STAY AWAY FROM SWAPPA
January 24, 2019

Very unhappy with Best Price Gadgets and how the situation was handled. Phone was NOT in mint condition and didn't come with a working charger like stated on the original listing. Also, came in padded envelope and had scratches on screen. Issues with tracking since it was dropped in dropbox. When bringing it up to seller, seller didn't listen and refused to issue refund over $15. Very unhappy, wouldn't recommend. Swappa customer service took down my rating because the buyer complained. I am absolutely done with Swappa, was referred by a friend whom will also no longer be shopping. If my rating is taken down there, I am going to find as many websites to get the word out not for my benefit, but to warn others that Swappa doesn't have your back. I got scammed to say the least. Shame on my for not going through eBay.

Stephanie, if the phone you received wasn't the same as how it was described in the listing, you are eligible for a full refund. Our support team can walk you through this process - if you haven't already, email them at [email protected]. If your review was removed, it was because it didn't follow our policies. We don't moderate the feedback that buyers leave for sellers unless the content in the feedback is abusive or inappropriate.

I sold a phone and the transaction went smoothly. Shipped it out and buyer received it. Buyer made a comment saying that it was received exactly how I advertised it and that he was able to activate it on his network without any issues. Fast forward 30 plus days and he makes a comment on the listing stating that the screen had fallen off. Ok. My thought is it is over 30 days and the transaction was done and you stated it was working for you. I wait to see what Swappa will say and then a few days later, they tell him to file a dispute for a refund. What? I comment and they say that I never responded and I explained why. So if you sell a phone on this site, you are expected to provide service to the buyer regardless of how long it has been. I have never heard of anything like this. There is nothing on the website that says this by the way. You're expected to talk to the seller in the beginning until the device is in their hands and confirmed working, which I did. There is a comment from them on this very site stating that. So I followed there rules and they still told the guy to file a dispute with Paypal. Even though it is clear by simply reading his comments that the phone broke while he was using it. Not before.

I'm obviously never using this site again and will make sure no one else that I know uses it either.

Hi Kevin, if you sold a phone that was not the same as your listing, the buyer is protected under PayPal for up to 180 days (not for an endless amount of time as you state in your review). This is listed on PayPal's website on their safety page: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/paypal-safety-and-security Since the buyer had issues with the device within 30 days, that is within PayPal's 180 day window, and they are able to file a dispute with PayPal. If the device you sold matched the listing, PayPal should recognize that and the buyer will not be refunded. These policies exist to protect both our buyers and sellers.

List a phone. Collect the money and of the go shopping. Below is a picture of a "Mint" Iphone sent to me after I paid $200 for it. The seller stole my money and ripped off the shipper collecting insurance for a phone already broken when he put it in the box. Jon H. Is his name on the site. The Swappa people told me to go blow!

Mark, as you've stated in your communication with us, you've used Swappa several times before without issues. We review every listing to help ensure products are working and they are accurately described. In rare cases, devices are sold in a condition that is different than how they were described - this is why we partner with PayPal, so you are able to get your money back. Our support team is available to guide you through that process. We try to make this process clear to all users before they buy or sell a device. If you have additional questions, email our support team [email protected].

Not for the seller.
November 21, 2018

High fees, usually $10-15 not including paypal and you pay shipping. The customer must "confirm" that they have received their phone before you can be approved for another one, despite the fact that shipping information is listed in the site. So if the buyer never gets around to verifying it, you won't be approved to list another product.

Rose, if you compare our fees against eBay or similar marketplaces, you'll find Swappa has the lowest. The seller is responsible for the device until it is in the hands of the buyer, when it is then up to the buyer to confirm they received the device. This policy helps protect our buyers and our sellers, and is an important step in ensuring the device has been shipped successfully.

You might as well be buying from craigslist here the amount of support you get when something goes south its like you are on your own but dont you dare claim the $10 dollar fee you pay for buying from this website. Other than that yea would not recommend this website at all.

Trish, our support team typically responds to messages within a few hours or less, and they are available 24/7/365. Our fees are lower than just about any other marketplace like us and we are proud to provide a safe alternative to Craigslist.

Justin, you are responsible for providing the correct address so the seller can ship it to the right place. If the device was lost in transit, or if it was shipped to the wrong address as an error, the seller is responsible to fix the error and ship the device to the right address. When the seller ships the device to the address you provided on PayPal, and USPS says it has been delivered, it is up to you to pick up the device. We hope you understand this policy.

November 8, 2018

I was looking through the laptops here and the prices seemed really good so I tried my luck and so far it is serving me quite well, only had some occasional minor scratches on the surface but that's to be expected and I'm not some perfectionist.

Trustworthy
November 4, 2018

Swappa is trying to create a quick and easy way to sell and purchase used devices and phones. Someone mentioned this website to me about a year ago, but I couldn't decide on what phone I wanted when my yearly upgrade time came. I didn't want to trade in my Galaxy S7 as I wanted to keep it as a car diagnostic tool that stays in my vehicle.

If I were to purchase the phone on a contract through AT&T it would cost me a total of $915, but I went through Swappa and bought a mint condition phone for $550. Of course it doesn't come in a nice box or with brand new accessories, but that's fine because I use my own headphones and cables and don't usually like the packaged stuff.

The seller I purchased from said the device was in mint condition and it was. The S9+ came in a case with a screen protector, wrapped in a bubble wrap envelope folder over itself inside of a USPS box. I purchased on a Sunday, he shipped on Monday, and I had my device by the afternoon on Thursday.

I backed up my old phone, transferred my data to the new phone, popped in my SIM card, and AT&T recognized my device. I have full functionality including Wi-Fi calling and texting. I never went into a store or called anyone to get my device working. It was great!

I saved over $350 for what is essentially a brand new phone and couldn't feel better about it.

We've purchased now a couple of times from Swappa and can't be more happy to have had dealt with the sellers on this site! We found out about Swappa from my brother who has had great experiences as well. I highly recommend Swappa to purchase with confidence used items in excellent to fair condition (you choose the condition you would be happy with) and you get exactly what you ordered from experienced power sellers with great customer service!

Created my account to sell a game, followed all of the procedures and even connected my 100% positive feedback eBay account to it and the next day my account gets banned because my account was similar to a fraudulent account. I literally did nothing wrong because my account looked like a fraud account. So long story short don't waste your time. Your account will get flagged and you will get banned

Hi Konnor, after further escalation and another review, we've decided to allow this single listing to be approved.

Please note that your account was shut down the second time due to some close similarities with another fraudulent user listing video games on our service, so we will have to limit your account to this single listing for the time being.

Thank you for understanding, and sorry for the extra hassle.

I sold a phone as described in "good" condition and uploaded photos based on Swappa's guidelines. The seller received it in a timely manner and a day later demanded a refund and posted pictures of a device that did not match the quality of the phone I sent. The he issued a debt collection through paypal. Swappa told me to accept the return, which may very well not be mine simply based on the photos they provided. This is contradictory because they allowed my device to be listed, but would not
Permit the buyer to list the phone on their site if he tries to sell it in "good" condition. Very deceitful and unprofessional of Swappa.

Alex, if the device was listed in good condition when it was actually in fair condition, then the seller is responsible to it list correctly. If the device was received in a condition that wasn't as described in the listing, then the seller is held responsible. For questions, please email our support team - [email protected].

I am in the process of replacing three family cell phones I originally bought new on Swappa almost five years ago. Just bought the first new replacement and figure I saved about $320. One down, two more to go. Before it's all over I will save almost $1,000 by buying my three family cell phones on Swappa. And, as a side benefit, by activating our Swappa phones with our cell phone service provider, I don't have to commit our family to that service provider's multi-year contract in order to get a discount. Overall, that's a pretty good deal for a little on line work! Maybe I've been lucky, but so far I purchased four new phones on Swappa without an issue.

I sold a phone on Swappa in September 2018. Shortly after the sale, the buyer demanded a refund and claimed that the phone was lost or stolen. Like most similar sites, Swappa checks phones to ensure they are whitelisted and available to activate before sale. Swappa provided NO support in communicating this to the buyer, and left me to spend hours on the phone and email over a period of weeks finding independent confirmation that the phone was not lost or stolen and that it was unlocked and ready to activate. I expended far more in time and energy doing that than what the phone was worth. Find another site to sell your phone that will provide actual support instead of throwing you to the unscrupulous dogs.

Hi David, the buyer has no reason to accuse anyone of selling a blacklisted phone, unless they had good reason to. Per our policy, if a device is received in an unusable state (e.g. Is blacklisted and/or cannot be activated) it must be returned and the seller is responsible for reimbursing the buyer. We're sorry if the device was able to be activated, and there was any confusion on the buyer's side. As you stated, at Swappa we check to see if phones are blacklisted, and this is communicated on our site in several different places.

A site that specifically states that each and every single one of their products has been vetted and met their criteria for sale, I was surprised to receive a product that does not in any way, shape or form meet up with what was listed on their website. And upon seeking further assistance from their "help"@swappa. Com, lol, I was met with a staff member that basically offered me nothing but excuses and poor attempts at trying to shy away from resolving my issue and here I am, still waiting for a resolution. So anyone hoping to make a purchase using their site, hope everything goes exactly as it should because if it doesn't, you're on your own. If you think the staff will be able to help, you are fooling yourself.
