The best out there.

I write letters to people about some of the problems we face in this world. To do this I get a number of addresses and must find the names ff the pe90oe who live there. Spokeo has always given me the most up to date and accurate name list I have ever used.

This company steals from the people. Period. There is no legitimate need for this company, yet the chose to exist because they know how to scam you, and get away with it. Use beenverified. They use the same payment structure, but unlike spokeo, they let you know you've been charged, send you an email telling you so, and inform you when you are being charged again. A GOOD FAITH COMPANY. Unlike the literal crooks who run spokeo, running the same info as other websites, but doing NOTHING to help their consumers like all other services like this. This is a scam. DO not use the free trial. You will NOT get an email, and you WILL forget. They will then charge you 25 dollars for an account you don't use, don't log into, and don't even know about, MONTLY, without notification to you. BAD FAITH COMPANY

What a rip-off

You are promised all this info if you join and then when you join you are told it is another $19.95 per person to get more than an address. I am not even sure this is the right person on an address alone.

Purchased a $0.95 telephone number report that turned out to be completely useless. A week later, I get a payment receipt for my "7 Days Trial Membership" which I did not knowingly sign up for. I logged into the Spokeo account I had to create, hunted til I found "Manage Your Subscriptions" and canceled it. I hope. It's absolutely unbelievable that AT&T recommends these ripoff artists as a reverse -lookup resource, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

My intellectually challenged daughter was scammed on instagram and paid the crook. I had the phone number of the person who scammed her. Did a search on the number and spokeo came up. I chose the one time $1.95 option to search on the phone number but did not know was signing up for a free trial period. All I got about the phone number was city/state info. 7 days later I get a receipt for a $26.95 to spokeo that they withdrew from the same account that I used to pay the $1.95 seven days previously. I immediately called spokeo and said I did not sign up for any service and asked them to return my money. Obviously I must have not read the small print related to the $1.95 one time purchase, and that I was signing up for their service. I was told that they would refund $10.98 but not the entire $26.95. And they immediately did refund the $10.98. In summary, it's untrue that the cost of doing the one transaction is $1.95. Actually the minimum cost of doing one transaction is $17.92 if one adds in the money not refunded, which they should make perfectly clear at the time of the $1.95 purchase. So I got scammed looking up a scammer! Please be aware that the $1.95 charge advertised for a one time use is totally false. It's a bait and switch scheme and the actual cost of the one time search is $17.92! To conclude, I guess both my daughter and I are intellectually challenged persons who were scammed. Totally insult upon injury in my opinion.

Added 6/8/22 - made a mistake - one time cost was 95 cents, not $1.95. Also checking my email I did get an acknowledgement from spokeo saying welcome to membership and free trial (should have looked before doing this review, I did not. However fact remains that the search did not cost. 95, it cost about $17 dollars, which I think should be spelled out in their welcome acknowledgement. My apologies, however still feels like a rip off!

Scammers

They signed me up for monthly charges of $24.95 for months. I was only able to get a partial refund — even after waiting on hold for a supervisor, I couldn't get the full refund for something I never authorized or used. Then the supervisor "Jason", rudely hung up on me. (I wasn't being rude at all).

Absolutely useless. Complete ripoff.

Someone's called my phone for the past couple of days. I tried calling back and received a generic "no agents are currently available" message, but the recording didn't identify the company. I ran the number on Spokeo and all the free report told me was that the number was in Terrell TX and that I could buy a full report for $0.95. Since Spokeo was endorsed by AT&T as a reverse-lookup resource, I went ahead and paid the $0.95 for the "report" which was nothing but a bunch of useless boilerplate along with some random data about the number (i. E. "landline," and the carrier name) but the only identifying information contained in the full report was that the number was located in Terrell TX (which the free report had already revealed). Complete ripoff. If the full report doesn't contain any identifying information, it shouldn't be offered.

I have to admit, I wasn't to keen on the reviews that are on Trustpilot about Spokeo.

There were many negative feedbacks that made me slightly worried about the Spokeo customer service which I am delighted to announce there was no need for me to be worried after all.

I emailed customer service on Monday the 30th of May to request a refund and wasn't expecting a quick response nor a refund at all.

To my surprise, by the following evening (31st of May) I had an email from PayPal stating I've been refunded by Spokeo despite there being negative feedback about Spokeo being a scam and also that they refuse to refund, which isn't true at all.

Based on my own experience, the customer service was quick, the refund wasn't an issue and was quickly paid to me and also, their service is generally okay for someone if they live in the USA. I'm from the UK so there weren't really a great deal of information available for my searches, but I can guarantee, if you are from USA, you'll be more satisfied than myself.

Disappointing.
June 1, 2022

The website said the number I was researching was a landline and that they had the name of the owner. I said what the heck, I will pay and start an account. No name associated with it. And it still said it was a landline. I called in to see what was up. I was told it was VOIP. Total waste of my time. The rep on the phone was good, the information on the site was wrong or useless. But at least they refunded my money. Sad that my first experience with Spokeo was not good. I know others that have used it with better results.
