I've tried too many online dating sites and apps to count, with little success. To a single guy like me in my late 50's, the idea of a site like Silver Singles that catered specifically to people 50 and over seemed like a great idea that would thin out the crowd and make it easier to connect with a compatible companion. The first problem was that the free membership is basically useless, but previous experience made that no surprise. I decided to pay for six months and see how it went.

After forking over my money and trying the site for a week or so, not only were the overwhelming majority of my "matches" WELL beyond reasonable driving distance, but the site is also full of women obviously in their 20s, 30s and 40s. With due respect, I didn't understand why they were granted membership on what's supposed to be an over 50 dating site. On top of that were countless profiles with no photos, and "smiles" from extremely young women from all over the country with phone numbers and email addresses scrawled over their profile pics. Obvious spammers. When I complained about these things, I was told that although they focused on the over 50 crowd, they permitted younger people because "it wouldn't be fair" if they were excluded. To say nothing of the unfairness of forcing the over 50 crowd they claim to focus on to weed out all the completely incompatible profiles. They also claimed to be very serious about fraud and safety while saying that every photo is screened before posting, but virtually every single "smile" I received that showed a profile photo had either a phone number or email address in the photo. They're obviously NOT serious about keeping the fakes out.

Don't waste your time or money with Silver Singles. It's FAR more phony than real.

I signed up for the Premium Plan; and although I had several contacts initially, several were from out of state/area or contrary to my profile preferences. Later I began receiving several "phishing" hits that were bogus. To the company's credit, they did - after the fact - send me security warning that the messages I had received were being investigated by the company for security issues. I would not recommend this site to anyone.

This dating site is terrible in all levels. It's hard to understand to use and you are very limited to talk or search anyone. There is no matches for me in my area (200km) distance and that covers four cities. 80% of the people have no photo and when I request a photo no response or/and I don't know if anyone received my messages cause it doesn't tell me and I paid extra $$$for better service. This is a scam dating site. Use your money on other sites. They offer only the opposite my match request, for example, age difference was way way off and language which I cannot speak. I tried many times to report this but no help was done. Still continuing.

This site leaves a lot to be desired. Somehow I signed up for 6 month membership when I did not intend to. In the week I used it I had only one reasonable match and that person did not respond back. In the course of the week I had four hacks. About 75% of the profiles did not have a photograph. I deleted 95% of what I was given. I asked for my height or taller. A good number was 2 or more in shorter. I asked for 50 MI from home and got many that were much further away. When I canceled there's no way to get a refund for the $80+. Not worth the money or the time.

This site is junk.
I've been on the site for 9 months. I am flooded with scammers that are allowed to sign up and send smiles for free. They post pictures with email and text numbers across their face. The company claims it's an unfortunate part of the business. If they didn't allow the free sign ups, these would not be happening. I don't think it's fair that I pay for a membership and they allow others to peruse and interact for free. They can give legitimate users the ability to opt out of free users looking and interacting with them. Or, give potential members a sample database to look at without the ability to interact. SilverSingles also does not approve profiles before they are posted. They let the paid members spend their time reporting the fake, scammer profile.
Users can only report the scam if the scammer sent a message. If they sent a smile, they do not allow reporting inside the app. I started sending the email notifications I also receive to customer service. There were so many, they became fed up with me and quite responding. Even sent me a message that my account will be canceled... in 9 months! As if I am going to pay for another 6 months.
That's the other thing. I thought I was signing up monthly and I ended up getting billed for 6 months.
Find another dating app.

Silver Singles is to me a fraudulent dating site... they do nothing that they promise. They tell you that they use your comments about supposed matches that you delete to prevent further of the same... which is totally false. They do nothing to weed out fraudulent matches that basically are pfishing attempts. None of the parameters that you furnish them are observed, I'm in Ohio and I get matches from NYC to California, despite the fact that I gave them a parameter of no one over 50 miles away. Most of what I do on the Silver Singles site is delete fraudulent pfishing matches. If I could rate it lower than 1 star I would.

I joined SS over 3 years ago. Initially it seemed pretty decent. I met a few interesting matches. In the last year it has become an absurd joke. I get no less than 20 OBVIOUS scam emails every day. I've contacted admin who have pretty much said "sorry, we can't control the scammers". Really?! I know you can't control them completely but other sites seem to keep them in check. Unless you want to filter through 20:1 scam to legit contacts please save your money.

Anywhere from 10 to 30 fake likes a day some with phone numbers on them, all scammers. Absolutely the worst single site there is. Yea, the worst. Bot knowledge and placement appears to be placed in system by administrators for monetary gain.

I signed for 3 months and can't wait to end. I get at least a dozen "smiles" a day which I believe are computer generated as I have followed up and received zero communication from the originator. On a daily basis, I receive at least two messages that a user has found the love of her life but her friend wants me to contact her via email or phone. Believe me, they are scammers trying to get your number and/or email address to take over your account, email, bank account, etc. I have contacted SilverSingles at least two dozen times complaining about this and it is still happening. Oh, and those women who post their one photo with their phone number on it, fake too! Don't waste you time and money. Too many scammers here.

They sent a canned response to my complaint about being flooded by young scammers using their email address. They acted clueless. Now l know, and had to block their email address to stop 20-30 scammer contacts every day.

It's site has bee awful from day one. First of all it keeps blocking my profile information and there's nothing wrong with it I don't understand why my height has been blocked why things I put on here being blocked. I pay for a whole year subscription and nothing happens on the site. Now they want me to pay more money. Save your time go somewhere else and do not sign up for this site. It's a joke

I accessed their site and filled out the forms, but I did not join. That initiated a constant stream of emails from them. I tried numerous times to advise them to STOP SENDING ME EMAILS. That I didn't want to receive any emails from them and to delete my info. They have an option stating, "If you do not want to receive any emails, click here." However when you do it automatically takes you to another page where that option doesn't exist. In other words, it is impossible to get them to stop sending you harassment emails. This company is HORRIBLE. Please don't do what I did and give them your email info. They won't stop their harassing emails.

Don't waste your money! Terrible customer service or should I say impossible to reach customer service. This site is a scam. I probably get 8 scam messages a day. Same message with different photos. Most popular scam is "my friend saw you on this site. She's in the military. She wants your email and phone #."

Software works very poorly on iPhone 13.

First you will get nothing but a mix of phony contacts, contacts from hundreds or even thousands of miles away. And don't forget all the contacts who don't provide photos, unless you want a pig in the poke. Cost-high-really just a money drain for the person who signs up. Got problems and complain and you just get ignored. The site layout is not at all conductive to the transfer of info from one person to another. There is no search capability which is really the key to the whole thing. You have no control over what individuals are referred to you. Don't waste your money

I would not recommend this dating site to anyone. I requested a 50 mile distance I ended getting men from Georgia Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia I live in NorthCarolina. Most of the men don't have photos and you have to request a photo when I request one never see their photo or the photos are blurry. They are rated the worst dating site with either one star or none.And they won't give refunds

I joined SilverSingles about six months ago and and received very few relevant matches. I had set a 50 mile limit (their minimum). Yet, a very large percentage were way beyond that range. I'm 81 yo and live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area, but received matches in North Carolina, Texas, Nebraska, Illinois, and more. You've gotta be kidding! One woman in Durham, North Carolina and I exchanged emails and commiserated about the poor quality of matches we received. Like I'm supposed to drive or fly 1,200 miles or more to meet a woman that I am trying to establish a long-term relationship with.

The absolute worst is when I tried to cancel my subscription to avoid going beyond six months, I found it virtually impossible. I am very computer literate and have been so for over 50 years. Yet there was no place on their website that I could find, and no option online with a Google search that presented the information I needed to cancel my subscription. I feel sorry for the seniors who do not have the computer literacy & skills to fight the maze this European based company presents.

I finally found it necessary to contact my credit card company to receive credit for the charge that they placed on my account. As far as I was concerned, it was a fraudulent charge because they did not provide an easily accessible and convenient method to cancel. In fact, I have now spent hours on this trying to cancel without success. This has been incredibly frustrating and time consuming!

I recommend carefully considering this site based on my experience, and the experience of several of the women that I have contacted.

I signed up for Silver Singles and learned the hard way that dating sites are simply nests of scammers and thieves.
I was charged $105.13 for a three-month membership(?) in their site's services.
From the second day on, I was inundated with scammers asking me to contact them outside of the site and also many who had phone numbers and email addresses in their profile names which is not supposed to be allowed.
At one point, I received nine scam contacts in less than 5 minutes.
I kept sending messages to the site manager telling them that they were being completely lax in their support of honest members and that they should have at the very least a firewall to pick up on phone numbers and email addresses in the profile names.
After a week of having my message box filled with scam emails, I finally said enough and demanded someone contact me as they never contacted me before I made the complaint.
I received a message from a Ms. Alice Kelly, and she assured me that she would get me a refund in full and take my information off the site and my personal information out of their records.
A full week past and no sign of money, nor did the profile come down and I was still getting messages although the site put me back into a basic membership where I can do nothing, not even clean out the mailbox.
On day eight, I once again checked my email to see if my refund was in and found that I had been charged again, the $105.13 and that brought my checking balance overdrawn adding an additional $35.00 for the bounced ACH!
At this point, my profile is still on their site, I am out $245.26, and I do not even have access to premium membership, not that I would want it but at least it would allow me to remove most of my personal information that they seem not to want to do.
I am posting this to warn others, do not do business with this site, they are 100% crooked, they will continue to hit your card and will force you to file a bank card fraud with your bank to get your money back while leaving your personal information up to make it appear they are a popular site with many members.
