Lowest of the low.
April 27, 2018

In my previous house we had Verizon which was excellent with the TV/Internet/phone
Service. Verizon was bought by Frontier which did not have quite the quality. After we moved we had to sign with Spectrum which had bought Brighthouse, Spectrum customer service is excellent, they come most times the same day you call. Their problem is their DVRs are a piece of crap. We have to re-boot them a couple of
Times a week because they lock, their program screen often shows a wrong name of what is being shown. Unfortunately here they are the only company allowed to "service" the area.

With so many negative reviews, one would think spectrum would take some sort of corrective action. The fact that they have not (and my "service" is as bad as ever) tells us a lot about the character, or lack thereof, of the company!

The worse
April 25, 2018

There are bogus reviews when you search Spectrum reviews - these are sites paid for by Spectrum to write false favorable reviews.

My cable / Internet provider was bought out by Spectrum. Since that time service has gone down and prices went up. Channels that were free now reauire addional payment. Many channels pixelate after 8om when users are heavy. I pay over $200 for TV and web.

During a recent outage customer service simply did not answer the phone - they shut down the auto attendant (menu promp recording)

I can't pay bills on line because their web site does one re-direct to another redirect to end up a server error

I thought Comcast was bad until these guys came along - unfortunately we only have direct TV as option

Terrible company

If you are in a situation where Spectrum isn't including the major networks and local channels in your package, I recommend getting a digital over-the-air converter box and antenna. When tv went digital I didn't have cable and had to buy a box and antenna since I missed the free giveaway. After some research, I decided to get a Roku box to stream the cable channels I like through Sling, and use my digital tv adapter (Luckily I had kept it!) for over the air channels like network and local. And, doing that also gives me channels that aren't available on cable like Comet and Escape. I If I want other optional channels that aren't included in either place such as HBO, The Disney Channel or Pandora music, I would pay a small monthly fee to get them. Spectrum does offer a streaming channel on Roku but you still have to pay for their cable subsciption to use it. Typical! But with Roku and Sling there's no contact, no equipment rental, and a technician doesn't have to come to set it up. It's easy! One thing though: you have to have Wi-Fi since the service is sent through the internet. That price would have to be included in the overall cost. So I paid a one -time $36 for the Roku box, my Sling subscription is $25 a month, I pay $5 a month for the optional addition of having CBS All Access, and my internet costs $15 a month (I signed up when it was still Time Warner and they had a promotion for basic service at that price and it was grandfathered into Spectrum) for a total of $45 month for live tv and some on demand content! The additional outlay for someone else might be more depending on what equipment they have to buy- but it's cheap; even cheaper if bought used. I hope people will re- think having Spectrum as their cable provider and go in this direction. It's easier, more choices are available, and far less expensive! So everyone... Please feel free to copy and send this review to others. I'm sure someone will appreciate the information!

A representative of spectrum lied to me about covering early termination fees. They neglected to tell me that it would only cover $500 when my fee was $900. I didn't want to pay. Now I've wasted $400.

I'm fuming. This business doesn't train their people well enough or they're just snakes.

Spectrum is horrible! I let my service go a few days ago and I don't miss it. When I had cable, it buffered all the time, I could not get the channels and the customer service is poor. They don't care, all they want is your money. Stay away!

Very unprofessional
April 23, 2018

I only gave one star because I had to but if it was up to me I would have given it a zero. I called to ask what Spectrum offers for packages to start service with them and the sales associate could not answer my question. She talked over me, I could not understand her and she told me that she was unable to give me package prices unless I could give her an account number for the service I already had. I asked for a supervisor, and she repeated the same thing, and was also not able to give me their packages or pricing. This was the sales team? I was very frustrated and am happy not to have a service with this company.

I cut cable service because of the high cost for poor channel selections. So, I am trying streaming services and do receive lower charges for channels. I am still missing the major networks for the local channels and found that Spectrum is offering a streaming service for major channels + you get a choice 10 other channels from their supplied list. I signed up only to discover that the full list applies only to certain zip codes without informing you of this restriction. This is false advertising in my book but the company only will apologise and tell you that they will fix the confusion. Right. The local office did not know of the restriction either.

This rating is for their web site/tech support only. Have tried on two occasions to access my account online. I have been stuck at the god-awful Captcha stage, endless screens to pick out cars or street signs or whatever. The only way they say they can fix it is to put a program on my computer so they can see what is happening, despite my telling them over and over exactly what is on the screen. This isn't a complaint about their people, they're all nice and polite. But they don't - can't - offer solutions to their tech problems. Inexcusable.

I used to have their services years ago and went to ATT Uverse. I ended up going back because I was in a contract with Direct TV/ATT and wanted to get out of the contract. They were offering free installation and the buy back program was supposed to allow me to receive a check from Spectrum/Charter to pay my early termination fee. It's been a couple of months and I still have not received the check, they lied to me about free installation, they have lied about so many things just to make a sale. Great Customer Service should be their top priority and not making a sale. I hate that I let the sale rep that came to my door convince me to switch over. Biggest Mistake EVER! She said Spectrum bought out Charter and that the service and prices were so much better. IT WAS ALL A LIE I have only had them for 2 months. My bill is supposed to be 150.00. Month. I have a 393.00 bill as we speak. DO NOT GO TO SPECTRUM. You will regret it!

WHAT A JOKE
April 18, 2018

Having been a customer of TWC and Spectrum for almost eight years, I was totally surprised with the changes. We went from whole house DVR to just the main DVR room. We lost channels and the phone and internet, well only worked 50% of the time. I had enough when all three services went down at 10:15am. I called was told a tech was in the neighborhood and would be corrected shortly. At 8:30pm, still no service - I called and cancelled all three services. Tech showed up on Sunday (20 minutes late), picked up the two receivers and modem. Four days later on our normal auto debit payment method... BOOM - they deducted. After six phone calls and being told we still had internet (explain that) - getting a small credit. I hope we NEVER EVER have to use them AGAIN.

We recently debated a limited streaming experience after having 'cut the cord' a few years again. I had internet at 50 Mps and we used the Roku free stuff and the occasional limited use of Sling and HBO to binge watch shows and then cut again.

We were told that the 10 channels and use of others, as well as 2200 movies, were $21.99 with "Absolutely no additional fees". We received a bill 3 days later that contained a "Surcharge" of $10.99 for having changed internet choices mid-month (Yes! "read your fine print" I was told), the package was $24.99" - Well there IS a $3.00 "surcharge" for streaming shows, but it isn't a fee, it's a 'surcharge'. Additional 'add-on' taxes of $2.99 and finally, my "internet charge was bumped from $54.99 to $64.99 because I "Chose to stream TV". Love the verbiage. I cut the entire cord this time. No more Charter Spectrum (Speculum). You'd think they'd learn what we DO NOT WANT. #LeaveCharter

They keep putting you on hold to try to wear you down enough to give up. Tech support isnt and retention services keeps upping the price for services provided by other providers at much less cost. A terrible company that obviously values new ( unsuspecting) customers more than existing customers.

If you are thinking of going with Spectrum Internet- DON'T! They have the WORST communication I have EVER experienced. Sure, the people who work there are friendly but they don't know what they are doing! If they say they are "putting in a work order" you can just forget it because you aren't getting your internet set up for at least another month! Absolutely RIDICULOUS and UNACCEPTABLE. Would not wish on my worst enemies.

Charter is the worst internet service I've had by a long shot. The only reason I'm with them is because there's literally no other option in my area. I cannot wait until Fios or something similar is an option because that's when this joke of a company can kiss the majority of their customers here goodbye. Everyone I know here hates them.
Their customer service is reprehensible. They will outright lie to you just to get you off the phone. If you have to make any change to your account they will give you no warning about any new charges that may incur or any channels you could lose as a result. I lost literally all of my premium channels because the agent I was speaking with never told me that by switching my service from one of my service addresses to another (both addresses on my account) that I would lose all of my premium channels with no option to get them back unless I wanted to pay twice what I was currently paying. And even then, that wouldn't cover them all. I was beyond pissed. I was offered a single $10 credit to make up for it and that was after a few calls in about it.
Then they lie to me and tell me that I can get HBO thru the app just for having internet service with them. Not only is that not true, its so far from the truth its laughable. All I have at the moment is internet with them. I cancelled the Spectrum App after that previous massive blunder. So I would have had to add regular TV service PLUS their premium silver package or some crap to be able to get HBO thru the app.
Their internet speeds are nowhere near advertised. Anyone that thinks they're getting the 100 mbps rate that Charter is touting at the moment should run a speed test and see where they're really at. I'd be surprised if you're even half that.

Absolutely horrible customer service! Each time I called, the employee would have poor communication skills and attitude. AT&T is amazing and i switched this week. The internet that Spectrum provides is slow and unreliable. I was told that the streaming service works on a Firestick and it does not! Definitely do not use Spectrum if you need reliable service!

I have lived in my current home for almost 3 years. We live across the street from a college and with hundreds of dorm rooms and being surrounded by apartments filled with college students, we lose internet connection, internet freezes and drops constantly. We have had techs out to our home 4 times and the "little" fixes they do does not fix the problem. Now our data usage is going over because even at home, our own phones won't connect to our WiFi and we end up using Data! I cannot afford to pay for more data when I shouldnt even be USING data. I am tired of the reboots we have to do and while trying to watch a movie, it freezes many times or drags and we have to start all over. We are paying over $75 a month for crappy service and Spectrum wont do what they keep telling us they need to do ----- Increase the broad band in our neighborhood! As soon as ALLO is up and running, we are switching! We are already locked in at $60 a month with no increase EVER.
