My son has had a ticket for weeks for international travel. The departure city has changed once. The departure date and time has changed three times and all three show at Studentuniverse as if they are active, i. E., one does not overwrite or negate the old itinerary. Was shocked when he received a message today claiming his departure was over three hours ago, not midday tomorrow as on the itinerary we have in front of us. The airlines appear to agree with us. In fact, the flight number on the latest shocker itinerary does not exist at the airline. Guess we'll go to the airport tomorrow and hope for the best. Held on the phone for an hour and "time since you placed your call" just kept getting pushed back every 10 minutes or so. Would not ever use them again and will let the travel agent who recommended them know.

Trip got cancelled, had to request refund. Was only allowed travel credit under very strict conditions(which would not have existed if we booked direct with airline). Every person we talked to over the phone had no idea what they were talking about and gave us different information. Ended up losing over $1000 because of this misinformation. I normally don't write reviews but student universe is absolutely not a trust worthy company. Yes their price might look appealing but you have to ask yourself how do they make money as a business? They are a for profit company not a charity. The answer is through withholding flight cancellation fees. By booking through student universe you lose all the privilege you get from booking with an airline directly. In my case I booked with west jet, and my flight was changed WITHOUT any notice whatsoever, on west jet website it clearly states in case of a flight change made by the airline, they will contact you with an option to either accept the change or receive a full refund. Student universe ACCEPTED the flight change without contacting me or NOTIFYING me. And when I asked student universe where my refund is at, they offered a "student universe credit", and it must be used on the exact same travel route by the exact same airline. Meaning if your original flight was supposed to travel from point A to point B, you can only use your "credit" if you travel from A to B again in the future. And if your next flight is cheaper you just lose the money difference. And don't ever buy into the whole "oh we just follow airline policy" it is straight out lies to make themselves look like they give a crap when they clearly don't. I hope nothing but the worst for this company.

These airlines are not student friendly or helpful. They only care about getting money out of our pockets and nothing. No service, no availability. I don't understand how they use covid as a reason for their irresponsive behavior. Other big airlines are pretty much helpful especially in covid times. Please don't book a ticket in this website. All they could give was some automatic reply. They will make you wait in line for a single call for hours. I don't know if they are trying to act busy since they are just some fake company that only takes people money. If you want to reschedule your flight, they will cost the difference equal to new flight. They will always squander your money without any proper service. I have been trying to reach them for three days but no avail. Please please dont use this website. You are going to just lose some money.

Got stuck in Thailand because if this company's incompetence. My flight was delayed so I rebooked with the agent just to be told by the airline that the ticket wasn't confirmed and I cannot travel. Every time I called them there was a 90 minutes wait and international call charge AVOID AVOID AVOID

In my 56yo life this has been one of the worst experiences Ive ever had.
Ive literally just spent 3 hrs from waiting for the call back (1hr) to battling with the customer service rep with english so difficult to understand I had to ask her to constantly repeat every single word (2hrs). To top this off at the end of the 3 hrs just when she was about to confirm what she'd done when their system hung up on me so now I have to ring back and go through the whole exercise again to confirm 1 simple flight!
This was all for a simple domestic flight trying to use a credit I had in the system, the rep confirmed there was enough to cover both departing and return flights but apparently their system will only allow the return flight (her english was so poor I had zero chance of understanding why)
I will be going out of my way to tell every single person I possibly can to NEVER use these people as they are impossible to understand. If it was possible to select a minus star rating this would be what they deserve.

My travel credit of over $1,150 was reduced by $400 for no reason. I encounted exorbitant additional fees and flight costs when attempting to use the travel credit. The flights were advertised for $69 but StudentUniverse tried to charge over $350.

If I could give a minus star, I would. Bought a ticket with other student friends to go to California and then the pandemic broke. They refused to refund and are now telling me I crossed my deadline date for the next travel as though the pandemic is over. I did not choose not to travel it was due to a pandemic I keep telling studentuniverse for a year now but nothing. Travel was banned by the government; quarantine. They choose to reap where they have not sown. They discriminate give my friends their refund but refuse to give me my refund concerning the same flight, the same reason for not traveling; pandemic! Avoid at all costs not worth your money or the massive stress with dealing with this company.

Called to confirm booking prior to flight. They had somehow changed the departure City? They could not honour my original booking ( I had paper copy evidence) and had me flying out 5 days later. They were 'sorry for the inconvenience' and told me they could credit my flight cost - after arguing with them about this - I have been "promised" a refund, but it will take up to 10 days. They said if I don't receive it I have to call back and follow up.
No explanation given as to why an error of this magnitude occured, or why I was not notified by email or text.
I would advise any traveller to ABSOLUTELY NOT EVER deal with Student Universe. Save yourself the stress by booking directly with an airline. Absolutely terrible and never ever again would I use them, nor recommend them.

DON'T DO IT. They WILL scam you, you WILL lose money, they WILL NOT care. I had to change my flight to include my sister who is too young (12) to add on via student Universe. They told me I could have a refund but gave me a $517.99 credit to use with American Airlines. I found a flight on AA's website that worked for us for $460.99 each and was excited when I found the same one on Student universe for the same price. I was going to call them to redeem my credit and schedule my sisters flight through AA (and call to tell them we were together)... well the lady rudely told me that flight didn't exist at Student Universe until I asked her to check again because I was LOOKING at it and had been for an hour. She then happened to find it and told me she could redeem my coupon and my remaining balance would only be $107.97? Extra money for a cheaper flight? They made me pay $625.96 for a flight that I could've purchased straight from the website ( and even American Airlines website) for $460.99! I was told that that was for new customers only... yet I could purchase it on my own for that price but they charged me $110 on top of the $517.99 that I had already paid for a cheaper flight. Way to scam a broke college kid. What a pathetic company. Imagine getting the chance to march in the Rose Bowl Parade and being miserable about it because you chose to try a student friendly booking company. With my luck, the ticket will be fake too!

Unfortunately, credits must be redeemed for the same type of ticket as was originally purchased, and not all of the fares on AA's website are available for credit purchase, which is why the fare was higher. This company might call themselves StudentUniverse, but the truth is that their tickets are not cheaper than on any other site. In 2019 I flew 70 times and frequently compared the prices to StudentUniverse - and not ONE single time did they have a better offer. This is a normal travel agency masqueraded as helping out students. If they find you a deal, go directly to that airline and it will be cheaper. Interestingly enough, they were often MORE expensive than a standard ticket I found on other websites. There is no reason to book here.

Actually though, many of our tickets are discounted up to 30% off—perhaps the routes you were searching we didn't have discounts for, or perhaps you weren't seeing our cheapest prices which are reserved for those logged in with verified student accounts. I would never recommend anyone to book seats and purchase tickets from this American Company called StudentUniverse. These guys show you the cheap tickets and impressed you to buy it; when you bought the ticket and feel happy that you have saved some money, then in the next phase, you will get an email that the airline has been rescheduled your flight and would straight away say that it's not our fault, the airline does change the flight. It's all pre-planned business of this company with airlines that you will change flights of any of our passengers as they are budget class tickets, so you can treat them as you like. I observed that my flights were changed regularly and said that flights had been changed by the airline, but in reality, the flights were still operating at the same time. Just imagine, you were going to utilise a cheaper ticket and thinking that you have saved some money, but you were paying more, because now the flight has been rescheduled, you are forcibly on a new booking and going to stopover in-between, that means you will have to pay extra money for a hotel, Taxi, Food and collect and rebook your luggage again. At the end of the day, if you calculate your travelling expenses, you will surprise to find that they will be far, far higher than the price of the ticket you did not buy at in the start due to the high cost and bought this cheap ticket. It's regularly happening with us, and now we strongly suggest to you guys that it's okay if you can afford this botheration but don't buy the cheaper ticket if you think that you have saved money.

Absolutely terrible service! I booked a hotel in Miami for 2 double beds in June (almost a month before I was going). As soon as I got to Hyatt, they told me they couldn't find my reservation. I called StudentUniverse and after almost a 1.5 hour hold, they told me that my reservation never went through. Funny since I NEVER got an email saying that and instead got emails confirming my reservation and a transaction of almost $300. Well, they offered to relocate me to Hyatt. After almost 3 hours on the phone and they were like "well book a similar type of room as your original". I originally booked 2 double beds + 1 sofa bed. I got 1 double bed + 1 sofa bed instead for 4 people.
They just keep going back and forth and keep me on hold for HOURS. Terrible terrible service. Never use them.

Flight was cancelled by the airline and changed to an earlier flight. 3x email to the agency (as they had requested) asking to confirm. Agency failed to cancel and airline deemed a no show resulting in loss of entire passage. Impossible to call agency due to interminable phone loops. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BOOK A FLIGHT THROUGH STUDENT UNIVERSE!

I asked via email for my flight to be cancelled and refunded on Tuesday 4 days before my flight due to COVID lock downs. I was asked to send additional information which I did. No response for 3 days. I email again and they say oh sorry too late you have been marked as a no show to your flight. You will not be refunded.

To be honest, I booked through SU without reading any reviews, so when I did read them I was petrified. I also booked my flight for a day after I was supposed to fly out, and because of past reviews of it being a scam I was scared I'd lose all my money. I'm a broke college student, so I wasn't sure what I would do. My flight was with American Airlines and it was from Florida to Philly (for reference). I called customer service and it took about 2 and a half hours for them to reply, but the lady was extremely nice. I got to change my flight the day before, for a fee of like $50 which was better then the $200 fee that AA had for any flight. It processed right away. I honestly have no complaints, guessing from the reviews I might've gotten lucky.
