Skillshare charged me $96 for annual subscription. I asked for refund, Cancellation and all financial information to be deleted. They refund my $96, only to debit my account again. I followed up with billing (Vincent), and was told to contact google play. I dont have a google play account and the link he provided didnt work.
I was contacted by skillshare and received a refund. That places me in a position to applaud their customer service
Wish I had of read these reviews before joining. Great and thnks a lot. The good thing about social media and reviews is. You can't hide bad customer service or rip people off for long because your actions will come and bite you online
I wrote to Skillshare one last time, and it seems like in the past 4 months they have really upped their customer service game. I received a same-day response apologizing for my previous experience and with an offer to refund me all my money. This gesture was more than I expected, and I am grateful to know that people do actually work at this company, and it seems they are listening to the negative reviews and trying to create a better company. I still have a sour taste in my mouth, but I feel like after they ended up giving me all my money back I should update my review and give them more than one star.
I signed up for Skillshare as a free trial. The day BEFORE my trial was supposed to end I received an email from them thanking me for subscribing to Premium. Naturally, I was confused. It's normal for companies to offer free trials in hopes that you like the product enough to actually pay for it. What isn't normal is for the company to LIE to you and charge you the day before the free trial is supposed to even end, in effect tricking you and then stealing your money. I was furious.
I looked online and after 30 minutes of digging I found a phone number for the company. (Red flag, what legitimate company does not have an easily accessible customer service number?). I called this number and it went directly to voicemail. The voice on the voicemail sounded like some stoned college kid, complete with "ums" and "likes". (Red flag number 2). At this point I was freaking out because I had just gotten scammed. The only option left to me was to write them an email through their website. This was over 3 months ago, and I have yet to get a response.
I am appalled that they handle business this way. They stole my money without warning and are now unreachable. I went back on their website and even their advertisement for Premium is a lie. It clearly states that your Premium account is cancelable at anytime. What they actually mean is you can cancel it so that it won't renew at the next billing cycle (which is an entire year!). They are crooks. If their content were any good, I would have happily continued using their services, but all their videos are things I can find on YouTube or other places for free.
The only thing I an do now is save other people the hassle. DO NOT sign up for the free trial. Go to Lynda.com or YouTube. Please, don't make the same mistake I did, and stay away!
I was charged after the trial period got over but I did forget to cancel the membership as many people have. But I asked them nicely and they refunded me back the amount deducted.
I got skillshare like everyone else, on a trial. After a week or two of use, I stopped even though my trial was three months long. I am a college student working minimum wage to barely pay for my classes that total up to hundreds of dollars. Without warning, skillshare SCAMS $120 from my bank account! I am appalled by this and extremely worried that I won't be able to pay for my classes. I am in the verge of tears creating this review. I just want a refund from this corporation so that I could pay for my classes.
Hi
My course has been set to free from premium on skillshare.
Customer support has stopped replying to my emails.

I had a very similar experience to many others before me. After the free trial was over they just started to take my money every month. It took me a while to notice because I never got any reminders that my fee is 'dued', and I've never received a receipt about my 'payment' being received. When I submitted a claim I never got an answer but I keep getting tons of the annoying messages about the classes in my mailbox. I had to ask my bank to destroy my bank card and give me a new one because they couldn't block them out (of course, I've never actually authorized transactions) and I was worried that they will just keep taking my money. With this business policy and customer service they won't last long. Stay away!
I used a 2-month trial and got charged a 120$ for an annual fee. I didn't even use the service after signing up and haven't heard back from their support after submitting a claim.
Hey Miles,
We're sorry to hear you received an unexpected charge! At the time of signup, we note that your free trial will automatically transition into a paid membership unless you have cancelled beforehand. Our team received your email and issued a full refund for the charge, as well as canceled your membership for you. Certainly let us know if you have any other questions.

I was about to sign in and decided to check the reviews. After reading them I'll never sign in that page. Thanks guys!
I was supposed to get a 2 month free trial. However, they charged me for a year, and they are now refusing to refund my money. Stay away from this company...

My experience is the same. Signed up for the trial and cancelled with the first month. They continue to bill my cc $11.95 every month. Can't get it to stop.

Same thing happened to me: I cancelled my trial period 10 days before it ended and they took the subscription immediately, rather than at the end of my trial period as they stated they would. There must be some sort of action that can be taken when companies do this sort of thing? It must be illegal?
Hi Penny,
So sorry for the mixup with your cancellation! Our team did receive your email on March 9th and issued you a full refund the next day for the charges that accrued on your credit card. We do apologize again though for the misunderstanding! If you are able, we'd love to hear from you about your experience with our support team.

I signed up for 0.99 cents 3 months membership, watch some courses to see the quality of videos and teaching methods, It's OK. I cancelled my membership after a week to avoid further charges to my account. And even after they charged my credit card the $96, i tried to get some documentation that my account was really closed. They refuse to communicate. So i had to terminate my credit card with the bank to avoid additional future charges. This is one slick racket.
October 2016 i signed up for 0.99 cents 3 months membership, watch some courses to see the quality of videos and teaching methods, It's OK. But cancelled my membership after a week to avoid further charges to my account. December 25, woke up this morning, read my phone's notifications, when suddenly i was billed for 96 dollars from their site! I was like "Is this for real?" I wrote them an email but upon reading other complaints on the internet i don't really expect them to make a reply to my query. So there you have it, my hard earned 96 dollars flew away just like that. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS WEBSITE. Man, I was really infuriated this morning. They've won the "DoucheBags of the Year" this year for me.
They have so many excuse not allowing the Teacher the get the teacher challenge bonus, if u are lucky u can get their bonus (only a few did) and they will entice you to sign up 1 year membership via silently charging your credit card... better stay away.
If you take advantage of the 99 cent trial you will be charged automatically for $96.00 for a year subscription.
This site is a scam site.
I feel sorry for the teachers on the site since this type of behavior from the parent company makes any of the content worthless.
Have an up front policy and be transparent and you will get customers.
I'm would have to agree with Bob J. This company is very sneaky in charging you after the free trial. They sent me a courtesy email, a day before charging my credit card for another year subscription. They didn't even give me the option of signing up for another month to 3 months. They just went ahead and charged me without giving me enough time to think about continuing or cancelling my membership. Typical of these types of companies. My email to them was unsuccessful due to a non existing email of theirs. And they provide no phone number to be reached. It's a real shame, because i really enjoyed their classes. But i will never sign up with them again.
DON'T use Skillshare if you don't want fraudulent charges made to your account. I signed up for a FREE trial and cancelled it before the trial was supposed to end to avoid any charges. The day after it was supposed to end i was STILL charged $96 to my debit account. This is unacceptable. I had the worst time trying to get a hold of the company to discuss this and when I finally did, their answers were completely ridiculous. They beat around the bush and on top of that, ONLY want to be contacted via email. No phone number available. So to avoid any random charges made to your account then don't bother even signing up at all. Not worth the headache.
So far since the middle of 2013 I've enrolled in two classes. The first class had the date pushed back 3 times (with no warning, and emailing the company got no response), before it was cancelled. They gave back the money for the class, and with that I enrolled in another class. So far, this class has ALSO had the date pushed back 3 times. No representatives have reached out, no emails have been responded to, and all of the questions from other people enrolled in the class have gone unanswered. I've had nothing but bad experiences with them so far, and at this point if the class is cancelled, I just want my money back. They've so far proven to be unreliable, and terrible at public relations.
