Some good courses, but after you sign up for a trial, they will just charge your bank card and email you no reciept of any kind. No charges for me to see on my account either, and I checked back! Also, the website doesn't seem to actually cancel your renewal- the page they recommend visiting on your account leads you to your payment cards, and the only thing there is your bank card- I tried deleting this, but the little 'x' beside the card was inactive. So how are you supposed to cancel your membership?! Billing customers with no notification, and preventing them from cancelling is NOT cool. I've requested a refund, and if they don't, I'll get on to my bank.

Full refund given
June 7, 2018
Updated review

I e-mailed them and I was given a full refund within days, thank goodness I can now breathe.
Lesson learned, always check the reviews, cancel on time and read all the terms and conditions.
I give them 5 stars because of the costumer service and how quickly they resolved me.

Hi Diana — Thank you for updating this review to reflect your experience with our Customer Support Team! I'm so glad we were able to help you out, and I hope you'll consider trying Skillshare again in the future.

Got signed up for 2 months for basically free, I was thinking of using the service monthly since school ended and I have more free time, I thought I had that option, but no, they automatically charged me for the premium membership and taking my money without authorization. I took a few side jobs so I could make ends meet. Who needs food, when you can take a class on how to prepare it? Already e-mailed them, I hope I can get a full refund.

It will tell you to sign up for a free trial but charge you 96 dollars at the end of the trial period - without a single email confirmation about charges. I wasn't sure how much I'd be charged. When you use e.g. PayPal or Amazon at least they give you an email confirmation about what you purchased. You will only know you have been charged if you log into their account and click into the tiny fonts "billing history" (which I never did since signing up, whoops). And 96 dollars?! Who needs to pay them that much when you have EdX, Coursera and Youtube? I love their concept but hate the sneaky culture. Lower the prices and be more transparent for a sustainable business model and reputation build-up. Not the way to go for a long term business. For now, AVOID.

Hi

I was told if u are instructor, u get paid money after reaching a limit of people joining your course, and then when the limit reached, they said i have to refer people to get paid, what a scam. They have been using my skills and service to make money, not to pay the instructor or teacher.

FULL Refund received
April 24, 2018

I've subscribed for 3 months for just $0.99, but I totally forgot to cancel it after that, so I was charged in $96 on April 23. That drove me go crazy because I used their website just once, I couldn't pay $96 for something I will not use. I made a complaint by sending them an email on the same day and asked for a FULL REFUND. They responded me immediately in the next day giving me the refund I wanted. I'm giving 5 stars not for their content, but for their quick customer service. The only thing negative I'd say is that they should warn people that their trial period is ending, they don't do that.

Thanks to this website and all the people who have posted!
I was offered that infamous 2 month free trial for AUD $1.27, i filled out all the fields, including the credit card details but I suddenly thought I should find a review about this skillshare organisation adn got a rude awakening reading the reviews!
So I quickly deleted all my information, did NOT send anything, and i have added all skillshare emails etc to my automatically send to the delete bin.
Thanks to all again. I am so glad I checked!

They have some amazing classes on the platform, but be aware with the payment as they have extremely shadey billing practices. In my experience, even though I signed up with a coupon for a 2 MONTHS FREE subscription, they withdrawn the money from my account straight away (of course, I've never authorised any transaction).
After I wrote them about the problem they refused to give back my money and offered to recommend me some interesting courses "to make the most of Skillshare during the rest of your paid month". Shameful.

Skillshare took $99 from my bank account, without authorization! I am a college student, and could barely afford to feed myself, let alone pay $99 for a service I have never used nor plan on using. What a robbery..

Scammers -- stay away

A bunch of crooks. May their karma come slithering up their doorstep and settle into their collective lives 3x3x3. They charge $99 without authorization and will not refund. Fortunately banks, paypal and other online services can get your money back. Save yourself some aggravation and stay away.

I love that a lot of my favorite designers and photographers are sharing classes on Skillshare. So i installed the android app and i was offered a 30 day free trial. Cool. It also said that i would be charged Rs. 6400/- (98 USD) for a year after the trial was up. Quite pricey, but that's okay too. I would just cancel before my time was up. Now, a few days later, i wanted to watch a few classes on a desktop. On the website, it said 0.99USD for 2 months. And when i clicked on it, it asked me to sign up for a year for Rs. 2,988. (46 USD) That's half the price I'm being charged by the Play Store. That's really not cool, Google!

That is not ok
February 26, 2018

It is not ok, to prey on people who forgot to delete the account. Without any warning, I lost a lot of money for premium membership I didn't now I even have. If you like your money then stay away.

I believe in open education platform, and know that this requires money to function. But if I cancel my account, I should expect that my account is cancelled, that I don't discover that my account has been over drawn while I'm trying to buy groceries for the week. Just like most others here, I'm quite disappointed. I DO NOT recommend this service only on the basis of their shadey billing practices.

EDIT: Skill share did refund my money back within a few days, and we're helpful with that process. I personally don't recommend them to anyone with to access to YouTube and wikipedia, with a self drive to learn. Otherwise they might be useful for you.

I asked them politely and nicely to refund me my money as I never even watched a video on skillshare and because I am in need of money and that I can not afford to pay the amount for skillshare. I received a heartless automated response saying stuff like: "As were aware that the trial can pass quickly especially when youre learning a bunch of new stuff..."

Guys I have not even used your service so how do you assume that I was learning a bunch of new stuff?

Horrible experience. I would've considered skillshare in future plans but now I am just extremely disappointed by their communication.

Stay away! Cheers

I hear you that I forgot to end my free trial, but I never got a email confirming thank you premium, or you will be a charged a premium.
Upon contacting you, you offered me a refund with a fee, which definitely is a rude gesture to customers for such a new company. This is not a physical product where you have to restock, or there were limited seats available that you are losing anything here.
I told you that I don't have much to make the full out of it, so just give me my money back, and moreover I didn't use any of the service, plus it's only two days yet!

Very Disappointed if I will be charged a fee more than.$99 because now you are offering three months premium for.$99

I hope you listen to your customers, and take a step in the right direction!

Before, I did like this site and what it had to offer. I was able to get a discounted free trial ONCE and that was years ago. Suddenly out of the blue my card has been charged and I only have $20 left to my name! The bank is closed and I haven't gotten a message back from the support team. I was randomly charged $96 for something I don't even use anymore! Please, someone just refund me or give me help, I have a medical appointment this week and I need this settled ASAP

I signed up for Skillshare as a teacher, took part in the teacher's challenge and won a year membership free, I produced 4 classes, making sure to read their handbook and follow their guidlines. I spent over 62 hours creating those 4 classes and promoting my classes on social media and gained over 20 refferls, next thing I know I got this email out of the blue.

Hello

This is Skillshare's Trust & Safety Team.

Unfortunately, because we have found evidence of the behaviors listed below associated to your account, we have canceled your teacher payment and closed your account.

- Misrepresentation of enrollments, reviews referrals
- Attempts to artificially inflate class ranking
- The characteristics of the teacher account overlap with the characteristics of student accounts enrolled in their class
- The teacher's account is associated to networks of users exhibiting suspicious activity

Skillshare

All the effort, and hard work I put into creating classes and promoting them via social media, and worst was really looking for the check to pay my rent and all of it is gone, I cannot believe this. They encourage you to promote to gain referrals and I did so following all the social media rules of Faceook, Youtube, Twitter etc and they decide to remove my account with a vague false claim, I have never once in my life went against a websites policy, I joined skillshare to build a sustainable side income to support myself because I am not able to work a 9-5 job due to health reasons, I followed their rules and they just remove my account. I am so depressed now I have no idea what to do, this was my big plan to help myself and now it is all gone.

I was either wrongfully accused by Skillshare or sabotage by someone, the worst part is skillshare does no kind of investigation or care about anything you have to say, they just send you very vague messages and responds to support tickets in like a non human pre written template. Without teachers Skillshare would not be in business, yet they treat them like disposable garbage.

Awful awful awful
November 27, 2017

This site scammed $120 out of me. Much like other reviews I signed up for a FREE trial and ended up canceling it a few days in. I got confirmation that I cancelled and lost access to the content. Then out the blue, almost a month later, Ive been charged over a hundred dollars. Sure enough I rechecked the website and I had been regiven access to theyre classes. Ive jumped through countless hoops about getting my money refunded and still have heard nothing. Needless to say I havent used it and I warn anyone from even looking at this company.
