Great online retailer, especially for military surplus and close-out items. More than fair customer service, and typically some of the best prices available anywhere. Too bad all online retailers aren't as good as sportsmansguide.com.
I've ordered many times from SG. Typically, prices can be pretty good, but shipping times are extremely slow (and expensive), communication is poor, and "free" gift cards/coupons have short expiration dates, and lots of restrictions. My experience with their customer service department via phone and email has been terrible. Prices are good, but be careful with restrictions and timing/cost of delivery... and don't expect any communication about delivery times or delays.
So disappointed, Placed an order on 12/9/14 for a pair of work boots for my husband ($200). Kept checking the shipping date, and today 12/26/14 15 days after original purchase im informed (only because i called to check on order) that they canceled it because the vendor couldn't fulfill product. Will probably NEVER do business with this company again!"
I ordered a product overnight and it shipped that same day which is great. On the website it never said that this product couldn't be shipped overnight, so I look later that night and it was shipped FedEx smart post and was scheduled to arrive 5 business days later, keep in mind I live within 1.5 hours from their building. It would have been 1 day ground, but I overnighted so that it had priority. I called and talked to their customer service and got a refund on the shipping(they would have kept my money for the overnight had I not pursued it). I called back to see if I could order another product and pay for Saturday delivery and the customer service rep was defensive and condescending. She kept passing the buck onto FEDEX. I told her she is going to need learn a lot about customer service relations if she is going to be effective in this industry. She immediately went on to defend her lack of tact. The product mishap was annoying, but forgivable, but what isn't forgivable was how it was handled by Joyce in customer service.

I have purchased several times from this site. I typically have had a good experience. One of the transactions even generated a "gift card." Not thinking Gift Cards would expired, I put the card and receipt into my Sportsmanguide folder. A couple of months later, I was going to make another large purchase. I went to get the gift card and noticed that the card had expired. Upon further review, the card was only valid for two weeks. I called to request some sort of consideration since I have spent several thousands of dollars and have been a customer for almost 3 years. The less than considerate supervisor gave no remorse, was rude, and indicated that they have customers who regullarly spend this sort of money and no further consideration would be given. If it was a day or two, she would reconsider, but since it has been a couple months, no consideration would be given. Overall terrible customer service and will ensure I never spend another dollar at this site again.
They have some good deals, but most of their stuff can be found at Fleet Farm for the same price without a shipping charge. Just recently I ordered an item, it was back-ordered 2 months. Then they shipped me a similar cheaper model of the piece I ordered. I called and talked to their customer service, and was told they would get the correct one out to me as soon as they received the return since, "they had plenty in stock."... got a call today, and they received my return but the part is yet again sold out, and I am waiting an estimated 2 weeks before it is back in stock. I will NOT be renewing my Buyer's Club membership, and likely will never be giving them my business again. Their customer service is pathetic!
Now, regretfully, I'm writing to tell you our supplier will not have this item available in the promised time frame, and in fact, cannot even give us any kind of reliable timeline for delivery. Because of that, we're cancelling the backorder for this item on your order

I purchased 2 ladderstands from this site. The stands were not quality stands-they bent and the metal ladder frames cracked during installation.The nuts stripped. They were too dangerous to use as we learned after building them.The stands couldn't even be taken apart. They insisted I take apart the stands and return them despite the fact that the nuts had all stripped. They told me to hacksaw them but they needed all the pieces back. Under the circumstances I felt it was unreasonable. I could take pictures or send them parts but it's too much work to hacksaw 22 ft treestands so they fit into a box to get my money back.In my opinion they shouldn't sell such junk. I bet Cabelas or Bass Pro would've handled this better.

Ordered ammo on their website and had to buy into the Buyer's Club just to get competitive pricing. On further review I found many instances where the Buyer's Club pricing was not as competitive as say Midway USA on almost everything, and Midway doesn't sell you on a program in order to get better pricing. In addition, when I found something I wanted on SG's website it was never in my size. Since my ammo was backordered I called and cancel everything, including the Buyer's Club
I have made a multitude of purchases with Sportsmansguide.com, from ammunition to optics to outdoor gear. Every transaction has been better than the last. I strongly recommend joining the Buyer's Club. Just my two cents.
I've ordered 3 times. Two were good experiences, but this last time has been a nightmare and it was their warehouse error --twice for the same item -- they DID NOT ensure that the same mistake did not happen again. It ruined my sleep during a scouting trip, as I had no sleeping pad as a result. They did not make it right, and even suggested that I go to grocery stores to see if I could find a box that their WRONG product would fit into so I could return it. Never had any problems with this site. Even when product was bad. They either exchanged or gave money back with no question ask! Very fast and on top of things!
I love this website! I have been ordering from Sportsmans Guide for several years now and always had good service. As a "clearance warehouse" type site, it is logical that a person would see some lower quality items, but in general I am impressed. I have bought clothing, sleeping bags, bedding, auto accessories, etc. I'm sorry Ashley S. Had such a bad experience... everyone I know has had high praise for this site. And the Club deals are amazing!
I ordered a customized frame for a family friend for Christmas. The website said on the ordering page that if the order was placed by December 13th that the item would be recieved by Christmas...
I contacted them on January 3rd because the frame still hadn't arrived. Several days later a representative called me and said that the manufacturer had the item on backorder and that it would be shipped on January 15th.
I still don't have the frame at this point, they were completely unapoligetic, and, of course, it has already been paid for.
I would have bought the frame from a different website if I knew this was going to happen!
Answer: NONE OF THEM -- that's why the stock numbers are each listed with what pistol they do fit -- none are listed for the weird Ruger P95 because they are not made to fit that pistol.
