This is a scam. They advertise a monthly rate and charge for for a year. You can try cancelling within a few minutes to no avail. They are inviting a class action lawsuit with this fraud.
Please do not use this service! Here's why:
1. Their payment options are not at all clear. Before i hit the button to sign up for the service, i remember picking the option with monthly fee of 11 odd dollars. Not once did it show how much was being charged and a bill for $140 showed up in my inbox!
2. That would still have been worth it if their product wasn't terrible. When you are about to send the card, you have an option to type a message. This message loses all formatting when it gets delivered even the basic newlines between a Hi and the next sentence!
3. We were excited about their animation and music that comes with the card, however when you click on the link to open the card, it does not auto-play! The card is not even in the front and center of the screen. Half the page says 'XYZ sent you something special' and unless you know it is supposed to be an animated card, there is a slim chance of receiver finding and clicking the play button.
It is the best card creator I have seen in the internet. However, their payment method looks like a scam. At first, there are three levels of membership. With the free option one can only create a card, but cannot download it, share it or do anything with it. Furthermore, there is only available an annual subscription. But the information that it is the annual subscription is hidden on the last page of the payment process, which may be easily overlooked.
They advertise a FREE version but once you create your card, there's nothing you can do it with it without paying for the subscription - can't download, print, text, email, NOTHING. IMHO, that's a SCAM and I don't support vendors who pull that crap.
I mistakenly signed up and cancelled in under 3 min. That was Nov 25th. I have sent 3 emails to demand a full refund. So far they have refused as recently as today, Dec 22,2020. No early cancelations. Thats why they have earned an F with the Better Business Bureau of NY. Dozens of complaints. Any stats you see about happy users are lies.
Smilebox won't let you purchase a monthly subscription, but they don't make that clear when you're checking out. They show the "monthly" cost and make it seem like it's a month-by-month renewal subscription. I reached out for help the minute I got charged $59.99 (I thought I was just paying $5) and they responded by saying they don't do refunds. I've reached out a few times since and have never gotten a reply. Such a scam! Really disappointed that they don't offer good customer service.
This was the worst experience with this company, I signed up for 5.99 service and was charged 59.99 that was not authorized. I have emailed them to resolve the issue and no response and they don't have a live person to talk to. This is just extremely disappointed, I feel like this was thief by deception. I just want money back. When i got the email of the 59.99 that they took they want to automatically charge me 119.00 next year again without being authorized. This is just unbelievable.
How easy it is to work with SmileBox. Yet, changing and modifying only takes minutes. Large selections of templates and colours. High Five!

I used smilebox for 1 day and then wanted to cancel my subscription. When I went to cancel it, it said that it would end after the subscription, which is one year! It seems no refunds are available though they talk about refund requests on their site! This is unacceptable behavior in today's online world where refunds are expected if one wishes to cancel their service
I ordered the "prime" subscription and had my ecards ready to send to my agents for Thanksgiving. 2 days before, I was unable to log into my account - I was told it was a "technical issues" on the website. Long story short, the deadline had passed and I scrambled to create something new. I asked for a full refund (email correspondence only) and they charged me a pro-rated amount of $19.99 FOR USING NOTHING! Per Lauren K's review, they also charged the annual premium NOT the monthly rate. Unbelievable...
FYI: Smilebox won't let you purchase a monthly subscription, forces you into a year, saying you can always cancel early, and then to find out you won't refund the remaining subscription (It's hidden in their terms and conditions, is what I was told when I wrote to inquire about the status of my refund). That's bad business! Shame on you, Smilebox. I'd recommend you look somewhere else for this service.
So, I wax playing around with a digital flyer for my church and stumbled on Smile Box. I made the flyer for a light contest and thought it was cute do I went to buy 1 mo th of the subscription at what they site said would be $5. They immediately charged $60 to my card. I sent an email saying that I was not authorizing a full year and they tried to keep my money and give me lifetime membership. I said no thanks refund all but the 1 month at $5. They just srnt another email stating they'd be keeping $10 for my 1month membership. Stay Away! Bad business!
I purchased the program on the website thinking it was at the rate of $11.67 a month and they charged me for the full year. When I tried to email asking for a refund and cancellation they told me they wouldn't refund. I thought I would be able to pay per month and test out the site to see if I wanted to continue to use it but got charged for the entire year (which was a lot I wasn't wanting to spend right before my rent was due). I was using the slideshow part of the website to create a slideshow for one of my best friends funeral viewing and wasn't sure if I was going to need to use the website after that. After using the slideshow maker I can fully say don't waste your money because the editing options are basically nonexistent. Extremely dissatisfied and feel like the customer service could have been better.
Please be aware of Smilebox's subscription options. I purposefully chose the monthly subscription option to try out the site for a couple of weeks before making a longer commitment. The purchase screen confirmed I purchased a monthly subscription but my card was automatically charged the annual rate. They won't refund any subscription even if it's their mistake. Check out the site, they have no phone number for customer service, and their ‘submit' button to request help doesn't work. Please be aware of this scam and search elsewhere for a more honest and reputable site!
I wish I could give 0 stars. This company is terrible! I purchased the monthly subscription to send a virtual "collage" card to my best friend for her birthday. The reason I purchased it a subscription instead of a free account is that it *claimed* it would post to Facebook. I made the card and posted it to FB and it didn't work. So, then I sent her the link directly for the card - still didn't work. The first thing I did was cancel the monthly subscription and then contacted SmileBox customer service for a refund on the monthly charge for the card I created. They first said they would refund the charge for the month, but then reinstated my monthly subscription which I had already cancelled. Then... once I resolved that issue, they refused to reimburse me for the monthly charge for the e-card which didn't work. They said they "tested" it and it was a problem with her computer. But she also tried to open it on her phone and it didn't work. I ended up having to call my credit card company to have them refute the charge after about 10 emails to the SmileBox customer service people. Do yourself and favor and DON'T USE SMILEBOX!

The free version is absolutely useless. Don't even bother with it. Oh, and don't even get me started on the ads. It's plagued with them. Sure, Smilebox is alright if you want to have a little laugh, but no way does it promote creativity or productivity as it claims. The slideshows are pretty well pointless, as you do not even have the simple 'luxury' to insert photos. Every. Thing. Is. Premium. And, it seems to be a common criticism that people are getting scammed by Smilebox with their premium subscriptions.
So if you want to joke around a bit, Smilebox is for you. But overall, it's misleading, a waste of time and not worth your cash.
I buried my mom this past weekend and decided to thank everyone with a $5.00 video. That turned into me139.00 mind you the video is not even one minute. Never again.
I have used Smilebox for years. Lots of fun to create for scrapbooking albums. I would recommend to give it a try.

Answer: It sounds like the pixels don't support the size you are trying to view it in. Try shrinking the output and see if that helps. If all of your pictures are still blurry, make sure your software is up to date. Hope this helps and congrats on your wedding!
