I have been using Spokeo for years now. Wouldn't be without it and use it frequently. Those that complain do not understand limitations of online companies like Spokeo. Spokeo is not perfect but it works for me. I find it necessary for my business and feel fortunate they are providing a vital service by Spokeo's very existance.

Scammers!

I searched an email and a dummy report appeared with what seemed like lots of useful information, but blurred out details. I paid for the report... and none of that information was actually there! In fact... the three social media accounts they linked to the email address weren't even registered to that email address. I'm so bloody angry at this! Steer clear of this company at all costs!

Don't understand the low scores here

I've always had positive experiences with Spokeo. Not sure why so many here seem dissatisfied. It is possibly because people (including myself) generally tend to think about reviews when they've had a bad experience and if there are no complaints we tend to not think about writing a review.
I have had probably 60% to 70% success with them and that number is considerably much higher when I opt in for the extra searches which cost a bit more but it is worth it to me if the need for that information is greater.
All in all I've had better success with Spokeo then with the other search engines many of which are deceptive.
Spokeo is upfront and I appreciate that. The customer service is also very good.

Used to be great

So this is supposed to be a site that looks up ppl and their info. It's a bunch of BS. I even paid for the trial and not information I was looking for... Unless the ppl lying to me about their name and phone number, yet I call and text this guy so it should come up. How about add picture look up or license plate... come on Spokeo!

Don't sign up for the free weekly trial because even if you unsubscribe you will be billed $24.95 and you will not be refunded for this payment.
Customer service started to pretend they couldn't hear me on the phone ("Hello? Are you still there?") when I questioned this and asked for a refund, isn't this something teenagers do when they do something shady?
Spokeo is unprofessional, untrustworthy and worst of all, immoral.

Never saw myself using one of these sites until the world stopped due to COVID-19 & after a remote demo I decided to give it a try. Letting my fingers do the walking instead of pounding the pavement. Kept the lights on & the clients happy so overall I'm happy with this service

Useless company

I tried to trace someone and all the information they had was years out of date. I could not obtain the information I needed. Worse, I unsubscribed, they know I unsubscribed because the offered the service again at a lower price... but they still keep taking money from my vank account.

I need to find my daughter cause I gave birth to her and never meant to lose all contact info. I scared her in some way but I don't know how really. Shes recently married and probably thinking of her own family so for me it's now or never. Sokeo False Advertising
June 24, 2022

Spokeo sucks you in by indicating that it has found information on the owner of an email address, which it will show you if you pay them. Then it turns out they haven't actually done any search at all until you pay them, and they in fact have no information. Meanwhile they have collected your money and your email address and contact info which they can sell to other people.

Not worth it and.

Someone broke into my work (I work at a gym and they used a free day pass which they fill out online at home so they easily just walked in.) using a fake email. The police were called and since I am manager they took a statement from me and we agreed on using Spokeo to trace the email the thief used. I figured since I'm manager I'll use my own card and pay the $. 95 cent, yesterday however, I got a $24.95 charge because the first time use is actually a 7 day trial period that automatically recurs. I totally understand that and that's not even why I'm upset. It's only $25 I get it and I could care less but I'm upset because from many reviews I saw online people got full reimbursements by just saying "oh I forgot about the trial". I only used this because of the police situation or else I would've never worked with this company and only received $9 back. The thing that was MOST frustrating though is lady who "helped" me and wouldn't let me get a gd word out from the jump with her fake voice and robotic script. (Melissa I think her name was) Even just saying hello and giving her my info to look at my account she would talk over me and at one point I had to tell her to stop after I think the 56th time... I had time today as you could tell lol

Waste of money

Spokeo charged me extra money after I signed up, and then they didn't provide any useful information.

I received your complaint to the Sitejabber.com page for Spokeo, on June 22,2022 regarding our service and charges made to your account, and I am happy to assist in resolving this matter.

When making a purchase, we do our best to let you know about the kind of information we may have available. In addition, we gather our data from 12 billion public records, ranging from census data to public social media profiles. New information is added to our system every day. Spokeo does not originate or create data, so our data reflects that of the original sources. Spokeo does not guarantee data accuracy, and the data should only be used as a reference. We are, however, constantly working to expand and improve the data available on our site. New information is added to our system every day and I suggest you check back for new updates.

Please allow me to explain the charges associated with the services selected to your account. Since all Spokeo subscriptions automatically renew to prevent service interruption, trials that were left unchanged, were charged on the service's renewal date. I apologize if this was unclear.

Unfortunately I was unable to locate a Spokeo account with the information provided in your complaint to assist you with your concern. To help you further with this complaint, please provide the following information in an email message to [email protected] with the subject title of “Sitejabber.com Review Site Complaint”:

- your full name, or the name(s) of any secondary authorized user(s) on the credit or debit card(s) charged

- last 4 digits of the credit or debit card(s) billed, or any expired or secondary card(s)

- card type(s) (Visa, MasterCard, etc.)

- any other email address(es) (other than the one used to contact us)

- if PayPal, the email address associated with the PayPal account

- exact amount(s) charged and transaction date(s)

Once the account is located and verified, I'd be happy to assist you with your concerns.

I asked for my subscription to be canceled and my money to be refunded they only refunded 9 dollars of the 24 they charged me, any other company would refund the entire amount
