I did do a one time purchse for 99 cents.The Spokeo scam-artists started billing me at $24.95 for a subscription that i never subscribed to. They will defraud the elderly and steal money from your credit card too.

Whatever value it might have if you pay for it, Spokeo is not free, ever. It advertises itself as "free" but requires payment the first time you use it. That is fundamentally dishonest and completely undermines their credibility. There are other sites that effectively research information on people that do not use such dishonest advertising but that do excellent work.

1.00 search ends up draining your bank account in the future - sick PR stunt - shut it down! Super scam in action here. Probably run from some shady spot in some foreign country. Customer service is good though :) Happy to cancel the subscription if you catch on in time... - you'll be out 25.00 either way - 1.00 promise or not. (Scam is this - pay 1.00 and you authorize them to sign you up without your consent - but you give consent with the 1.00 promise - InSaNiTy at it's best) The data they gather is like trash - it's useless and several years behind the times. Grew up with law enforcement/investigations - this is horrible unless you like fake news. If someone is an internet whore, you might get a tiny bit of useful information. Otherwise it's like subscribing to "National Enquirer" LOL

I read the terms and conditions, signed up for $0.85 trial. I verified information given to me and canceled. Erica in customer service emailed me a confirmation of cancellation and confirmation my credit card would not be billed further. Couldn't have been easier!

The Bad Guys canceled my bank card and had a new card sent to their casa. I caught it when my card came up invalid. The bank had an address for the destination. I googled the address. There I was looking at an apt. Building. I add who lives at the residence and up popped Spokeo. This company's data bank is top notch. I bought a membership on april10,2021. I called the company for a refund within an hour to ask for a refund. This however was my problem. I'm a guy in my fifties and not the best at using a computer or the very latest up to date technology. I found spokeo customer service to be very friendly and helpful.
I'm in the process of receiving a full refund.
Based on my experience, I would very likely recommend a friend to try their service.
It's not the fault of spokeo, I should have made learning new technologies more of a priority.

Spokeo continued deducting from my bank account after I canceled the service. They only refunded $9.98, although $25 was deducted. From the reviews, it seems this happens alot.
On a positive note, customer service was very polite and replied to all my inquiries in a timely manner.

Didn't even know I had a subscription until it showed up on my cc bill. So I did a few searches. Knew they were off, so I did a search on myself. Almost all of the information was wrong, and most of it wasn't connected to me in any way. Really hard to figure, since I have an uncommon name. Spokeo is a waste of money. Rated 1 star only because 0 isn't an option.

These people are scammers. The information that o was able to obtain from then I could have easily found myself. You do not get in-depth information but worst than all of that I'd they pull you in on this "Free Trial" saying is you cancel within 7 days you won't be billed. Seeing that I was able to determine instantly that this site was not going to provide me with the information I needed. I immediately canceled my " Free" Trial per their instructions. I actually canceled using 2 separate measures just to be sure my cancellation was received. Fast forward today (day 8) I get notification that a charge to Spokeo just hit my account for $24.95
I immediately call Spokeo and they say I will be happy to cancel your membership for you and you will refer I'm no additional charges from us.
I say well that's great but I'm more concerned about the charge that has already been made even though I canceling my Trial the very day I signed up for it.
Then she says "I am showing that you still have 98 more searched you can make at no cost" I said I don't want ANY searches I want my money back for the monthly subscription you charged me even though I canceled! She then says I don't see where "I've " documented any cancellation for you. I said so you are the one sole person who works in service? How about any of the other reps? Are you telling me that none of them received my cancellation as well? She then says... "Well I can credit you back $9 of what you were charged " I said oh really you would do that? You would credit me back a quarter of the amount that you charged me for a trial subscription that I canceled the same day, well before my Trial was over? I told her that the company was deceitful and they are scamming people that are in a vulnerable place.
She said let me put you on hold for a minute and see whst I can do.
She comes back in less than a minute and says $24.95 has been credited back to your account.
Shocking.! I would never use this company nor would I recommend anyone else to

I do a lot of online shopping and have been scammed a few times while doing it. With Spokeo, I can alleviate all scammer's before I purchase anything by checking their address, phone and email address. It works because I was able to catch (3) scammer's so far! Thanks for this great app!

Answer: Watch for the $20 charge at the end of the month. They say a person is out, then the charge comes a month later. Had to cancel my card and get new # to keep them out of my wallet.
Answer: Three alternatives: 1) Logon with you old Spokeo account and contact customer support. 2) If you can't remember your old logon, 2.1) try a google search to find Spokeo customer service link or telephone number. 2.2) Spokeo has notes on some reviews. Maybe they have included their support number or link? 3) Call Visa and ask them to kill the Spokeo charges to your Visa account.
Answer: Not that I know of but they're slick the moment you put your card info in it saves and if you use something that takes payment they'll charge the card without asking.

Answer: I cancelled Spokeo service due to selling me misinformation or inaccurate information. I got this in writing from David at Spokeo. They are good about sending a letter about we are sorry about not meeting your expectations. Our terms of use states we can do this blah blah blah. After I cancelled this subscription and got this in writing from David, I got a new debit card from my bank. Spokeo found the NEW CARD and charged it. I took the problem to my bank and got a credit. Be very careful of these people, watch your bank statements.
