The overall reputation of Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage is significantly tarnished by numerous customer complaints, primarily centered around service delays, unfulfilled commitments, and unexpected price increases. Many customers express frustration over the company's brokerage model, which often leads to subcontracted services that fail to meet expectations, resulting in damaged or lost items. While a few reviews highlight positive experiences with the moving crew's professionalism and care, these are overshadowed by a pervasive sentiment of distrust and dissatisfaction regarding customer support and transparency. This suggests a critical need for the company to enhance its service reliability and communication practices.

Finally, I was really impressed by Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage staff due to their professionalism, politeness, and hard work. I really enjoyed getting to work with Andrew to unload the container and distribute the contents around the many rooms of my TX home. They took care to do things kindly, worked hard, and achieved good results. Personally, I enjoyed the process and was relieved when they agreed to pose for a picture when we had finished unloading.
The worse company, they tell you the cost and you sing the contract and then they work with other company where they charge the double what they said. The hold your items and don't deliver to you until you pay the double amount. Please do NOT using them they are SCAMS. I select one star but doesn't deserve any at all. Very mad about what they did to me and charge me the double amount.
Great experience! They came on time and were ready to go. They also were respectful that we were on a tight budget. Hence, we weren't as concerned about everything being placed just so, but just getting it into the available space to organize it later. Thank you!
We moved across the country. For a move of this magnitude, it was very easy. Flynn our driver was excellent and very professional. Ander, our coordinator, was outstanding. He was very professional and a pleasure to work with.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This was my first long distance move, and I had to use the cheapest company due to my limited funds. It is not worth it, especially since the movers will tack on extra charges. Go with a bit pricier and more reliable company, you will not regret it!
The sales people at S. G. are pushy and reassure you there will be enough space. They even added an extra 25 boxes (total 35) to my inventory just to make sure. After packing everything, I was EXTREMELY under my estimated inventory (10 boxes, and all furniture listed on my initial estimate).
When the movers arrived (giving me 20 minutes notice, after Southern Guarantee said they would give 1 hour), they said there would definitely NOT be enough space. They encouraged me to bribe them with a $150 tip each, so that they would pretend like it was fine. Instead, I removed three hefty pieces of furniture from my inventory, and it fit within the limits according to the two movers.
They called their boss for final checkout, and he said I was not within the limit because 2 lines of the truck was 400 cubic feet, and I was only allotted 268, so I was charged an extra $430. It defeated the entire purpose of the low estimate, and there was no way my estimate would accurately fit my inventory despite the salesperson assuring me it would (I was literally TWENTY FIVE BOXES BELOW MY ESTIMATE).
Marcel and Tony did a fantastic job, this was a last-minute and challenging move, but they made their portion simple and eased my stress. My stuff was in good hands, and they were collaborative, helpful, pleasant and kind. I've moved with a few moving companies - these guys were beyond amazing.
In this day and age, when everyone seems willing to complain about everything and there is so little time to spare for those that are efficient, I just wanted to say that the whole unit did a great job. In light of Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage professionalism and efficiency, I would recommend them to anybody I know planning a major move.
I'm thrilled I picked Southern Guarantee Moving. They were fast, efficient, friendly, and respectful. They treated my staff with excellent care. They made it easy, and I'm thankful for the crew I had. Great value with excellent service and no hidden fees.
Nathanael crew was highly professional, courteous, and SO organized. I would recommend them to anyone! What I thought would take many hours was done in just over one hour start to finish.
Customer service is very responsive and helpful. Crews packing and unloading were efficient, courteous and careful as possible with big furniture pieces.
I had a great experience with both men who made my move. The owner came to evaluate and then sent out two guys on the day of the move. They were professional, helpful, and friendly. I would recommend them again in a flash! Thanks!
Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage is a beautiful organization that I would recommend for anyone moving. They were polite, respectful, incredibly hard workers, and good people. It was a full-day move, and it wasn't easy- but they did it with aplomb. If you have to move, you have to make this call.
My wife and I mistakenly agreed to sign a binding estimate with Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage without checking on their reputation with the Better Business Bureau as well as numerous customer reviews on several websites. Before you sign or pay anything to Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage, do yourself a favor and read the numerous customer complaints. First, you need to know that Southern Guarantee is only a broker, they don't do any actual moving. Their estimate includes the statement "... please read Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move, and Ready to Move Brochure provided by the moving company and seek further information at the government website www.protectyourmove.gov".
After reading these documents, I quickly realized there were several red flags associated with Southern Guarantee. First, Southern Guarantee did not provide us a list of the carriers they contract with. Based on customer reviews and photos of damaged goods, I believe this is because they do not want their customers looking them up in advance. The brochure states that you need to check whether the interstate mover is registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and has a U.S. Department of Transportation number. It's difficult to do that if you don't know what the company's name is. As of 13 August, 2022, Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage has 67 complaints and a grade of "F" on the Better Business Bureau website and a score of 1 out of 5 on Yelp. They are not a BBB-accredited business. When I called to ask them me who they had tentatively contracted our move with, they refused to tell me. The second red flag was when their contracted carrier contacted me and stated that he would be showing up in three days (on the wrong date) to start loading and packing. The gentlemen who called me would not tell me the name of his company and stated that they would have our 4-bedroom home packed and loaded in a single day. The third red flag was when I offered to pay the carrier to visit our home in advance of the move to confirm our weight and cubic feet requirements he said it was a waste of time. I later find out this same carrier has 18 years of scamming people out of their belongings and threatening to unload or keep their belongings unless he receives more money. His reputation with at least six different moving companies in at least three different States had been following him since 2004 in New York.
My movers arrived at my home BEFORE the scheduled time so we could be over and done early. I moved into a townhouse with three levels, and I have tons of heavy furniture, and they did it all with NO complaints. They set both my beds and put everything exactly where I needed it. If anyone is looking to move, these are your guys!
I got an original quote and from the beginning everyone was hard to reach. These guys are just brokers and promise the world. As another customer stated, I was handed over to master moving and storage out of Oxnard California. My move was from Reno Nevada to Fontana California. The guy called me two days early telling me that he was in the area and wanted to pick up my stuff. I told him he couldn't do it because we weren't ready and he basically told me that If he couldn't pick up on that day…. He wouldn't be coming another day I finally got them to come out on the day they were supposed to get there and it was kind of shady from the beginning. No credit cards were accepted, you had to do everything with cash or through Zelle. They were quick to tell me that my cubic footage had been exceeded and I needed to pay an extra $1500. Well at that point I didn't have a choice but to give it to them because I had to move my entire house to another state. The day they delivered my belongings, my sons brand new $400 desk was damaged having a hole in the center of it, the helpers dropped three boxes full of dishes in front of me and the foreman said don't worry about it you can write a claim and you'll get your money for it. One of my lamps came broken with the sconces missing. After almost $900 in damages all they gave me was $100 because they got out on a technicality telling me if you didn't read the fine print you would've known that we only pay $. 69 per pound for boxes damaged. If the public knew this, they wouldn't have any business but like I said southern guarantee are a bunch of brokers which basically tell you what you wanna hear to get your business. Totally unreliable, totally misleading and a bunch of liars and thieves along with the company they hired to move me which is master moving Inc. out of Oxnard California
The move from start to finish was flawless, and professional. The team in the TX and abroad were beautiful to work with - responsive, helpful, knowledgeable, and problem-solvers. It was a good value for the service provided. Five Star feedback from this satisfied customer.
Scam. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They will tell you whatever you want to hear and will outright lie to get you to sign up. They are a broker, not a moving company. They will quote you the lowest price possible, then take a non-refundable deposit. This money is their brokerage fee, not to pay the moving company. Despite telling you the exact opposite, the actual contract you sign basically says that they don't know when you'll get picked up, they don't know if the moving company will do it for the price quoted, and they don't know when you'll get your stuff delivered. We had a pick up window of 7/29-7/31. We called every day and were told they were definitely arriving the next day. No call, no show each day. By 8/1 we had to make other arrangements to move from Texas to Florida. As of 8/11, we have still had no contact from Southern Guarantee, and we are out $4200. If they have done this to you, file a complaint with the BBB and the FMCSA. If you want to file a claim in court, it has to be filed with the Broward County Clerk of Courts, and the resident agent to be named is Bethany Cook. It will likely do no good, but the more complaints there are on record, the less likely it is that someone else will get scammed.
Our coordinator kept us informed through every phase and checked in to make sure we didn't have any questions or needs. The crew went above and beyond to keep us happy and make the move as easy as possible. The crew from the move also did a fabulous job and were friendly and efficient. We couldn't have asked for an easier moving experience. Thank you, Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage!
The movers that the broker (Southern Guarantee) hired have picked up my items and have refused any contact for more than 40 days now. My items are completely missing, and Southern Guarantee has told me there is nothing that they can do. This is of course after they went over the "binding" estimate, by a factor of 3x. They are a fraudulent company stealing from their clients.
I hate this company I really do first my move was for $2500 from Michigan to California and then they charged me $4800 it took over 2 months to deliver my furniture my furnitures was damaged and I'm missing a freezer I call them they tell me file a claim and wait 30 days for a response this is very bad company they just want to take money for you I already called Federal Motor Carrier Safety Agency and my lawyer is talking to them
