A rep called Melissa was absolutely charming and extremely helpful in my initial call. She did everything she could to ensure that I received the best possible service and that my order was processed in the most efficient way. In follow up calls with questions she was always informed and very helpful! My order was processed and returned quickly and the end result was better than I could have hoped for. I would recommend Southtree to anyone wanting their precious memories to be captured and saved forever. They should also provide a box of Kleenex with completed orders - not a dry eye in the house!
I have had multiple home movies from the 70's done from vhs to dvd and thumb drives. I've been very happy with all the results. They have a good system for keeping your tapes safe and returning back to you.
I was very happy with my experience with Southtree. They kept me informed when they received my films, updated when they started the transfer, alerted me when they shipped the transferred product back to me. All of my originals were returned in great condition. The quality of the transfer was equal to watching the film. I have already sent my second batch of films to transfer.
Everything was done on time and at a high quality level. The process was straightforward and clear. I received regular updates and everyone was responsive if I had a question.
Overall, Southtree is a very professional company for handling our video tapes, processing them, and sending me back the links to keep my memories, always keeping very well communicated. The quality is good enough, considering that the video tapes are old and I understand that, in some cases, the years have taken the toll on analog recordings.
The only thing that I didn't agree is that I've been charged for 3 extra items, to then being told that the quality was bad and couldn't be processed. I have been offered credits for the future, but I don't have anything to use them. I recommend that extra charge is paid after the quality have been checked.

I've been trying to get my family's 8mm movies converted for some time now. My dad had amassed some 30 containers of (12) 200-400 foot reels so I knew it would not be inexpensive to take care of this. Finding Southtree and sending some samples allowed me to see an end to this tunnel. Some of the movies we really did not care about anymore. Others, like mine and my sisters birthdays and family gatherings are quite nice to look at again without getting out all the projecting equipment and waiting for the sun to go down to watch them. The colors and quality derived from a small 8mm square is amazing. Granted some of the 1950's movies are a little darker than I would like, but that is an issue with the film, not the conversion. So, we have undertaken this conversion of all important movies and Southtree has some great prices and services to boot. I'm looking forward to getting the balance of the movies we need done by Southtree.

I had some old VHS tapes that were not in the best condition and Southtree did a great job getting the best quality possible from them. It is truly a lost treasure found for our family. They were able to do that with very competitive pricing.

To send VHS tapes that contain precious home videos to a company requires a leap of faith, but I took it with SOUTHTREE. I got clear instructions on how to pack my old tapes (they even supply the box, the bar codes and the mailing label), e-mail updates on my order, and my thumbdrive delivered back with my original VHS tapes in the time-window they specified. Seamless experience! I plan to use them for old audio cassettes containing family interviews and to digitize my photos and of course more VHS transfers. 100% recommended!

Southtree was very efficient. We were advised of the process every step of the way and the finished product was exceptional.
Everything done was great. To hear the recorded music again, that was recorded in 1959-1960 while in Verdon/Etain France, was fabulous. There was a little static, which came from the Germany based radio station. And there was one reel with garbled noise (I must have recorded over some of the original music).
Otherwise, all the CDs are great.
Took over two months to get the box, then after I put my negatives in and send it back, it comes back in less than a month with no thumb drive. I ask why and it's because they won't take negatives out of sleeves for fear of damaging them...
Except that ignores the fact that sleeves are for the express purpose of keeping negatives from sticking together and getting damaged, so being that they're too lazy to take negatives out of the sleeves and put them back in, they want you to send your negatives in a way that risks damaging your negatives but is less work for them.
They're probably hoping the negatives will get damaged so they'll have even less work to do.

As our team has explained, the negatives can adhere to the sleeve over time and there is a tremendous risk of damaging the negatives. Our technicians don't want to damage or compromise the integrity of your items in anyway, therefore they are unable to remove your negatives from the sleeves.

Excellent communication and good quality work. When I told them I lost the thumb drive after the job was done and delivered to me, they offered to the whole job again for free, charging only for the new blank thumb drive and postage. They managed to capture the audio from an old cassette tape which I was unable to play on my cassette player. I am very pleased.
I used Southtree for a few of my videos. The customer service was great; however, VERY disappointed when I viewed the DVDs. We sometimes had to adjust the tracking on the VCR when we viewed the VHS tapes from 1982. When the videos were copied... the tracking was not adjusted; most of the videos have lines going through them and we are not able to clearly view. Wasted $200... just glad I didn't send all 20 yrs of videos. Sorry, I don't know how to add the DVD below.
I sent 75 negatives of different formats to be scanned (APS, 110 and a format I didn't recognize). I purchased an initial 'box' for 100 photos and the digital download option.
Upon processing my order, I was billed for an additional 100 photos and billed another $9.99 for the digital download option. This was almost a month after mailing my negatives off.
3 weeks later, I got the box returned. They were "unable to digitize your formats." So I spent approximately $65 and got absolutely no scans back. They did not offer a refund and suggested I contact customer service if I would like a credit to digitize something else (but shipping would be extra).
Overcharged, basically doubled, and they blamed me for the charges. I had to send them a copy of my purchase before they would honor the price. They also blamed me when they mis-shipped the wrong box. I can't control what box they send, nor could I control the mis-information they emailed me about labeling the movies the converted to digital. Basically they won't name the movies, They will just labeled them 01, 02, 03. Good grief. For the prices they change they could have been courteous and helpful rather than blameable.

I took a look at your order and it looks like you may have mistakingly redeemed your groupon for the 20 item box and not the 40 item box that you wanted. You sent in 38 items on a 20 item box, which is why you received the invoice for those extra items! I do apologize for any confusion there. I see that you have already reached out to our customer service team, and even though the wrong box size was purchased, we did understand the mix-up and resolved the invoice for you, so no additional payment was required. We always strive to be as clear and upfront as possible regarding the labeling of your items. We keep track of each of your items using our unique barcoding process, since they are digital files received back, you can change the name of the files to whatever you see fit! We use the barcoding system in case you were to have any issues with a specific item, we can quickly and easily identify it by the barcode number. If you had purchased discs, you would be able to provide titles by visiting our website before sending your order in. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with!

Rather than charging by length, which would make the process very costly for most tapes as they tend to be longer, our process is determined by the number of items you are sending to us. Across the board, whether it is 5 minutes or 5 hours the size of your order will be determined by how many items you would like to send us to be processed!
