read between the lines, too.
2. Discard any expectation that if something goes wrong associated with the task you've hired for, your claim will be taken seriously or that any reasonable compensation will be offered to right the wrong.
3. Explore their online ratings and read about people's experiences with the service - many of them mirror mine.
4. Vet your tasker to the best of your ability, and read their profile and ratings very carefully.
5. Closely supervise your tasker while they're on the job - they might be the ones doing the work, but YOU are the one who will be held financially responsible for any damage they do. In my case, a job that should have cost me $150 all-in instead cost me $1,500 in repairs and three weeks of my time - and the tasker didn't even complete the original job I hired them for (rather, left me with the original problem + added some on top for good measure). Despite submitting all the required supporting documentation to evidence my claim, Taskrabbit's first and final compensatory offer was $100 reimbursement and $228.79 (the amount I paid for the task + their "happiness pledge" fee you pay to receive no happiness) credit toward future financial bloodlettings on their app.
The company didn't show up, and tried to blame IKEA for not confirming an order, even though we had the order confirmation. Online support is horrible, finally found a number, and the support wouldn't do anything about it. Terrible company and service.
Just had a job completed the worker was EXCELLENT but when I got bill was more than expected... they charge the fee per hour I thought per job they have no problem putting the fee up front BUT the fine print "per hour" on the last page. I will NOT use task rabbit ever again
I hired this fellow Taylor Corbit off of TaskRabbit to do some minor fix-it work, garden work and moving soil and rock to my back yard, from the driveway.
He did the first half with no problem but because he didn't have a wheelbarrow, I offered to invest in his hard work and swing for a good wheelbarrow. $300.00 One half he would work off finishing moving the dirt and rock to my back yard. He agreed, shook on it and he was to return the next Sunday.
No call no show. I called and he gave me a sob story about his dog dying at the vets. I bought it...I had a beloved pet who died too and it was traumatic. Benefit of the doubt; I said stay home, take care of what you need to do and I would see him the next Sunday. Only it was Easter...so once again I said spend time with your family and he agreed to show up this Tuesday 4/11/23.
NO Show. Ghosted. Called TaskRabbit...no help.
I am a recently widowed elder; my husband and I worked remodeling and landscaping for 30 years. We made part cash and part trades for equipment all the time with no problems. WE KEPT OUR WORD. Not today; people blow you off as a sucker for helping them succeed.
Well never again. It's a lot of garden soil and rock to be moved. I will do it 4 buckets a day until it is all out of my driveway. Slow, but at least no one else will rip me off.
I hired a person from taskrabbit.com to help move my daughter and he damage furniture and broke the television. They asked for proof and I sent over 7 pictures. The pictures were not sufficient and they took 360.00 for moving an efficiency no appliance. Broke a new television and said it was resolved and nothing they could do for me. I would understand if they would have at least made some kind of adjustment.
Had a child's bunkbed to be assembled and taskrabbit assign someone and he had little knowledge on how to assembled the bed. Took 6 hrs to put bed togather. Their site say 2.5 hrs. Called and they credit 2hrs. Still the gave him 4.5 hrs to do a child's bed. He was not qualified to do the job i had to help in the process. 3hrs is all he should get paid for. They will not give another credit of 1 hrs I will never use them again.

Omer came today to put together IKEA cupboards
/pantries.
He was very polite, worked hard and with competence. I am very pleased with the results, and will certainly use his services again.
Answer: Mine responded and loved to chat. At the end, he cancelled the appointment. What a waste of time. Very disappointing.
