Sundance Catalog has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with some appreciating the aesthetic appeal of their products and catalog. However, a significant number of reviews highlight persistent issues regarding product quality, particularly discrepancies between advertised and received items. Customers frequently express frustration over delayed shipping, cumbersome return processes, and unresponsive customer service. Many report long wait times for refunds and inadequate support when problems arise. Overall, while the brand has a loyal customer base, the growing concerns about service reliability and product quality suggest a need for improvement in customer care and operational efficiency.

Have purchased a few items in the past and have been satisfied. However, in the most recent catalog, The Last Days of Summer 2020, that had 81 photos of models, I wondered how many of them were African-American, given that on one of the last pages of the catalog, was a quote from poet, Maya Angelou, who said, and I quote, "She said, 'I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision'". Sundance presents a lifestyle, and I had to think, how many of my family and friends who are African-American would see themselves in these image and whether this catalog reflects their lifestyle, for I could see items appealing to them. With an "open heart," I write this review and ask that you widen your customer focus and begin with whom you chose as your models.
I have ordered things from Sundance over the years and have been pleased with the purchases. I have never had to make a return until this past May 2020. Made a $350 purchase that did not work. Sent the package back with their label in mid-May. Called mid-June because no refund and was conveniently told they had not received the package but would get the refund processed by July 10th either way. July 10 came & went - no refund. Called today/July 16 and was told the package was received and that we needed to wait "a few days" for the refund. Really? It's been 45 days! She told us the package was received on July on 13th. Mail can be slow but not THAT slow. After seeing these other reviews, I will never order from Sundance again. There is enough stress going on in this world without adding undue stress caused by this business with horrible customer service and apparent liars.
When I got my top the fabric seemed very cheap and poor quality. Fabric was the same quality of tops I bought on the beach in Mexico or worse. After sending it back I realize they charged a fee to 'restock'. They are very over prized and poor quality.
I always love their catalogs, the stuff is just so nice looking. So Mother's Day rolls around and both my husband and my son placed orders for lots of stuff. Lucky me, right?
I got all the stuff, a couple pieces back ordered but ok. Well, the 2 pair of pants just fit differently. I got a M in Leila pants and it fit great but I wanted it just slightly loose since it's like a beach type pull on pants you cuff up. I decided to exchange it for a L. Ok so far. I also got a pair of khaki linen roll up pants in a 10, they were a little too loose, ok decided to exchange for an 8. When those exchanges came it was way off. The Large in Leia was smaller than the M that I returned! The 8 in the khakis was literally swimming on me, much larger than the 10 that I returned. I wound up having to return both for a refund. I had similar issues with the tops which I eventually kept once we went back and forth a few times (each time costing more shipping both ways sigh).
Husband bought me some pricey jewelry which I adored. The quality is awful. The blackened silver cannot be cleaned up with jewelry cleaner or a cloth and turns your neck black. The matching bracelet not so much. I no longer can wear it. I did get 6 wears out of it and compliments, but am not happy about that at all. It looks exactly like it did when I got it, but it just bleeds the blackening agent and nothing I can do stops it. I have so much silver, never had this issue, not sure it's genuine. I know a lot of artisan jewelry is not stamped, but never had these issues and never paid as much as he did either.
The earrings were fine.
I doubt I would order there again. $70 in shipping on pants that were inconsistent in sizing was a turn off. That kind of inconsistency is a flaw and should not cost the customer repeatedly. I did not complain, just won't order anymore.
Don't believe them when they say that typically your purchase should arrive in 1-2 days when ordering something online. In reality, it is 5-7 days! This is now the third time that this has happened when ordering from Sundance. You would think that as proud as they are about charging the prices they do, they could at least live up to their delivery promises!
No wonder they have such a poor rating. Sure wish that I would have checked out the reviews before purchasing! NEVER AGAIN!
Ordered a gift card, to be emailed. NO message permitted. $9.95 to process. What kind of ripoff is this? Almost $10 to email a gift card? Ridiculous, and I wouldn't do this but the recipient really likes the products.
Love the stores, but won't be purchasing online ever again. Charged me the wrong sales tax, then shipping, then shipping on returns. Ordered boots and a sweater that was not true to size & colors. I have to pay for their poor products. My mistake, never again.
Been waiting for return x 2 weeks. Expensive items- ridiculous. I still have not received refund! I have not had this bad of service with an online merchandiser ever.
THIS STORE IS A SCAM! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM! Customer service is TERRIBLE. They will not help you. I have been on the phone with them for hours and they will not give me my refund! DO NOT even bother.
Ordered a matching bracelet, earrings and necklace in January. The bracelet came and i love it! The earnings showed up weeks later and we're very disappointed in the quality and the color of the item. The earrings we're almost white and we're supposed to be a pale pink purity. This was all supposed to be a Valentine's present. Valentine's came and went still no necklace. We returned the earrings. Very cheaply made. Got a letter in the mail saying the necklace is expected end of February. Where are already into March and still no necklace. Last letter said maybe April. So we call the company and ask what is the hold up. Unfortunately they cannot guarantee any shipping date whatsoever. And unfortunately they do not care. When I told them I want to cancel the necklace and return the bracelet they told me I still had to pay the $8 return shipping fee. They wouldn't wave anything or even give me a discount on the necklace. Very poor policy for such a high-end catalog. Why would I order from Sundance again? I asked the supervisor that and she said "sorry" so we are not ordering from Sundance ever again, very poor policies. If I would have known this I would have never placed the order to begin with. It has cost me almost $20 to return two items. Goodbye Sundance
I got the Spice Route Pants. Sundance is pricey and shipping is pricey too. But I like the pants and you're not gonna see them all around.
LESS THAN 1 STAR! I'm an idiot. I PAID OVER $13 FOR SHIPPING. FOR A SCARF. It's been 10 days. Tracking info finally said it would be delivered today. Well, guess what? They delivered it to the post office and now I have to wait again. WHAT WAS THE $13+ FOR? I'm done. Fool me once...
I haven't had problems with shoes and bags, but only bad experiences with jewelry. I paid almost 300.00 for a necklace that was advertised as consisting of sterling silver, mother of pearl, lapis, pearls, and bronze. The lapis was fake, pearls ok, mother of pearl was cheap quality, no marked silver. Quality was cheap and flimsy, and looked like it had been purchased from a flea market vendor. It fell apart the first time I wore it. Returned it. Bought a pair of earrings from them a few years ago, and was disappointed in the quality of the stones and size. Should have known better than to order jewelry again.
But, it looked gorgeous in the magazine.
You may never see your $$ again. I returned an item received by Sundance on 12/5. After six calls to the company on the refund status, they continue tell me they've sent the issue over to the warehouse for them to look into it. Latest is now the are doing inventory and won't be able to look into it until after 1/2/20. OMG will I ever see my refund minus the $7.95 rerun shipping? I'm beginning to despair.
This is the WORST customer service I have ever encountered! Ordered TWO key rings on Dec. 2nd. On the 14th the package arrived with only 1 key ring in it. Called customer service and was told by Sydney that I would receive the 2nd one in a day or two. On Dec. 20th I called again to ask about it. Brittany said that a "senior agent" had gotten it on Dec. 14th. I asked to speak to a senior agent and got Sam. He said that the senior agent sent it to the warehouse on the 16th. Had no other information after that. I assume that it is LOST in the warehouse. Intended this for a Christmas gift. No emails from the company, no information, and no help. I will never order from them again! Linda M.
Paid with a CC and a gift card, they returned most of the money to Gift Card - why?
Tried to get an explanation- they said it is done automatically, so I am trying to get rid of the gift card balance and instead I am getting more and more back on it!
Customer Service is useless, tell you one thing, nothing happened in fact!
Horrible customer service. Tried to cancel item 2 hours after I ordered it and was told it has already shipped. Got notification 5 hours later that my order has just shipped? I ordered on 12/7 and called on 12/16 and said it will be delivered today. Never got delivered. Customer service never knows what is going on! Never ordering from this company again.
I ordered an item on Nov 28th. Was to be delivered on Dec 5th. Paid S&H fee of approximately 20% of my purchase--which is ridiculous. Then got a notice that the item had been shipped and would now arrive Dec 9th. I looked up the tracking info--the item is a 25 minute drive from my house! Yet 4 more days?! Then today I looked again: the item is now in a different suburb--still 25 minutes' drive from my house--and won't arrive until 12/12--seriously!? 14 days to deliver something from Utah to Denver, CO?
I called customer service: I don't know if the person was hung over, still sleeping, or just depressed (maybe because of the job she has...). She could barely communicate. Spent about 15 minutes on the phone. Most of the time waiting for her to "find out if someone can help me with this." Ended up with "I don't know why it's taking so long. You can wait until 12/12 and see" if it arrives. And you can cancel your order if it doesn't. "That's another option..."
The last time I ever order from Sundance. Cute stuff. Overpriced. And terrible service. Robert Redford has made all the money he wants. Doesn't care about customers in the least and it shows. Too many other wonderful options to ever use this again. Am cancelling my catalog subscription.
Sundance overcharges for shipping and state taxes. I computed my order and found that both were inflated. I have cancelled my catalog subscription and am returning the item (cashmere sweater) which I recently ordered.
Answer: No. Sold it to a lawless private equity firm. Took the money and ran laughing all the way to the bank. Screw the customer until there are none, then just rebrand and keep screwing the customer. But when it comes down to it, its up to consumers to do their homework on all e-commerce as there are few laws, protections, and really no regulatory oversight/enforcement for this kind of criminal fraud which is rampant in the US now. Other countries have enviable common sense laws governing e-commerce on their books because their citizens wont tolerate the sort of abuses and fraud perpetrated by companies like Sundance, et al.
Answer: Shipping costs are extremely high, shipping is very slow and quality is not consistent.
Answer: The photos are so deceptive that the product you receive is nothing like them. See my photos below. I wish Sundance would do better.
Answer: No you don't! Overpriced and poor quality. I Purchased a necklace on sale and it was so tiny I returned it. This company is no longer affiliated with Robert Redford!
