I have been getting calls and texts from some weird girl wanting to exchange sexual acts for money. I searched spokeo to get the person's name so I can report her to the police. ALL I got for my $5 is the name of the phone provider and the general area of the caller (photo below). How is that helpful? Out 5 bucks for nothing. Do better!

Have used this site for years; for the most part have found the info to be accurate. Sometimes I can tell it's wrong (or not up to date info) which therefore lends to not knowing if any info you didn't already have an inkling about is accurate or current but overall It's produced good results and I'd recommend this site.

Another case of signing up for a one time use and subsequently having my credit card billed automatically for a monthly "subscription". Called, complained and was given their standard answer. "Unfortunately, blah, blah, blah..." Definitely scrited. Was refunded for one month. Will be contacting BBB and every other complaint site available.

This is the typical case of highway robbery. You sign up for 1 (one) search for which you pay with your credit card. Small print apparently commits you to a 7 day "free" subscription, but you don't know that. Then after the 7 days are over, your credit card is charged $24.95 for one month of searches. The searches are very limited and sometimes not accurate or updated, in those cases when you do have the correct information. You basically get a phone number and some other basic information. When you want to go beyond that basic information you will be charged an outrageous amount. What happened to the old fashioned white pages?

Searching an email address on their landing page. I input the address and started the initial search. There was a progress meter running, like something was happening. The results were hidden, until payment. But the results promised for the specific search were quite extensive. There were big green check marks next to Name, address, social media and many others. Once I paid the fee and was automatically signed up for their 7-day trial membership, I was now a member. In 7 days they would be charging my $24.95 a month until cancelled. I looked at the results of the search for which I was promised. When I looked, I was advised that there was no information for this email address search.
Then they had a pop-up asking to share my experience so far. I shared what I just told you and asked them to contact me for more information. Then I submitted that to them. In that process they supplied this review site for me to share my experience of their website. How handy!...:-)
I, also, am having difficulty cancelling my subscription. There is a "Cancel" button under my account settings. But, when I press it, it does not cancel the membership. It asks for one of their staff to contact you about cancelling, via email, phone or live chat. Live chat was not functioning. I chose the email option. I expect grief...:-(
Avoid this website, if at all possible.
UPDATE: I did choose the email option for cancelling my membership. At least, this went smoothly. No grief, as I had expected. I received and email that day advising me that my membership was cancelled. I will, of course, be monitoring my payment method to see if a $24.95 charge occurs in the next weeks.

I asked to do a reverse phone number to get a name. This phone number shows to be a landline number so there must be a name. This is the 4th reverse number app I have tried and this one didn't help me either. If you need a name to go with a number don't waste your time or money with this one.

I tried this service for a random message sent to my work phone. When I entered the email/Phone number SPOKEO dashboard flashed with a bunch of green lights indicating that they had found lots of information and implying the amount of the information was great. So I decided to use this service and paid the $0.95 and see what happens next. After creating an account, I found that this was an absolute scam. The site had absolutely ZERO information for me. All the green check marks that pretended to have information literary changed to "we have zero information." After complaining to my girlfriend about what a fraud this is, she recommended that the number/email address I was searching might just be a new account and to give SPOKEO a chance. She recommended that I use her email and phone number to see what shows up. Reason for using her information is because she is extremely active on social media, especially Instagram and even has a YouTube channel, albeit with small following. Regardless, SPOKEO should've found something on her. THE ONLY THING THEY FOUND is her account on ETSY.
These guys are a scam. They hook you in with promises of great results, force you into paying the $1 and hoping that you forget to cancel your subscription. The amount is so small that most people won't even realize that they are being charged a monthly fee.
At first I was going to just cancel my subscription and be done with it. Then I decided that I should try to warn others. I am not even going to request a refund since the time is not worth the $0.95 that I would be getting back. My goal is to keep others from making the same mistake. Save yourself the time and hassle to having to go back and cancelling, then having to check back couple of months to make sure you truly are not being scammed.

Answer: Watch for the $20 charge at the end of the month. They say a person is out, then the charge comes a month later. Had to cancel my card and get new # to keep them out of my wallet.
Answer: Three alternatives: 1) Logon with you old Spokeo account and contact customer support. 2) If you can't remember your old logon, 2.1) try a google search to find Spokeo customer service link or telephone number. 2.2) Spokeo has notes on some reviews. Maybe they have included their support number or link? 3) Call Visa and ask them to kill the Spokeo charges to your Visa account.

Answer: I cancelled Spokeo service due to selling me misinformation or inaccurate information. I got this in writing from David at Spokeo. They are good about sending a letter about we are sorry about not meeting your expectations. Our terms of use states we can do this blah blah blah. After I cancelled this subscription and got this in writing from David, I got a new debit card from my bank. Spokeo found the NEW CARD and charged it. I took the problem to my bank and got a credit. Be very careful of these people, watch your bank statements.
