I had a great experience using Swappa; I chose them versus eBay / Craigslist / Facebook Marketplace because they were specifically for tech and verify IMEI, etc. I was able to get a phone to replace one that bricked itself on me and I was confident during the process, as well as after when I followed the checklist they provide for evaluating a used phone. I would definitely purchase on Swappa again.

Paypal created a double order. Swappa staff was extremely fast at correcting the issue (cancellation and refund for one of the orders). Literally within minutes (on a Saturday, nonetheless) my double order was voided and the refund was processed. Amazing! First time Swappa user and I'm more than pleased! I was a bit hesitant about purchasing a used phone online, but Swappa's return policy and checkout via PayPal make this almost as easy as purchasing a new product. The Swappa customer service is also top notch. I somehow managed to put in the incorrect shipping address in PayPal and the Swappa staff responded almost immediately to help me sort it out. I will definitely be buying from Swappa again and will recommend this to my friends and family.

Great place to buy used and reconditioned phones. They really stand behind their product and are very responsive to questions for assistance. I had an issue with a phone I received and they were there 100% with me. I have bought a few phones on the site and would not hesitate to recommend them.

The restrictions are more onerous than other sites, it's better, since a human actually checks the condition of the phone in the pictures before allowing it to be listed for sale.

Swappa protects it's sellers not buyers. I purchased an iPhone from Swappa, a site that is supposed to be a "safe" place to purchase used devices. I was unable to activate the phone I received and the seller did not resolve the issue. Swappa asked the seller to resolve the matter, and when he did not Swappa asked me to send the iPhone back to the seller and once received the seller would process a refund. This is the same seller/person who fraudulently sold me an iPhone that could not be activated. I have filed a claim with PayPal and I am still awaiting a refund.

While it is impossible to avoid fraudsters online, Swappa does a great job of prevention through seller and purchaser identity validation. I've sold two MacBooks, two phones and an iPad on the website over the last two years. Each time they have sold at a fair price within 48 hours. While I don't have any experience purchasing anything, I highly recommend this site for selling tech.

They don't vet sellers, and don't seem helpful in dealing with the fraudulent ones. My account was closed for having a seller send me the wrong phone, blame me for ordering it, and ignore my requests for refund for a month until I disputed the transaction with PayPal. I asked swappa to discuss proper listing practices with the seller, and expressed relief to finally be done dealing with the as[s]hole. Without warning or explanation, the next time I went to look for the phone I need, I couldn't log in. Email response was dismissive, only saying that I was no longer allowed to use the site. Two more days of requesting information finally got an explanation, but still no concern for my experience with the fraudulent seller, or opportunity to find the phone I was looking for. So, understandably upset from my experience, I'm a jerk? And the jerk that sent me the wrong phone and screwed me around with my refund presumably gets not even a warning to properly list items in the future! And you pretended to be so helpful earlier, commenting privately on my review, acting like you wanted to help me resolve this... But now that you know who I am, a frustrated customer who, dispite my experience, actually came back to try and spend my money with you again, you're right back to dismissing me completely. It's no wonder I'm dissatisfied...

It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.

Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
